Abstract

The research objective is to analyze the use of Simple Present Tense and Adjectives on students' Descriptive Writing at Private Vocational School in Bogor. The method used in this study is Descriptive text analysis using qualitative data. The procedures are conducted by choosing the text from students' Descriptive writing, analyzing data, interpreting data, and concluding the result of the study. The result shows that 1) there are common errors produced using simple present tense in descriptive writing. The total error is 239 errors which the highest frequency is misformation error which consists of 128 errors or 54%. 2) the total error of using Adjectives in Descriptive writing is 25 errors, and the highest frequency of error is misformation which consists of 17 errors or 68%. The findings in this research are for students' analysis of using Simple Present Tense and Adjectives on Descriptive writing. It occurs because of some reasons they are affected by both Interlingual and Intralingual Error.Keywords: simple present tense; adjectives; descriptive writing

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to determine the effects of perception on high risk-taking behavior and vocabulary masteries on the students’ speaking skills. The methodology used in this research is a survey method. The hypothesis test is 1) there are any significant effects of perception on high risk-taking behavior and vocabulary mastery jointly towards the students’ speaking, Sig. 0,000<0.05 and Fo=38.336. Perception on high risk-taking behavior and vocabulary masteries variables together accounted for 48,1% of the variable students’ speaking skill. 2)there is a significant effect of perception on high risk-taking behavior towards the students’ speaking, Sig.= 0.002<0.05 and ?o=3,269. Perception high risk-taking behavior accounted for 18,47 % of the increase of the students’ speaking skills. 3)there is a significant effect of the vocabulary mastery towards the students’ speaking, Sig.=0,000<0,05 and to=7.224. Variable vocabulary mastery accounted for 29,39% of the increase of the students’ speaking skills. In conclusion, teachers are recommended to enhance students’ perception of high-risk behavior and vocabulary masteries to improve their speaking skills.Keywords: perception, high risk-taking behavior, vocabulary mastery, speaking skill

Abstract

This objectives study are 1) to analyze and to know whether or not there are errors of simple present verb in students writing descriptive text; 2) to analyze and to know if there are errors of adjectives in students writing descriptive text; 3) to know the cause of errors simple present tense verb and adjectives in students writing descriptive text. The tenth-grade students at Islamic Centre high school and Nusantara 1 high school in Tangerang in the academic year 2019/2020 are the participants in this current research. The research is a case study and used a descriptive approach. The instrument of this study is the writing test. There were 30 writing had been analyzed. The results show the error of simple present verbs for errors omission (65,26%), addition (5,26%), selection (28,42%), misordering (1,05%). And errors in using adjective percentage: omission (13,95%), addition (0%), selection (76,34%), misordering (9,30%). The reasons for errors in simple present tense and adjectives in writing descriptive text made by students are interlingual and intralingual errors.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of Student Perceptions on School Environment and Discipline Learning Together Against English Learning Achievement, the effect of students' perceptions of school environment on English learning achievement, the effect of learning discipline on English learning achievement. The research method used is descriptive survey method, which is a research method that takes samples from a population and uses a questionnaire as a data collection tool. The samples are two classes from two different schools, namely Mulia Hati Insani Warunggunung Vocational School, and Mathala'ul Anwar Cibuah Vocational School. The results of this study indicate that: 1) there is a significant influence of students' perceptions of the school environment and the discipline of learning together on the achievement of English learning for students of SMK Lebak in Banten Province. This is evidenced by the acquisition of Sig. 0.043 <0.05 and Fcount = 8.3329. 2) There is no significant effect of students' perceptions of the school environment on the achievement of English learning students of Vocational Private Schools in Lebak Regency, Banten Province. This is evidenced by the acquisition of Sig. 0.679> 0.05 and t = 0.415. 3) There is a significant influence of learning discipline on the achievement of English learning of students of Vocational Schools in the Lebak Regency of Banten Province. This is evidenced by the acquisition of Sig. 0.038 <0.05 and t count = 2.869.Key Words: environment; discipline; student achievement; learning English; private vocational school
