Abstract

Durian seeds can be utilized as a producer of Water Soluble Polysaccharide (WSP) that can be applied to food products because crude extract of WSP is hydrocolloid. WSP interacts with other components, directly and indirectly affect processing applications, food quality, and acceptance.Water binding, solubility, viscosity and surface activity are important properties, determining usefulness and final product quality in a food system. The absence of extraction conditions that support so that the need for improved methods to variations in temperature and long extraction. This study aim to determine the effect of temperature and long extraction that produces the highest yield value and to determine the functional properties of the WSP.  The results of this study are the highest yield values in the 50 oC temperature extraction ang long extraction 2 hours amounted to 2,26%, solubility in water of 51,61%; lightness 34,14; water holding capacity (WHC) 2339,35%;  oil holding capacity (OHC) 425,36%; emulsion power 55,77m2/g; emulsion stability 585,50 minutes, foaming power 157,39 ml/g; foaming stability 25,43%. Long extraction increase the value of WHC and OHC but discrease the value of water solubility, foaming power and lightness. Abstract

Abstrak Program konversi penggunaan bahan bakar rumah tangga dari minyak tanah ke bahan bakar gas membuat ketergantungan akan bahan bakar gas menjadi tinggi. Tidak stabilnya pengiriman gas ke daerah mengakibatkan banyak masyarakat di pedesaan yang beralih kembali pada pengunaan kayu bakar sebagai bahan bakar sehingga dapat mengancam kelestarian hutan. Fenomena ketergantungan akan satu jenis bahan bakar oleh masyarakat menimbulkan kebutuhan akan perlunya sumber bahan bakar alternatif selain gas. Sumber bahan bakar alternatif yang potensial untuk dikembangkan adalah biopellet yang berbahan bakulimbah agroindustri ubi kayu seperti kulit ubi kayu. Penelitian ini diarahkan untuk mengolah kulit ubi kayu menjadi biopellet untuk bahan bakar di pedesaan sehingga dapat menggantikan penggunaan kayu bakar. Penelitian ini mempunyai tujuan antara lain mengetahui sifat fisikokimia dari kulit ubi kayu sebagai bahan baku pembuatan biopellet. Komposisi limbah industry tape antara lain kulit ubi kayu dan bonggol dengan persentase masing-masing komponen antara lain 60,9% dan 39,3%. Jika kulit ubi kayu difraksinasi, maka kulit kayu terdiri dari dua komponen yaitu kulit putih dan kulit coklat dengan persentase sebesar 83,7% dan 14,2%.Limbah industri tape berpotensi untuk digunakan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan biopellet karena nilai kalor yang cukup tinggi yaitu berkisar 15715.19 J/g dengan rendemen kulit kering 10,78% dari limbah yang muncul.Kata Kunci: kulit ubi kayu, bahan baku, biopellet, analisa sifat fisikokimiaAbstract Fuel reimbursement program from kerosene to gas fuel would make gas fuel dependencies high. Unstable gas deliveries to the remote areas resulting in many rural communities are switching back to use of firewood as fuel that can threaten the sustainability of the forest. Cassava industry produced cassava peel as by product that potential to develop as raw material of alternative fuel (bio-pellet). This research is directed to process cassava peel into bio-pellet that can replace the use of firewood. This study has the objective, determine the physicochemical properties of the cassava peel as raw material for making bio-pellet. The research results are the composition of industrial tape waste such as cassava peel and tubers with the percentage of each component among others, 60.9% and39.3%. Fractionation of cassava peel, the bark consists of two components, namely white and brown with a percentage of 83.7% and 14.2%. By product of tape industrial has the potential to be used as raw material for the manufacture of bio-pellet because calorific value that ranges 15715.19J/g with a dried cassava peel yield of10.78%.Keywords: cassava peel, raw materials, bio-pellet, analysis of physicochemical properties

Abstract

Tempe is one of traditional and most delicious Indonesian food. Tempe is made up of soybean which is fermented to become tempe. Therefore management activities and stock controlling is very important for the company because its impact to the performance especially financially. Those activities often creating problem if not well manage, such as over stock or even creating stock out.This research was conducted to know the optimum soybean stock properly available by using economic order of quantity (EOQ) for a period of time. Result showed that before applying of EOQ the need for raw material for the production period of April 2010 was 2297 kg of soybean, while amount of raw material, while amount of raw material provided by that home industry or quantity of material ordered was 2655.8 kg. However, after applying EOQ it was known that the most economical stock ordered and frequent of stock. Stock ordered was 126,23 kg for 21 times of stock ordered in April 2010. Therefore, total cost for ordering raw material was reduced. Total cost by using EOQ was Rp 6,350.- in one period time of ordering, whilst without using EOQ was Rp 67,000.- causing in the reduction ordering cost in April 2010 Rp 134,650.--.Keywords: economic order of quantity, inventory, tempe

