Abstract

This article explains the results of research that aimed to describe the application of the Discovery Learning model to practice students’ mastery of German vocabulary, especially in the “Wohnung” theme and to find out students' responses to the application of this model in learning German.This research used descriptive qualitative method, by which the researcher was the key instrument and the data were gathered using supporting instruments, namely observation sheets and questionnaire sheets. Furthermore, the data sources were 22 students of class XI IBB SMA Negeri 1 Gondanglegi. The results showes that the application of Discovery Learning  model to train students' German vocabulary mastery worked successfully as planned.  In addition, this learning model is able to make students think critically, creatively, collaboratively, and more actively during learning process.  According to the students, this model is pleasurable because it makes them more motivated to learn German. Finally, they think that this model allows them to remember vocabulary related to the “Wohnung” theme easier.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPembelajaran budaya dalam pembelajaran bahasa asing khususnya bahasa Jerman tidak mungkin dielakkan, salah satu pendekatan pembelajaran budaya adalah interkultural, yang terfokus pada keberhasilan dalam berkomunikasi dibarengi dengan pemahaman fenomena budaya sehari-hari Jerman dan budaya Indonesia. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah agar guru bahasa Jerman di SMA tidak hanya mengajarkan budaya dengan menghafal tentang fakta dan data  tentang negara Jerman akan tetapi  juga dapat mengajarkan muatan budaya interkultural melalui media digital. Sasaran kegiatan ini adalah para ketua dan sekretaris MGMP Bahasa Jerman di Jawa Timur. Metode pelaksanaan dirancang dengan empat pokok kegiatan yaitu penyamaan konsep, pemilihan materi, penyusunan media dan presentasi dan evaluasi kegiatan. Pelatihan dilakukan secara daring dan luring selama bulan Juni – Oktober 2021 dan hasil dari pelatihan ini adalah lima produk video pembelajaran untuk kelas X- XII dengan menggunakan aplikasi PPT, Canva, Tiktok, Quizziz, dan Quizwhizzer. Akan tetapi hasil penelitian ini masih perlu diperkenalkan dan diujicobakan luas penerapannya di kelas sehingga ada masukan yang berarti untuk perbaikan hasil produk ini. Kata kunci: pembelajaran bahasa asing; budaya; interkultural; digital ABSTRACTCultural learning in foreign language learning especially German is inevitable, one approach to cultural learning is intercultural, whose focus is on success in communicating coupled with an understanding of the daily cultural phenomena of Germany and Indonesian culture.The aim of this activities is the german teacher at high school able to teach culture with intercultural approach with a digital apps. The targets of this activity are the chairmen and secretaries of MGMP German in East Java. The implementation method is planned with four main activities, namely the equalization of concepts, the selection of materials, the preparation of media and presentation and evaluation of activities. The training is conducted online and offline during June – October 2021 and the result of this training is five learning video products for class X-XII using PPT, Canva, Tiktok, Quizziz, and Quizwhizzer applications. However, the results of this devotion still need to be introduced and piloted widely in the classroom so that there is meaningful input for the improvement of the results of this product. Keywords: foreign language learning; cultur; intercultural; digital

Abstract

The development of teaching materials is one of the most important elements that can support the quality of the learning process, including foreign language learning. In contrast to technological developments, teaching materials for Arbeit am Text courses studied by students at Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) are still conventional and have not received sufficient attention for a long time. On the other hand, the course that focuses on German reading skills has an important goal, namely, to improve student literacy. Therefore, this study aims to develop multimodal-based teaching materials for Arbeit am Text courses. In this research and development, researchers used the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Questionnaire sheets were delivered to the material expert as well as to the media expert to earn product validity. Besides, e-questionnaires were also filled out by students as users of the teaching materials arranged. Based on the data validation results, it can be concluded that the multimodal-based digital teaching materials for the Arbeit am Text course were declared to meet the eligibility requirements for media and material with respective percentages of 94% and 95.28% so they are included in the "very good" category. Likewise, the results of trials on users, namely students who took part in the lectures, had given very positive responses to the multimodal-based digital teaching materials designed by researchers. Researchers hope that multimodal-based digital teaching materials can be used widely, especially in learning the Arbeit am Text course, and can be used as a source of independent learning outside the lecture process.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan materi pelatihan bahasa Jerman tingkat A2 CEFR ( Common European Framework of Reference for Languange) untuk empat keterampilan berbahasa kepada guru bahasa Jerman SMA di Jawa Timur. Metode penelitian yang digunakan melalui beberapa tahapan mulai dari sosialisasi, penerapan, latihan, uji coba dan diskusi hasil kerja. Setelah mendapatkan pelatihan semua guru akan melaksanakan uji coba ujian A2 CEFR. Uji coba penting dilakukan sebagai persiapan menghadapi ujian internasional tingkat A2. Setelah kegiatan pelatihan dilakukan diskusi hasil kerja, diskusi pengembangan, dan diskusi perbaikan untuk mendapatkan hal-hal yang lebih bermanfaat bagi pengajaran di kelas nantinya. Didapatkan hasil yang membuktikan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan bahasa Jerman Tingkat A2 standar kemampuan berbahasa Eropa secara daring bagi guru-guru bahasa Jerman se Jawa Timut dikatakan berhasil. Berdasarkan hasil angket diperoleh data bahwa pelatihan sejenis sebaiknya dilanjutkan dengan diakhiri ujian A2 standar internasional. Selain itu sebaik praktik baik, pengetahuan yang diperoleh peserta dapat diterapkan di kelas pembelajaran bahasa Jerman di sekolah masing-masing.

