Abstract

This study examines the construction of Raden Kamandaka's representation as a historical figure and a legend. Stuart Hall's representation theory technique is applied in this descriptive qualitative study. This theory defines representation as the process of establishing meaning through language, symbols, and cultural practices. The results of the study reveal that Kamandaka is represented in two different ways. From a historical perspective, Kamandaka is shown as a real person whose existence is supported by familial descent. One of the proofs is genealogical documents owned by local cultural elites such as Budi Sasongko, which prove Kamandaka's connection to the Sundanese Galuh and Pajajaran royal lines. From a legendary perspective, Kamandaka is represented through a narrative full of symbolism, such as the transformation into Lutung Kasarung, meditation in Alas Kabunan, and a love affair with Dewi Ciptarasa. This narrative reflects local values that are rich in spiritual meaning, heroism, and social relations. This study concludes that the representation of Kamandaka, both as a historical figure and a legend, results from a cultural construction that integrates facts and myths. In Stuart Hall's perspective, Kamandaka is not a fixed entity but rather a narrative product that continues to develop and is negotiated by the Banyumas community through various symbols and cultural practices. This process strengthens Kamandaka's role as a significant element of local identity, both in the context of history and collective myth.

Abstract

The popularity of the game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) among Indonesian teenagers has encouraged many content creators to upload videos on social media platforms such as YouTube. One of the leading creators is Oura Gaming, a gaming YouTuber with 8.2 million subscribers. This large number of subscribers indicates that many people enjoy the content presented. However, most of the uploaded videos contain toxic elements that serve as entertainment for young viewers, potentially influencing their behavior in social interactions. This study aims to analyze Oura Gaming's YouTube content consumption patterns using Gerbner's cultivation theory, which emphasizes the role of mainstreaming and resonance in shaping individual social experiences. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to explore individuals' experiences after watching content containing toxic messages. Participants consisted of two students who were active MLBB players and loyal viewers of Oura Gaming.  The results showed that both participants had high viewing intensity, enjoyed the aggressiveness and toxic elements in the content, and tended to imitate the toxic language they watched in their daily social interactions. These findings indicate that the consumption of negatively charged content can affect individuals' communication patterns and social behavior. This research contributes to the understanding of the impact of digital media on adolescent behavior and provides insights for digital literacy policy development.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze how identity-based political parties develop and introduce their existence in the 2024 elections in Indonesia, focusing on the case study of the Ummat Party. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, this study explores campaign strategies and patterns of political communication used by the Ummat Party to attract voter support. The research employs a qualitative approach, focusing on the general principles underlying the manifestation of meaning from social phenomena in society. Findings indicate that identity politics, particularly based on ethnicity and religion, dominate the campaign strategies of political parties, albeit controversially. While successful in garnering voter support, identity politics also generates social and political impacts that require further attention. Implications of identity politics on the political system and national unity are of primary concern, demanding in-depth analysis of the political and social dynamics in Indonesia. This study provides valuable insights into the role of identity politics in the Indonesian electoral context and lays the groundwork for further research on this topic.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition in which a child's growth and development are impaired, resulting in a delay in physical and mental growth. We can observe characteristics in its physical condition that differ from those of children in general. The problem of stunting is not only the government's responsibility but also a problem that must be solved together, as it can affect the nation's and state's quality. The efforts we have made to help the government reduce stunting rates include community service programs and the use of YouTube as a Medium for Disseminating Health Information, especially related to stunting. Community service activity was carried out in Kalijirak Village, Tasikmadu District, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, by providing training to 28 Posyandu cadres. Cases of stunting in children under the age of five (Toddlers) in the village were said to be still relatively high but not triggered by malnutrition. The number of mothers who marry early was said to be one of the causes, so it affected the level of health knowledge and parenting patterns for children. Efforts to increase health knowledge, particularly regarding the prevention of stunting, have been undertaken by the government through conventional methods, such as face-to-face communication. The number of health officers was reportedly disproportionate to the wide coverage area. Therefore, YouTube can be utilized as a medium to help disseminate health information, particularly in increasing the local community's Knowledge to reduce stunting cases. The training results indicated that the community had successfully produced and disseminated health information via YouTube as part of an effort to reduce and prevent cases of stunting.
