Abstract

Being underweight in children under five in Indonesia is still high. Integrated nutrition service is one of the innovative programs to overcome the underweight problem among under-five children. This study aims to determine the effect of integrated nutrition services on the bodyweight of underweight under-five children in Tanah Garam Health Center, Solok City. The study used a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. As the study subject, we recruited 30 healthy underweight children (WAZ -2<x<-3SD). Data collection includes body weight before and after the 10-days intervention. The body weight difference was analyzed using the dependent t-test. There was a significant change in children's weight as seen from the increase in the weight for age Z score (WAZ) after the provision of integrated nutrition service (P<0.05). About 76% of the subjects had bodyweight improvement. The mean body weight increase from baseline to end line was 0,25±1,17 kg, while the WAZ increased from -2.32 to -2.12 The implementation of integrated nutrition service could potentially improve the bodyweight of underweight children. It is recommended that all healthy underweight children participate in implementing the program.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional period from childhood to adulthood characterized by high vulnerability to sexually transmitted infections and various reproductive health issues. Currently, teenagers in Indonesia constitute 24% of the total population. An urgent issue identified is the high prevalence of unwanted pregnancies among teenagers aged 14-19, standing at 19.6%, with 20% of these cases resulting in abortions. Moreover, a significant number of teenagers have been exposed to sexual activities through online media. This occurrence is attributed to teenagers facing challenges in accessing reliable information about reproductive health and risky sexual behavior. Therefore, the authors innovated with a promotive media called REHITS (Reproductive Health In Teenagers). The main objective is to examine the influence of the REHITS application on improving teenagers' knowledge about reproductive health. This research employs a quantitative method. The application was designed using the development method developed by Luther (1994). It includes features such as educational videos, articles, podcasts, posters, FAQs, and a chatbot. Of the participants who used the REHITS application, 87% found the provided information helpful, found the application interface engaging, and encountered no errors during its use. Thus, there is an influence of the development of the REHITS application on increasing teenagers' knowledge about reproductive health management.

Abstract

Hypertension among adolescents is an important health issue due to the increasing number of cases at a young age and the low level of knowledge regarding its prevention, thus requiring more effective educational strategies. This study aimed to determine the improvement in adolescents’ knowledge and attitudes in preventing hypertension risk through the Emo-Demo educational media. The study employed a mixed-methods design, consisting of an exploratory study for the qualitative component and a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design for the quantitative component, involving 71 adolescents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and interview guides from January 2024 to June 2025 and analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed an increase in the median knowledge score from 6.00 to 13.00 and an increase in the median attitude score from 33.00 to 40.00, with a significance value of p=0.0001. These findings indicate that Emo-Demo is effective in enhancing adolescents’ understanding and attitudes toward hypertension prevention. It is concluded that Emo-Demo can serve as a powerful educational media for adolescent health promotion and is recommended to be integrated into public health center educational programs to strengthen early prevention efforts for non-communicable diseases.