Abstract

Abstract: This research is development research that produces a product in the form of a digital comic application “Echt Spaß” as a German language learning media for students. The purpose of developing comics media is to solve the problem of lack of visualization of German language learning materials. The theme used is Schulleben (school life) which is the material for class X in  even semester. The digital comic application “Echt Spaß” contains learning material in the form of comics, including Grammatik und Wortschatz (grammar and vocabulary), and practice questions are also presented. The development of digital comics is expected to be able to train students’ reading (Lesen), writing (Schreiben), and speaking (Sprechen) skills. The method used in this research is research and development and follows the Richey, Klein, and Nelson type one model. The developer uses a qualitative descriptive data analysis technique with the target user being class X language students at SMAN 1 Gondanglegi Malang. Based on the results of the validation by experts, it can be concluded that the developed media is feasible to use in the learning process. The testing stage also shows a positive result. That is, most students agreed that the “Echt Spaß” digital comic application could help in learning German as a foreign language. Keywords: digital comics; learning media; German language Abstrak: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan yang menghasilkan produk berupa aplikasi komik digital “Echt Spaß” sebagai media pembelajaran bahasa Jerman untuk siswa kelas X. Tujuan dikembangkannya media komik ialah untuk memberikan solusi atas permasalahan kurangnya visualisasi terhadap materi pembelajaran bahasa Jerman. Tema yang digunakan adalah Schulleben (kehidupan sekolah) yang merupakan materi kelas X semester genap. Aplikasi komik digital “Echt Spaß” berisi materi pembelajaran berupa komik yang didalamnya memuat Grammatik und Wortschatz (tata bahasa dan kosakata), selain itu disajikan pula soal-soal latihan. Dikembangkannya komik digital ini diharapkan dapat melatih keterampilan membaca (lesen), menulis (schreiben) dan berbicara (sprechen) pada siswa. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (research and development) dan mengikuti model Richey, Klein dan Nelson tipe satu. Penulis menggunakan teknik analisis data deskriptif kualitatif dengan sasaran pengguna yakni siswa kelas X Bahasa SMAN 1 Gondanglegi Malang. Setelah melalui tahap validasi, revisi dan uji coba kelayakan, sebagian besar siswa setuju bahwa aplikasi komik digital “Echt Spaß” dapat membantu mereka dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Jerman, sehingga produk aplikasi komik digital “Echt Spaß” ini dinilai layak untuk digunakan. Abstract

Podcast as learning media are believed to enlarge learners' motivation when learning a foreign language. In Chinese Literature History (CLH) course, the most difficult material faced by students of the Chinese Language Education Study Program at State University of Malang (CLESP UM) is fairy tales and legends. Students said that this theme will be easier to understand if it is presentive in audio form. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the use of the TeaTime Chinese 茶歇中文 [Chá Xiē Zhōngwén] podcast in the CLH course by means of students of the CLESP UM and to describe students responses to the utilization of the podcast media. This research used descriptive qualitative method with observation and questionnaire sheets as instruments. The first instrument was filled out by two observers and the second was filled out by 46 students of CLESP UM class of 2021. The results show that the utilize of the TeaTime Chinese 茶歇中文 [Chá Xiē Zhōngwén] podcast in the CLH course run well. Moreover, the questionnaire results depict that this podcast gain positive responses from students. They are able to understand the content of the podcast easier, find intrinsic and extrinsic elements in the story, and make cultural connections between China and Indonesia through the applied media. They also stated that the use of podcast can boost the learning atmosphere.

