Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis kebutuhan untuk mengembangkan modul elektronik berbasis inkuiri dalam rangka meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir komputasi pada materi barisan dan deret siswa SMA. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah guru pelajaran matematika SMA sekitar wilayah/kota Tangerang. Pengumpulan data melalui angket dengan Google Formulir. Hasil penelitian ini adalah bahan ajar yang digunakan guru belum terintegrasi dengan pendekatan inkuiri, sehingga dibutuhkan pengembangan bahan ajar berupa modul elektronik sebagai alternatif bahan ajar berbasis inkuiri, yang diharapkan dapat membuat siswa tertarik dan senang belajar matematika. Sedangkan materi barisan dan deret disusun dengan menerapkan kemampuan berpikir komputasi di dalamnya. Hasil studi literatur dan studi lapangan menunjukkan bahwa perlu dikembangkan bahan ajar berupa modul elektronik berbasis inkuiri untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir komputasi pada materi barisan dan deret SMA.Kata kunci: analisis kebutuhan; modul elektronik; inkuiri; kemampuan berpikir komputasi; barisan dan deret

Abstract

This research was aimed to investigate the effect of students’ self-explanation to their achievement, mental effort, and cognitive efficiency while studying mathematics, particularly in integral topics. This research used a static-group comparison design implemented to first-year undergraduate students. The subject of the study consists of 64 first year undergraduate students in one of the universities in Banten province, Indonesia. The students were divided into two classrooms, experimental and control. Experimental classroom received worked-example method whereas control classroom studying without worked-example method. Instruments used in this research include achievement tests, rating scale mental effort, deviation model of cognitive efficiency, and teaching materials in the form of worked-example. The results show that the implementation of self-explanation through worked-example helps students get a higher achievement, lower mental effort, and better cognitive efficiency compared to students who get instruction without worked-example method. The research also reveals the important role of worked-example in enhancing the ability of students’ self-explanation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) berbasis kontekstual bidang penerbangan pada materi aturan sinus dan cosinus yang valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk meningkatkan disposisi matematis siswa. Penelitian pengembangan ini mengadopsi model Plomp dan terdiri dari tiga fase, yaitu fase penelitian pendahuluan, fase pembuatan prototype, dan fase penilaian. Uji coba prototype dilakukan kepada 30 siswa kelas XII AP 1 SMK Negeri 6 Kota Tangerang, Banten, Indonesia. Instrumen penelitian termasuk lembar yang divalidasi ahli untuk menilai validitas, kuesioner respon siswa untuk menilai kepraktisan, dan kuesioner disposisi matematis siswa untuk menilai keefektifan LKPD berbasis kontekstual. Penelitian ini menghasilkan LKPD berbasis kontekstual bidang penerbangan pada materi aturan sinus dan cosinus untuk meningkatkan disposisi matematis siswa SMK program studi teknologi pesawat udara terhadap pembelajaran matematika yang terintegrasi dengan ilmu dalam bidang penerbangan. Meskipun peningkatan disposisi matematis siswa masih tergolong rendah, namun secara keseluruhan LKPD berbasis kontekstual bidang penerbangan yang dikembangkan dinilai valid, praktis, dan efektif, sehingga layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran matematika di SMK program studi teknologi pesawat udara.

Abstract

This study aims to describe student’s skills in explaining mathematical ideas using pictures and algebra based on Mason, Burton, and Stacey theory to solve a polyhedral problem. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study. The subject of this research is grade IX students of SMPN 7 Kota Serang. Data were collected by test and interview methods. The analysis technique used is using the theory of Mason, Burton, and Stacey which include specializing, generalizing, conjecturing, and convincing. The results of this research showing that the student’s skills in explaining mathematical ideas using pictures and algebra which can be classified into three types of answers, namely; 1) incomplete picture answer type where students cannot fulfill the thinking stage of specializing, generalizing, conjecturing, and convincing, 2) semi-complete picture answer type where students can fulfill the thinking stage of specializing, but difficult for fulfill the thinking stage of generalizing, conjecturing, and convincing, 3) complete picture answer type where students can fulfill the thinking stage of specializing, generalizing, and conjecturing, but still difficult for fulfill the thinking stage of convincing. These results are expected to be the teacher’s consideration in carrying out the learning process in the classroom, in determining methods and teaching materials, which are expected to be able to improve student’s skills and accuracy.