Abstract

Rubber is an export commodity which gave the country’s contribution in increasing Indonesia's foreign exchange effort. PTPN XII Banjarsari isone of the industries which process the latex material. From the whole processing stages, the sorting-part workers were the workers who complained the most about work discomfort. A sorting table with no cavities for the feet would caused workers complain about knee and calf pain. This study aimed to redesign the sorting chair and table based on the anthropometry principle. This research was expected to create table and chair sortation design that can reduce workers’ complaints in order to increase productivity and reduce human error. The data collecting method was done by 3 steps, they were interview, questioner, and direct measurement. Then, the obtained anthropometric data was made into the most appropriate sorting design of chair and the table based on the worker's posture and it was tested on the employee’s complaints, productivity and human error. The results showed that the redesign of the tables and chairs on RSS sortation caused the complaint of sorting workers in PTPN XII Banjarsari decreased. Productivity increased to 8.6%. Human error had decreased, before the redesign it was 8.1% and decreased to 1.9%. The lighting source before redesigned did not fulfill the lighting standard, therefore the redesigned lighting source used an 8 watt LED flourecent with average intensity of 685 lux. It was compatible with the lighting standard to do work that requires average intensity between 500 to 100 lux (Kuswono, 2014). Keywords: anthropometric, ergonomic, RSS

Abstract

Performance is a very important aspect the survival of a company. Optimalize performance of a company is the key of existence. Gading Mas Indonesia Tobacco (GMIT) company is one of the companies in Jemer Regency that export Besuki Na-Oogst tobacco leaf to many countries. One effort, GMIT company to increase competitiveness is assessing performance. To improve its performance, GMIT company declareobjectives in the Work Plant and Budget Based of result in 2014, value of benefict and rendemen has not been reached. This condition requies the evaluation of the performance assessment approach that can improve performance of the company. The aim of this research is build a system dynamic model for performance assesment in GMIT company. The method used in this research is dynamic system method. The approach with this method can determine the behavior of importance variables that change ver time. Simulations done by creating a model based on company’s success area and start in 2015 until 2021. Model was developed by simulatting in several scenarios alternative, optimistic, moderate and pessimistic. Based on the result of data analysis known that the best policy scenario is an optimistic scenario. Optimistic scenario has an average value of dekom production 1463.3 quintals above the basic scenario of 1247.8 quintals per year. The average value of the highest profit of Rp. 4.856.431.700 above the average value of the basic scenario profit of Rp. 4.583.563.100. The average value of the highest employee capabilities with 8.21 point above the base scenario with a value of 6 points.Keywords: performance, PT. GMIT, system dynamic

Abstract

The marketing of bread fruit chips in UD. Jamila Jamur Sukses was still not good, therefore the company has to develop its strategy by improving the quality of bread fruit chips to increase the marketing sales. This research was intended to analyse internal and external factors affecting UD. Jamila Jamur Sukses. The method used was SWOT analysis followed by FMEA analysis to know the fsctors affecting quality. The internal factors involved strength and weakness, and the external factors involved opportunity and threats. Results showed that from the SWOT analysis it was known that the position of the company in cell IV. It means that the company is in the condition of stability . Subsequently, the FMEA analysis showed that the failure of quality involves harder,rancid, and packaging, off flavor were often happen. Abstract

PT. J.A. Wattie is local plantation which process robusta coffee in Jember. The main problem of Indonesian coffee is quality, which can not fulfill the requirement of international market quality. The several factors that influence coffee quality are harvest, sanitation, productionprocesses, place and equipment. Statistical quality control is method to control production process stability, where PT. J.A. Wattie did not apply in coffee productionprocess. The objectives of this research are identify quality output at each stage of processes; observe the correlation of production process and coffee quality based on statistical quality control.Grading and hulling processes according to control chart showed that the process was under control because data plot to be present in interval upper and lower control limit. Pulping and washing processes were out of control because some data plot to be present in outside of upper control limit or lower control limit.Washing process showed other pattern because more than four (4) data make increasing or decreasing pattern. Increasing or decreasing patterns can be indicator of abnormality processes. Abnormality of washing and pulping processes were resulted from the pulper and washer. The rare maintance of pulper and washer can be factor that makes abnormality process.Keywords: coffee, robusta, quality, statistical quality control

