Abstract

Chemistry textbooks' questions are important in improving students' thinking skills. Various types of questions are developed, but the effectiveness of these questions in supporting student success is something that is not expressed enough. This study aims to determine aspects of critical thinking skills developed in questions in the Chemistry High School textbook. The research method used is a descriptive method and multistage sampling technique. There are six books analyzed. The research instrument used was in the form of observation sheets classifying questions based on indicators of critical thinking skills. The results showed that the questions developed in Chemistry textbooks were analyzed based on critical thinking skills, including aspects of making simple explanations with a percentage of 28.8%, building basic skills of 20.3%, concluding at 45.8%, giving further explanations of 3.4%, and set strategy and tactics of 1.7%. The questions developed are dominated by concluding questions. Thus, it can be concluded that the questions in the Chemistry High School textbook have not been developed evenly on the five aspects of critical thinking.

Abstract

Praktikum Kimia Organik merupakan salah satu contoh pekerjaan yang memiliki risiko bahaya akibat penggunaan alat dan bahan kimia yang tidak sesuai prosedur. Metode Job Safety Analysis dapat digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi potensi bahaya pada praktikum Kimia Organik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui penggunaan Job Safety Analysis dalam menganalisis potensi bahaya pada praktikum Kimia Organik. Metode penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan 41 mahasiswa Pendidikan Kimia sebagai sampel. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi Job Safety Analysis (JSA) dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukan 16 potensi bahaya yang di identifikasi dengan metode Job Safety Analysis (JSA). Hasil analisis nilai tingkat risiko (Level Risiko) potensi bahaya pada keseluruhan langkah kerja yang terbagi menjadi empat tahap praktikum menunjukan 19% bersifat Risiko Sangat Tinggi (Extreme Risks) , 27% bersifat Risiko Tinggi (High Risks), 19% bersifat Risiko Sedang (Moderate Risks) dan 35% bersifat Risiko Rendah (Low Risks). Upaya keselamatan dan keamanan kerja (K3) yang dapat dilakukan dalam mengatasi risiko potensi bahaya tersebut adalah dengan menggunakan APD sesuai prosedur, mengetahui penggunaan SOP alat laboratorium dan MSDS bahan kimia serta memahami tentang contoh, penyebab, dampak dan pencegahan kecelakaan kerja selama kegiatan praktikum Kimia Organik.

Abstract

Problems that become the study of this research is Exit Survey Analysis In Ensuring Quality Improvement of Academic Quality. This study aims to analyze the exit survey developed at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta as part of the monitoring and evaluation efforts obtained from graduation students. Monitoring and evaluation conducted in this survey exit, thesis supervision, and academic advisor. Analysis was done by considering four aspects of content, administration, analysis, and integration strategy. This research was conducted at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The research was conducted from March to August 2016 at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah with respondents of the graduates from various faculties and study programs. The result of this research was: 1) Based on the content it can be seen that items in service survey, thesis supervision and academic advisor have medium reliability. This provides an opportunity for institutions to review the items that have not been done thoroughly and comprehensively, 2) Based on this online administration has several advantages such as the effectiveness of time, human resources and budget. Nevertheless, the potential weaknesses of the online system also need to be considered among them is the stability of the network and the system itself, 3) To provide a reading of data analysis results that are beneficial for service improvement, the exit survey data is analyzed using Rasch Model. It provides detailed analysis of items and respondents and mentors / advisers in detail, 4) integration strategies have great potential to have a significant impact on quality development efforts. Nevertheless, in this study the integration strategy cannot be done considering the need for further steps such as the publication of results to the leadership, the leadership commitment to the recommendations, as well as monitoring and evaluation of leadership commitments within the agreed timeframe.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kondisi perilaku prokrastinasi akademik mahasiswa Pendidikan Kimia UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta pada adaptasi kebiasaan baru, membandingkan nilai rata-rata berdasarkan angkatan, jenis kelamin, aktivitas kerja dan aktivitas organisasi. Data penelitian dikumpulkan menggunakan angket secara online Google Form yang diadopsi dari Academic Procrastination Scale (APS) Mccloskey dan Scielzo. Data penelitian dianalisis menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perilaku prokrastinasi akademik mahasiswa Pendidikan Kimia pada adaptasi kebiasaan baru umumnya berada pada kategori sedang, yaitu sebesar 61% dengan aspek gangguan perhatian sebagai aspek yang paling mempengaruhi perilaku prokrastinasi akademik. Mahasiswa angkatan 2021 memiliki rata-rata yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan mahasiswa angkatan 2019 dan 2020. Mahasiswa berjenis kelamin laki-laki  memiliki rata-rata lebih tinggi dibandingkan mahasiswi. Mahasiswa yang bekerja memiliki rata-rata lebih tinggi dibandingkan mahasiswa yang tidak bekerja dan mahasiswa yang berorganisasi memiliki rata-rata lebih tinggi dibandingkan mahasiswa yang tidak berorganisasi.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and validate the Three-Tier Chemical Equilibrium Multiple-Choice Test–HOTS (TTCEMCT–HOTS) instrument. The method employed in this study was Research and Development (RD) based on Brookhart’s (2010) indicators of higher-order thinking skills. The development procedure began with a preliminary study, followed by product draft planning and product development. These stages were succeeded by an empirical analysis of the TTCEMCT–HOTS to determine the test instrument’s validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discriminating power. The TTCEMCT–HOTS instrument was implemented with Class XI students of SMAN 4 in South Tangerang City. The results of the study were as follows: (1) the developed TTCEMCT–HOTS instrument met the criteria of 32 valid questions, with a reliability coefficient of 0.82 in the “very high” category, a “moderate” difficulty level, and “good” discriminating power; (2) 46.42% of students could solve HOTS questions, while 53.58% could not; (3) the TTCEMCT–HOTS instrument received a positive response from 80.6% of participants, placing it in the “good” category. This study is expected to provide an alternative method for measuring students' higher-order thinking skills using a three-tier test instrument integrated with HOTS indicators.

