Abstract

Kalembak Village located strategically on the shore of open ocean and has the open access to City Center. Marine source are their common survival method for living. Their fishers are actively growing the family income from fishings such as fish, shells, crabs, and etc. In order for them to get customers are vary. Some of them has the ability to get tied with customers and get they come by phone to take the morning catch, but not few has to go extra mile to get a penny from customers. Those who go around are depending on the lucky factors through their not advance facility. Armed with a small plastic bucket to carry the fishes placed in front of their motorcycle, fishers go through the city to find those who willing to buy their catches. The writer see this phenomenon as a constraint to fishers’ value of income. They ability to catch more than their usual actually obstructed by the fact they can only carry a small amount on a plastic bucket. Through this social empowerment program, writer has come with the idea solution for the Kalembak fishers in order to ease their mobility service. By doing a purposive sampling on a qualitative method and observation, writer find the data on Kalembak fishers who need enhancement on their mobilization. For result, the Kalembak fishers get to multiply and increase their usual catch and income

Abstract

Indonesia is famous for its cultural diversity. Living among these cultural diversity causes many conflicts. One of the main reasons is stereotype, which is a prejudice carried out by other individuals or groups without facts. And was very often found in the community environment people who were kind, was judge rude just because of the intonation of a rough speech. Therefore, through the Social Empowerment program, SEPORA 2020, we use social media as an educational media to build awareness in the community to avoid stereotypical views. From the results obtained through the media named we.changeit, it made the public enthusiastic in preventing stereotypes. For the next prototype, we plan to podcast-related speakers.

Abstract

Racism is an attitude created by humans towards humans to create a degree of limitation among humans through culture, skin, or anything that they think is strange/different in their groups. In this article, we want to emphasize the people's awareness of racism that occurs starting from among young people. According to the Central Statistics Agency, in Indonesia alone there are 1340 ethnic groups in Indonesia. Because there are so many ethnic groups in Indonesia, Indonesia is called a plural state. The method used is qualitative, namely interviews and quantitative questionnaires because the writer needs to get resources from people who are experts in their fields and also need to know the situation about racism in the vicinity.

Abstract

Taman sari Hijau adalah sebuah komplek peumahan yang mulai dibangun pada tahun 2005 belokasi di Kelurahan Tiban Baru, Kecamatan Sekupang kota Batam. Perumahan ini ditempati oleh sekitar 10.000 penduduk dengan latar belakang agama, suku, dan budaya yang sama sehingga terjadinya pertemanan tangga sendiri. Kondisi lingkungan di daerah ini sangat padat sehingga sulit untuk mengontrol kebersihan lingkungan di daerah ini khususnya pada parit- parit besar dan daerah umum lainnya. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk Membantu penduduk komplek perumahan Taman Sari Hijau meningkatkan kesadaran akan pentingnya menjaga lingkungan bersama demi keberlangsungan komunitas dan kesehatan masyarakat.

Abstract

Program SePORA kepada masyarakat bertujuan untuk menanamkan kesadaran akan kebahayaan narkoba pada lingkungan sekitarnya. Dengan kerja sama bersama Mitra Komunitas Kompak Batam dengan menggunakan video animasi sebagai penyaluran ilmu kepada masyarakat setempat maupun seluruh warga Indonesia. Seiring berkembangnya dunia, kami juga mengikuti tempo masyarakat untuk menyalurkan video ini di platform Youtube, karena kami menyadari bahwa penyalahgunaan narkotika dan obat-obat berbahaya (narkoba) di Indonesia beberapa tahun terakhir ini menjadi masalah yang sangat serius karena sudah banyak korbannya. Narkotika adalah zat atau obat baik yang bersifat alamiah, sintetis, maupun semi sintetis yang menimbulkan efek penurunan kesadaran, halusinasi, serta daya rangsang. Metode pelaksanaan yang pertama kali dilakukan adalah membuat sebuah podcast bersama pihak mitra dan dinyalurkan melalui platform Youtube, pada kedua kalinya kami membuat sebuat video animasi yang dinyalurkan melalui platform Youtube untuk menarik perhatian masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk tiap masyarakat tertarik untuk melihat dan juga meningkatkan kesadaran bahaya narkoba. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat memahami betapa bahayanya narkoba dan juga memiliki pengetahuan untuk mengatakan “TIDAK” pada narkoba.

Abstract

Cultural landscape not only suggesting the agents that evolve within them, but also the transport of ubiquitous entity that changing around the agents themselves. More than that, cultural landscape has a core capability to revoke an abandoned story of an area. Sawahlunto city with its definite historical evolution as an mining city, has been nominated as an UNESCO World Heritage List in 2019. Notwithstanding, its criterion are listed as a property that seen to be tangible element. The value of this historic district are more than just rustic steel and concrete. The aim of this paper is to extend the explanation that cultural landscape element of Sawahlunto city has the capability to be carried as an outstanding universal value. Using UNESCO 2011 key element on defining OUV criteria, this paper will discuss the purport and concept of cultural landscape values of the city. A review of antecedents of cultural landscape definition will also be made. Through this, a discussion will be provoked to bring out more thoughts on considering intangible element into a heritage area development as one of the sustainable approaches for tourism destination.

Abstract

Since the age of 3, children have been trained to understand the world little by little and shape their own personalities and characters. Children around the age of development tend to learn behavior and articulation through sight and hearing. Hearing educational stories in early ages will help them learn good traits more quickly. Children educative stories can become one of the sources to shape and build good characteristics of children. In collaboration with IOM, HMPS Architecture UIB has created a special audio visual story for children to understand. Delivering story plots with audio and visuals through the story of "It's Dyra" will provide positive results to build positive mindsets of children. The story will be distributed via YouTube and SoundCloud to make it easier to be shared directly to viewers

Abstract

Nowadays, more residential buildings are built with small interior spaces, but the average size of the furniture remains constant; large enough. This can trigger such problems like limited area of a space, so it could restrict some activities of users of that space. The purpose of this research is to create a furniture with the concept of convertible furniture to overcome these problems. This study also focuses on business opportunities that apply convertible furniture sales with the unique concept of using used or recycled materials. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method and a descriptive method accompanied by the distribution of questionnaires to collect empirical data as part of the qualitative research method. The results of the study concluded that furniture with ‘convertible furniture’ concept through knock-down technique may solve the problem of limited space, and has the potential to grow a ‘convertible furniture’ business with some portion of the materials containing recycled material(s).

Abstract

Tropical architecture is an architectural building concept that focuses on the use of materials and techniques used in an accordance with the environment and climate in the tropical region. Buildings with tropical architectural style have special characteristics in adapting to climate conditions, but currently there are also modern buildings that can be categorized as contemporer tropical buildings. In the context of Batam city, contemporer tropical architectural buildings have not been prominent, especially in residential houses applications. Moreover, few residential houses failed to follow thermal comfort in the objective of Batam climate. This study aims to identify the elements of thermal comfort in residential houses which apply contemporer tropical architectural concepts in the city of Batam. In this case the author examine “Rumah Tambah” as a case study. By conducting a literature review and comparison of case studies as well as direct observation to the location, this research was conducted using an inductive qualitative method using primary and secondary data. Finally, this research produces an identification of thermal comfort that is applied to residential houses with a contemporer tropical architectural concept and provides recommendations for design elements in residential houses with a contemporer tropical architectural concept in the city of Batam.