Abstract

Coffee is one of the plantation commodities that have high economic value. Coffee beans generally process become roasted coffee beans or ground coffee. Brewed ground coffee still leave the dregs when it mix with boiling water. The effort to reduce the dregs of the ground coffee is making dip coffee products. One of the new innovations was make healthful coffee products with ginger, namely coffee-ginger bag. Ginger rhizome contains bioactive compounds such as phenolic compounds (shogaol and gingerol) and essential oils, such as bisapolen, zingiberen, zingiberol and curcumen, that act as antioxidants. Different roasting level of coffee and concentration of ginger powder affected the flavor and aroma of coffee-ginger bag. The results showed that the most preferred coffee-ginger bag was dip ginger coffee roasted on dark level and 6% ginger powder concentration. It had total polyphenol of 98.72 μg GAE/ml with the antioxidant activity of 44.31%. Coffee-ginger bag roasted on dark level and 6% ginger powder concentration had lightness of 39.4. The highest total content of dissolved solids was coffee-ginger bag roasted on dark level and 0% ginger powder concentration which reached 13.12 mg/ml. Abstract

Abstrak: Salah satu lembaga pendidikan di Jember yakni Yayasan Raudalatul Athfal (RA) Nurut Thalibin yang mengelola beberapa lembaga pendidikan berlokasi di wilayah yang cocok untuk menanam sayur-sayuran, memberikan dasar yang baik bagi siswa terhadap ilmu bercocok tanam. Metode cocok tanam yang dilakukan umumnya masih konvensional, yakni menggunakan tanah sebagai media tanam yang kemudian diikuti dengan penggunaan pupuk dan pestisida sebagai pemercepat pertumbuhan tanaman serta antisipasi terhadap serangan hama. Seiring dengan perkembangan industri, lembaga perlu memberikan tambahan wawasan kepada siswa untuk mulai menggunakan teknologi budidaya tanaman organik yang lebih efisien. Permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra adalah masih lemahnya jiwa kreativitas siswa, keterbatasan siswa dalam memaksimalkan teknologi budidaya pertanian, lemahnya jiwa kewirausahaan siswa dan keterbatasan strategi pemasaran siswa. Solusi yang diberikan adalah pengembangan jiwa kreativitas siswa melalui pelatihan sistem budidaya hidroponik DFT (Deep Flow Technique) tanaman hortikultura berdasarkan metode experiental learning dan pelatihan strategi pemasaran secara online. Tujuan pelaksanaan pengabdian ini adalah untuk: (1) menstimulasi daya kreativitas siswa, (2) mengembangkan strategi budidaya tanaman hidroponik DFT, dan (3) membina siswa untuk mengembangkan jiwa kewirausahaan. Setelah dilaksanakannya pengabdian ini, siswa menunjukkan antusiasme yang tinggi untuk menguasai cara budidaya hidroponik dan perakitan hidroponik sistem DFT. Selain itu, siswa mampu menerapkan strategi pemasaran yang dilakukan secara langsung maupun menggunakan media pemasaran elektronik.Abstract: Raudalatul Athfal Nurut Thalibin manages Play Group, Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, Madrasah Tsanawiyah, and Vocational Schools in agriculture. Located in area suitable for growing vegetables provides reasonable basis for students in the science of farming. The most common method of planting was conventional, using soil as growing media, followed by fertilizers and pesticides to accelerate plant growth and pest control. As industry develops, institutions need to provide sophisticated method for students to start using organic farming technologies more efficiently. The problems faced by partners are the weak spirit of student creativity, limitations of students in maximizing agricultural cultivation technology, weakness of students' entrepreneurial spirit, limitation of student marketing strategies. Solution provided are development of students' creativity through training of DFT (Deep Flow Technique) hydroponic cultivation systems based on experimental learning methods and online marketing strategy training. The Objectives of this program are to (1) stimulate students' creativity, (2) develop DFT hydroponic cultivation strategies, and (3) foster students to develop their entrepreneurial spirit. After the implementation of this training, students showed high enthusiasm for mastering hydroponic cultivation and hydroponic assembly of the DFT system. In addition, students have been able to apply direct marketing strategies or use electronic marketing media.
