Abstract

Differential Parental Treatment (DPT) refers to variations in how parents treat their children, a common family dynamic that can significantly influence children’s psychosocial development and the quality of sibling relationships. In Indonesian families, this phenomenon is shaped by cultural influences such as age hierarchy, gender roles, and family norms, which affect how parents distribute attention, discipline, and educational support. Using a quantitative correlational design, this study examined the extent of DPT and its associations with children’s self-esteem, anxiety levels, academic learning, and sibling relationships among 30 families in Malang. The results show that many children perceived moderate to high levels of unequal treatment, which were linked to increased sibling conflict and higher anxiety. Additionally, discrepancies were found between children’s and parents’ perceptions, particularly regarding the intensity of differential treatment and sibling conflict, highlighting the importance of fair, consistent, and communicative parenting practices to promote healthier sibling relationships and support children’s psychosocial well-being.   Keywords : differential parental treatment, parenting, child psychosocial development, sibling conflict

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the parenting practices of mothers working as healthcare professionals in promoting healthy lifestyles and family consumption patterns in the modern era. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving one family in which the mother is a healthcare worker. The study focuses on the mother’s role as a health agent in daily family life, particularly in regulating dietary habits, physical activity, and stress management. The findings indicate that the parenting style applied is adaptive and participatory, characterized by role modeling of healthy behaviors, open communication, and flexible rule-setting. The mother acts as a facilitator who encourages active involvement of family members in maintaining health, despite time constraints resulting from her dual roles. The implementation of a healthy lifestyle is reflected in regular light physical activities, regulated eating and sleeping patterns, and family-based stress management practices. These findings suggest that mothers who are healthcare professionals play a significant role in fostering physical and mental health balance within the family.

Abstract

This article reports a community service program conducted in Ketapanrame Tourism Village, Trawas District, Mojokerto Regency, focusing on the optimization of the village as an educational tourism space rooted in Pancasila values. The program responded to two interrelated needs: strengthening active tolerance amid social diversity and creating additional tourism value beyond natural attractions. The method consisted of situation analysis, problem identification, program socialization, coordination with village stakeholders and youth organizations, training, mentoring, focus group discussion, and participatory evaluation. The participants included youth, Karang Taruna members, village officials, and community leaders. The results indicate stronger youth awareness of mutual cooperation, civic literacy, moderation, digital promotion, and community-based tourism management. The activity also produced an initial concept for an educational tourism product, namely a civic literacy corner or nationalism cafe, to introduce Pancasila values, cultural diversity, and drug-free village awareness. The article argues that a Pancasila tourism village can serve as a community service model that integrates economic empowerment, character education, cultural preservation, and sustainable tourism. The results demonstrated two key outcomes: (1) enhanced participants' capacity in Pancasila values, active tolerance, civic literacy, digital promotion, and community-based tourism management; and (2) the development of a Pancasila-based educational tourism model, including a prototype Civic Literacy Corner, that integrates economic empowerment, character education, cultural preservation, and sustainable tourism.

Abstract

The creation of the Sakellya bun inspired by cherry blossoms discusses the process of producing the work as well as respondents’ assessments of the result in the context of fantasy hair styling. The creation process was carried out through several interconnected stages, namely exploration, design, and realization. The exploration stage was conducted by observing the visual characteristics of cherry blossoms, including the shape of the petals, texture, and color gradation, accompanied by an exploration of the philosophical meaning of cherry blossoms as symbols of beauty, softness, and transience. The results of the exploration were then translated into the design stage by developing two alternative fantasy bun designs that present an interpretation of cherry blossom petal forms. Based on aesthetic and technical considerations, the second design was selected because it has a more dominant visual strength and is more suitable for the character of a fantasy bun. The realization stage was carried out through three trials to obtain a bun shape that is proportional, stable, and in accordance with the concept by applying backcombing, rolling, and layering techniques, as well as using synthetic hair with pink color gradation. The final result shows that the Sakellya bun is able to present the visual appearance of blooming cherry blossom petals with a strong structure while remaining comfortable to wear. The evaluation of the work was conducted through interviews with the academic supervisor, a hairdressing expert, and the model, as well as through questionnaires distributed to 35 students of the Cosmetology Education Study Program. The assessment results show that the work has conceptual suitability, technical accuracy, a strong structure, and comfort in use with an average score of 4.81 in the “Strongly Agree” category.

Abstract

Ketersediaan sumber belajar yang menarik penting untuk mendukung kemandirian dan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan, menguji kelayakan, dan mengevaluasi efektivitas media video tutorial berbasis Self-Directed Learning (SDL). Menggunakan metode pengembangan ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), penelitian ini melibatkan subjek siswa kelas XI SMK Negeri 6 Surabaya. Hasil validasi ahli menunjukkan media ini sangat layak, dengan persentase 95,8% dari ahli materi, 91,6% dari ahli media, dan 91,2% dari ahli bahasa. Pada tahap implementasi, rata-rata nilai kognitif siswa mencapai 84,33 dan aspek keterampilan motorik mencapai 87,6. Respons positif siswa juga ditunjukkan melalui persentase angket sebesar 86,36%. Kesimpulannya, video tutorial berbasis SDL ini terbukti praktis dan efektif meningkatkan kemandirian sekaligus hasil belajar siswa. Abstract

Practical Nail Art learning requires instructional media that present procedural steps through structured visual representations. Based on observations conducted in Class XI of the Skin and Hair Beauty Expertise Program at SMKN 1 Sooko Mojokerto, the instructional media currently used in the learning process have not provided optimal visual demonstrations, making it difficult for students to understand the Marble Nail Art technique using Blooming Gel. This study aimed to: (1) describe the development stages of a Nail Art tutorial video on the Marble technique using Blooming Gel; (2) evaluate the quality of the developed instructional media; (3) analyze students' practical performance; and (4) identify students' responses to the developed media. This study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D development model, which consists of the Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages. The validation results indicated that the tutorial video achieved a very high level of feasibility, obtaining scores of 92.5% for the media aspect, 96.3% for the material aspect, and 87.5% for the language aspect, all of which were classified as highly feasible. Furthermore, the average student practical performance score reached 87.11%, with a learning mastery rate of 100%. The questionnaire results also showed that students' responses to the instructional media reached 91.02%, which was categorized as very good. Therefore, the Marble Nail Art tutorial video using Blooming Gel is considered appropriate for use as supporting instructional media in practical learning.