Abstract

Thinking is very necessary in learning mathematics, both at school and college level. Several studies have attempted to reveal students' thinking in learning mathematics at college. This article aims to describe the mental structure that occurs when constructing mathematical proofs in terms of APOS theory. The APOS theory has been widely used in analyzing the formation of mathematical concepts in universities. This research explores a thinking process in proof constructing. It uses a qualitative approach. The research was conducted on 26 students majored in mathematics education in public university at Banten, Indonesia. The consideration of that was because the students were able to think a formal proof in mathematics. Results show that there are two types of thinking process in mathematical proving activities, namely:  the deductive-holistic and the inductive-partial type of thinking process. Based on the results, some suitable learning activities should be designed to support the construction of these mental categories.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of students' self-confidence and mathematical critical thinking skills of students who are taught with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model with conventional learning. The research design used in this study was the Nonequivalent (pretest-posttest) Control- Group Design which was carried out in the odd semester of the 2021-2022 academic year at SMK Negeri 13 Pandeglang. Data was collected using pretest and posttest. Hypothesis testing is done by using a t test. The results of data analysis showed that sig. > 0.05 means that the remaining mathematical critical thinking skills and self-confidence of students taught by the PBL learning model are better than the mathematical critical thinking skills and self-confidence of students taught by conventional learning. The contribution of the PBL learning model to the improvement of critical thinking skills is 43% and to the increase in students' self-confidence by 58% compared to conventional learning.

Abstract

Kemandirian belajar adalah kesiapan individu untuk belajar dengan inisiatif sendiri, dengan atau tanpa bantuan pihak lain dalam hal penentuan tujuan, metode dan evaluasi hasil belajar. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan dalam upaya meningkatkan kemandirian belajar siswa adalah flipped classroom. Disamping itu, dalam penerapan pembelajaran ini perlu diperhatikan gaya kognitif siswa, yaitu cara khas siswa dalam memperoleh, menyusun dan menggunakan informasi untuk menghadapi dan menyelesaikan permasalahan. Salah satu kategori gaya kognitif siswa adalah gaya kognitif siswa adalah field dependent dan field independent. Penelitian ini menguji pengaruh model pembelajaran flipped classroom terhadap kemandirian belajar siswa ditinjau berdasarkan gaya kognitif siswa tersebut. Pada penelitian ini kelas eksperimen menggunakan model pembelajaran flipped classroom dan kelas kontrol menggunakan model pembelajaran saintifik. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan teknik pengambilan sampel cluster random sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa : 1) peningkatan kemampuan kemandirian belajar siswa pada kelas flipped classroom lebih tinggi daripada kelas saintifik, 2) peningkatan kemampuan kemandirian belajar siswa field independent pada kelas flipped classroom lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol, dan 3) peningkatan kemampuan kemandirian belajar siswa field dependent pada kelas flipped classroom lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol. Abstract

Mathematical connection ability is the ability of students to associate concepts in mathematics, mathematics with other disciplines and mathematics with everyday life. Based on several studies conducted by researchers it is known that students' mathematical connection ability is still low. In addition, teachers rarely pay attention to students' cognitive styles even though cognitive styles can affect students' mathematical connection abilities. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to find out the improvement of students' mathematical connection abilities by applying generative learning models in terms of cognitive style.This research was a quasi-experimental research with nonequivalent control group. The population in this study were all students of the second semester on XI MIPA class of MAN 4 Tangerang in the 2018/2019 academic year spread into 5 classes. The sampling technique in this study was taken by cluster random sampling technique, such as by taking two classes from the population randomly (drawn) that the population must be normal and homogeneous. The class used as the sample in this study were class XI MIPA 2 as an experimental class and class XI MIPA 5 as a control class where each class consists of 26 students. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that, (1) increasing mathematical connection ability of students with independent field cognitive styles who obtained generative learning higher than the increase in students' mathematical connection abilities in cognitive field independent style who obtain scientific learning, (2) an increase in students' mathematical connection abilities with field dependent cognitive styles who obtain generative learning is higher than the increase in students' mathematical connection abilities with field dependent cognitive styles who obtain scientific learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji dan mengkaji peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa baik secara keseluruhan maupun berdasarkan gender. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 8 SMPN 1 Cikulur. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan pretes dan postes kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Dari data pretes dan postes diperoleh data n-gain kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan ANOVA dua-jalur untuk melihat peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran melalui strategi REACT lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran ekspositori ditinjau dari keseluruhan siswa, peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa laki-laki yang memperoleh pembelajaran melalui strategi REACT lebih tinggi daripada siswa laki-laki yang memperoleh pembelajaran ekspositori, peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa perempuan yang memperoleh pembelajaran melalui strategi REACT lebih tinggi daripada siswa perempuan yang memperoleh pembelajaran ekspositori, tetapi tidak terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis antara siswa perempuan dan siswa laki-laki yang memperoleh pembelajaran melalui strategi REACT.

Abstract

GEOGEBRA AND SCILAB SOFTWARE ONLINE TRAINING FOR MATHEMATICS TEACHERS IN BANTEN PROVINCE. The utilization of Geogebra dan Scilab in mathematics learning is certainly inseparable from the role of teachers. This article aims to identify geogebra software's online training for mathematical learning. This online training was conducted synchronously 4 times in the period of September 2020, and accompanied asynchronously through the Edmodo application. Teachers who actively participate in online training are about 68 teachers. The teacher's response to learning by utilizing Geogebra and Scilab software depends on the teacher's initial ability regarding the software. The online training is able to add to the teacher's knowledge about mathematics learning software, especially Geogebra and Scilab.