Abstract

Media pembelajaran yang terbaru, menarik, dan mudah digunakan penting untuk pembelajaran ba-hasa yang efektif di dalam kelas. Sayangnya, pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin di SMK Tumapel Malang masih minim dalam penerapan media pembelajaran dalam kriteria tersebut. Padahal ada aplikasi yang memenuhi kriteria yang mudah diperoleh oleh siswa dan guru bernama Hanping Lite. Aplikasi ini adalah kamus digital bahasa Mandarin yang banyak digunakan karena bisa dioperasikan luring dan memiliki fitur-fitur pendukung yang variatif. Aplikasi ini dapat membantu meningkatkan ke-mampuan membaca bahasa Mandarin siswa. Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan penggunaan kamus Hanping Lite dalam melatih kemampuan membaca bahasa Mandarin siswa kelas X SMK Tumapel Malang serta respons siswa terhadap penggunaan aplikasi tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data berupa deskripsi proses pembelajaran yang dikumpul-kan secara langsung dari observer melalui lembar observasi dan reaksi siswa yang didapatkan melalui lembar angket dalam bentuk Google Form. Teknik deskriptif kualitatif dipilih oleh peneliti untuk menganalisis data penelitian ini. Hasil observasi memperlihatkan bahwa proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan aplikasi Hanping Lite untuk latihan kemampuan membaca bahasa Mandarin siswa kelas X SMK Tumapel Malang berjalan dengan lancar dan baik. Berdasarkan hasil angket, siswa menjadi lebih tertarik, bersemangat, dan sangat terbantu saat belajar bahasa Mandarin mengguna-kan aplikasi Hanping Lite. Kata kunci: bahasa Mandarin; kemampuan membaca; Hanping Lite; SMK Tumapel Malang The Use of Hanping Lite Dictionary to Practice Mandarin Reading Skills of Tenth-Grade Vocational High School Students Up-to-date, engaging, and easy-to-use learning media are essential for effective language learning in the classroom. Unfortunately, learning Mandarin at SMK Tumapel Malang is still lacking in the appli-cation of learning media according to these criteria. Even though there is an application that meets the criteria that is easily obtained by students and teachers called Hanping Lite. This application is a digital Chinese dictionary which is widely used because it can be operated offline and has a variety of supporting features. This application can help improve students' reading skills in Mandarin. This study describes the use of the Hanping Lite dictionary in training Chinese reading skills of class X students of SMK Tumapel Malang and the students' responses to using the application. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method. The data is in the form of a description of the learning process which is collected directly from the observer through observation sheets and student reactions obtained through questionnaires in the form of a Google form. The qualitative descriptive technique was chosen by the researcher to analyze the research data. The observation results show that the learning process using the Hanping Lite application to practice Chinese reading skills for class X students of Tumapel Malang Vocational High School runs smoothly and well. Based on the results of the questionnaire, students became more interested, excited, and greatly helped when learning Mandarin using the Hanping Lite application. Abstract

This research aimed to develop Klicks Deutsch, a digital audiovisual media for learning German. Klicks Deutsch was created using an interactive media creator application called Articulate Storyline. The material presented in this media is Rund ums Essen (about food) for Basic Competency 3.2 and 4.2 in curriculum 2013. Moreover, this research was a Research and Development (R&D) type using the ADDIE development model which consists of five phases, namely analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The data were collected using questionnaires. After being validated by the experts, Klicks Deutsch was then implemented on 26 students of grade XI Language at SMAN 8 Malang. Finally, the results of the assessments show that Klicks Deutsch has reached a quite valid qualification. In other words, this media is liable to be used as a media for German learning, since it gained 85% score from material expert, 95.6% from media expert and 91.4% from student as users.

Abstract

Nowadays, film is one of educational media that brings valuable messages to their viewers. This research aimed to elaborate receptions of German Department students’ class of 2017 and 2018 about moral value figured on Almanya: Willkommen in Deutschland film. There were three purposes of this research. Firstly, was to categorize the German Department students’ reception and reaction to the film which were divided into several meanings and readings, secondly was to identify moral value in film, and the last one was to find out the positive values figured on Almanya: Willkommen in Deutschland film. This research used qualitative method with descriptive approaches. The data were taken from semi structured interview with ten students of German Department. The gathered data were then analyzed qualitatively. The results show that German Department students have good receptions and reactions about this film and each of them being placed either dominant-hegemonic reading, negotiable reading, or oppositional reading according to their point of view. In particular, the moral values figured on this film are honesty, bravery, hard work, trustworthy, togetherness, tolerance, wisdom, and religious. Lastly, German Department students believe that this film is suitable for educational purposes since it has plenty of positive values.

Abstract

Media merupakan instrumen penting dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran masa kini. Inovasi media sangat dibutuhkan untuk mendukung keefektifan pembelajaran sehingga suatu tujuan pembelajaran menjadi lebih mudah tercapai. Namun, faktanya tidak sedikit sekolah di Indonesia yang masih ke-kurangan dalam hal inovasi media pembelajaran, khususnya media pembelajaran yang berbasis digital. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan Klicks Deutsch, yaitu sebuah media audio-visual digital bagi pembelajaran bahasa Jerman. Klicks Deutsch dibuat menggunakan aplikasi pembuat media interaktif bernama Articulate Storyline. Materi yang disajikan dalam media ini ada-lah seputar makanan (Rund ums Essen) pada Kurikulum 2013 untuk Kompetensi Dasar 3.2 dan 4.2. Adapun penelitian ini berjenis Research and Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan ADDIE yang terdiri dari lima tahapan, yaitu analysis, design, development, implementation, dan evaluation. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah lembar angket. Klicks Deutsch yang telah tervalidasi oleh ahli materi dan ahli media kemudian diujicobakan kepada 26 siswa kelas XI Bahasa SMAN 8 Malang. Hasil penilaian menunjukkan bahwa media Klicks Deutsch berada pada kualifikasi sangat valid atau sangat layak diterapkan sebagai media pembelajaran digital bahasa Jerman, khususnya untuk materi Rund ums Essen. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan persentase hasil penilaian sejumlah 85 persen oleh ahli materi, 95,6 persen oleh ahli media, dan 91,4 persen oleh siswa sebagai pengguna.