Abstract

AbstractThe problem of this research is the effectiveness of learning chemical by using the method lab work in the laboratory.The main study on this research was focused on factors affecting the effectiveness of learning, covering internal and external factors. The internal factor in this research is the student’s motivation study and the external factor is the chemistry lab management. The purposes of this research are: 1) the motivation to study of high school students in South Tangerang, 2) the effectiveness of learning chemical with the use of laboratory,  3 ) analyze the contribution of the student’s motivation to study, 4) management of chemistry lab in senior high school in South Tangerang.A method of this research is a method of survey with the quantitative approach towards two public high schools and two private senior high school in South Tangerang with the total sample 200 students. The instrument used in this research is the questionnaire with Likert scale. The research result in public senior high school and private senior high school showed that in general the activity lab work in the laboratory plays an important role in supporting chemical learning and give effectiveness in understandingof chemical lesson and to increase the student’s interest in learning so that the student’s learning motivation becomes fairly high towards the chemical subjects have been taught. Keywords:Chemical Laboratory, Motivation to Study, Effectiveness of Learning

Abstract

This study attempts to develop research instruments the psychomotor lab work chemical the electrolyte solution and nonelectrolyte. On the feasibility and knows, the assessed by an observer. Model 4D stage used to define, design, development, and disseminate. This research is bounded reached the stage of development. Feasibility an instrument used in research of chief consisting of seven aspects with the each every aspect which is language 89,14 %, construction 89,71 %, 86,43 % matter, objectifies 86,67 %, systematic 84,29 %, practical 92,17 %, and funding of the 85,71 %. The technique of data analysis includes data processing and instrument reliability assessment by the observer. The results of this research and development show that assessment instrument was developed to have a reliability of 0.89 and meet excellent quality based on an assessment of observer with the percentage of 87.73%. Thus, psychomotor aspects of assessment instruments are viable and can be used as one of the assessment tools in chemical teaching material on activities of the electrolyte solution and nonelectrolyte. Abstract

The aims of this study are to analyze the interpersonal relationships between chemistry teachers and their students, to investigate chemistry teacher interpersonal behaviour using Model for Interpersonal Teacher Behaviour (MITB), and to identify the interpersonal behaviour profile of chemistry teacher according to student’s perception. The data were collected from 472 eleventh grade students of science class in 5 Public Senior High School and 5 Private Senior High School in South Tangerang Municipality who were randomly sampled using teacher-student interpersonal relationships questionnaire adapted from Questionnaire on Teacher Interaction (QTI). Data were analyzed using Rasch model in Winsteps version 3.73. Results showed that in general, it was indicated that the interpersonal relationships of chemistry teachers and their students are categorized as relatively good. The teachers were considered to have adequately dominant and very cooperative behaviour with students in classroom. Meanwhile, in terms of interpersonal behaviour scale, students perceived their teachers as having higher rate on leadership, helping/friendly, and understanding behaviour than the hostility behaviour. Then, according to interpersonal behaviour profile, it showed that chemistry teachers in South Tangerang Municipality were identified as authoritative.
