Abstract

Article 67, paragraph 1, of Law Number 2, Year 2022 states that every company is obliged to provide protection in accordance with the type and degree of disability. However, in reality, there are still many companies that accept people with disabilities as workers without providing appropriate services. There is still discrimination, stigma, prejudice, and bad stereotypes about people with disabilities who work. Therefore, researchers want to know the forms of discrimination experienced by workers with disabilities. Researchers used a literature review approach by searching for data related to social inclusion for people with disabilities in the workplace through supporting data sourced from national and international research journals. From the results that have been obtained, researchers found that the form of discrimination that arises in the work environment is that there are still many non-disabled employees who look down on them, such as considering that employees with disabilities are childish, incompetent, dangerous, cannot complete tasks optimally, and have deviant sexual disorders. In addition, employers impose restrictions on working hours for people with disabilities, lack of access to flexible transportation, and assigning tasks that are in a quiet and monotonous place make employees with disabilities uncomfortable, not invited to discuss and left to sit in the chair alone. From several cases that have been obtained by researchers, it can be concluded that social inclusion in the field of employment for people with disabilities is still not fully inclusive. And the laws that have been made by the government still cannot be implemented perfectly.

Abstract

Critical thinking ability is a crucial cognitive skill that needs to be developed for students with special needs. Critical thinking involves the capacity to analyze, evaluate, and solve problems in a logical and rational manner. Among students with special needs who have diversity in physical, motor, cognitive, and socio-emotional aspects, particular attention is required, especially in critical thinking abilities. The critical thinking abilities of visually impaired, hearing impaired, and physically disabled students lie in providing simple explanations and offering more advanced explanations with the assistance of teachers. The aim of this study is to determine the improvement in critical thinking abilities of children with special needs (visually impaired, hearing impaired, and physically disabled) in the subject of science before and after using the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) method. This research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design called interrupted time series. The interrupted time series design is utilized to measure the dependent variable at multiple time points. The study involves four measurements: an initial observation and three post-intervention observations. The instrument employed is observation, which contains critical thinking indicators. The hypothesis is tested using the Wilcoxon sign rank test. The research results indicate an enhancement in critical thinking abilities among students with special needs after being subjected to the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) intervention. The score difference between the first observation and the fourth observation is 63.125, and the fourth observation is 80.375. For visually impaired students, critical thinking abilities in terms of explaining a condition or concept and constructing arguments improved. Hearing-impaired students experienced improvements in sub-indicators such as identifying terms, considering source credibility, and building arguments. Physically disabled students demonstrated improvement in aspects like formulating alternative solutions, answering “why” questions, interpreting statements, and providing reasons.

Abstract

Therefore, this research will develop content that accommodates students who have hearing impairments with micro-learning-based content. The development of micro learning content is carried out through a series of stages of research and development. The development design used was the Davidson-Shiver and Rasmunssen development model. In general, the Davidson-Shiver and Rasmussen models are development methods that have dominant characteristics in web-based development. This research will produce teaching content in the Disability-friendly Assessment of Children with Special Needs Course. From the results obtained the details of the content needed as follows: Textbook 96.18%, PPT 95.54%, Ebook 94.90%, Video 91.72%, Video Podcast 63.69%, Audio Podcast 33.76% and Audiobook 22.93%. Abstract

This study aims to improve the reading comprehension skills of students with intellectual disability by using the KWL (Know, Want to Know, Learned) reading strategy. This research used quantitative methods with a one group pre-test post-test research design. The research subjects consisted of 5 middly intellectual disability students in grades V-VIII. The research instrument was a test of 20-questions with indicators that measure the ability to understand words, sentences and capture explicit information from reading texts. The treatment was given 4 times. The results showed an increase in post-test scores when compared with pre-test scores. The pre-test average score showed 45 with very low criteria, while the post-test average score shows 72 with good criteria. The hypothesis was then tested using the Wilcoxon test and obtained a value of 0.039 < 0.05. Based on the result of this study, KWL strategy can hone students’ skills in remembering, speaking, reading, and understanding. In addiotion, KWL stratgey also increases student motivation and participation in learning activities. So it can be concluded that the reading comprehension ability of intellectual disability students in grades V-VIII through the application of the KWL strategy has increased.
