Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the differences in student learning outcomes based on the low student learning outcomes which are below the KKM value ≥ 70 and aimed at knowing the magnitude of the influence of the use of cooperative models Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) with those taught using conventional models of class X class 10 Pontianak SMA on the material of the atomic structure sub protons, neutrons, electrons and isotopes, isobar, isoton. The form of the research used was quasi-experimental research with a pretest-posttest design control group research design. The sample in this study was class XA students as the control class and XB as the experimental class. The data collection technique used was a measurement technique. Data collection tools used were interviews and test results of student learning in the form of essays. The results of statistical tests using the Mann Whitney U-test with α = 5% obtained a probability of <0.05, which meanth that Ho was rejected. These results indicated that there were significant differences between the learning outcomes of class X students of Pontianak State Senior High School on the material of atomic structure sub proton, neutron, electron and isotope, isobar, isoton. The magnitude of the influence of the use of the cooperative model Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) on the atomic structure material of protons, neutrons, electrons and isotopes, isobars, isotons on student learning outcomes calculated by Effect Size was 0.431 which is categorized as medium. This showed that the use of the cooperative model Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) type had a categorical influence on the learning outcomes of class X students of SMA Negeri 10 Pontianak on the material of atomic structure sub proton, neutron, electron and isotope, isobar, isoton.

Abstract

Student learning outcomes were influenced by learning model which applied by teacher. One of the learning model required active student involvement in the learning process was the guided inquiry approach. The guided inquiry learning model emphasized on the discovery and mastery of the concept through the experimental process. This research aimed to identify between the differences of student’s learning outcomes by using guided inquiry learning model and using direct learning model on the sub-material of deposition reaction and the influence of guided inquiry learning model on students’ learning outcomes. This research used quasi experimental design and this purposive sampling technique to determine the sample. The sample of research was the students of grade XI IPA SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Pontianak. Data collection used a test and observation method. Data analysis used SPSS 17.0 for Windows. Based on the result, there were differences between learning outcomes using guided inquiry learning model and direct learning model. This research used Effect Size (ES) with ES = 2,44 as high category with 49,27%, mean guided inquiry learning model gave high effectiveness to students’ learning outcomes. Based on the research results, the guided inquiry learning model was effectively applied in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Pontianak.Keywords: Learning outcomes, Guided inquiry, Deposition reaction

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this research to determine a difference and the influence of cooperative learning model Numbered Heads Together (NHT) assisted Mind Map multiple representation the ability of students. This research was Quasi Experimental Research with research design Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Samples were selected used technique purposive sampling, the class X3 as an experimental class and the class X2 as a control class. Data collected techniques in this study was the measurement techniques, direct observation and communication techniques. Data collected used the achievement test, the observation sheet and questionnaire. Based on the results of data analysis used non-parametric test U-Mann Whitney obtained significant value 0.000 < 0.05 which showed that there was differences in the ability multiple representation control class and experimental class. Effect Size value obtained is 0.78 which belongs to the category of medium. It can be concluded that the cooperative learning model Numbered Heads Together (NHT) assited Mind Map affect the ability of students multiple representation with contribution as 28.23%.Keywords: Hydrocarbons, mind map, multiple representation, Numbered Heads Together

Abstract

Acid-base is taught at SMA Negeri 1 Nanga Pinoh by using practical methods. Therefore, in order to deliver the material effectively and ideally, the proper guidebook is absolutely required. This study aimed to develop a valid, practical, and effective practical guide for acid-base material based on the local content of West Kalimantan. Using an R & D model of Borg and Gall, seven out of eleven stages of material design were employed. They were research and data collection, planning, draft development, initial product trial, initial product revision, main field trial, and revision of operational products.The data collection technique used were observation, questionnaire, and measurement. The instruments were observation and questionnaire sheet, and posttest questions. The study was obtained: (1) the coefficient of validity from the assessment of media, material and language experts were 1.00; (2) the response value on the initial field trial was 88.8%, and the response value on the main field trial was 89.16%; and (3)The student learning outcomes after taught using this practical guide were sharply improved by 97%. In conclusion, the practical guide for acid-base material based on the local content of West Kalimantan is effective to be used by the students of SMA Negeri I Nanga Pinoh.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the learning sources used by students in Basic Laws of Chemistry that combines Concepts and Chemical Calculations completed by using Multiple Representations aspect. This study aimed to develop a valid, practical, and effective of student’s worksheet based on Multiple Representation for Basic Laws of Chemistry Class at the tenth Grade Natural Sciences of SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya. Using a Research and Development (R & D) of Borg and Gall model and One-shot case study design, the sample was selected by employing purposive sampling. The study indicated that student’s worksheet based on Multiple Representation was valid by 97,36% for material experts and 89,59% for media experts. Student’s worksheet was considered practical and received a positive response with an average practicality value of 95,58% for teacher responses and 88,64% for students responses. Additionally, student’s worksheet was effective, as the students successfully and classically completed the material by 79,68%. Therefore, student’s worksheet based on Multiple Representation is suitable as an alternative learning sources for the tenth grade Natural Sciences students.

Abstract

The students problem in understanding the covalent bonds was caused by the ineffective learning instructional media which is used by the teacher didn’t fit the student’s characteristic. Therefore, it is important to develop instructional media of Petalen for covalent bonds class. The validation of the media is validated in three aspects. They were validity from the results of the game, practicality from the results of the questionnaire, and the effectiveness from the results of the pre and post tests. This study used a Research and Development (R & D) model of Borg and Gall conducted in seven stages. The study showed that instructional media of Petalen was suitable for teaching learning process. It can be seen from the results of the material and media aspects by 1,00 and 1,00 which were valid. The results of the practicality of the questionnaires on the small and main tryouts were 94,55% and 92,81% and were considered practical. The results of the effectiveness of the N-Gain on the small and main tryouts were 0,77 and 0,66 (high category). Therefore, instructional media of Petalen was valid and effective. It is suitable to be used as the learning instructional media in Chemistry class.

Abstract

Colloid is chemistry material which can be teached by experiment method. However, teacher’s practical guide didn’t match with the students characteristics and laboratory equipment in SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya. Therefore, this research aimed to develope the colloid practical guide based on guide inquiry. This research method was used Borg and Gall’s development model. Sampling technique used in this research was purposive sampling technique. Samples are students at eleventh grade in IPA 1 and IPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya. The data was collected by using questionnaires and posttest sheet. The results of the research showed that the colloid practical guide are valid, practice, and effective. Validity test consists of three aspects (content, media, and language) were obtained coefficient validity with the average 1.00 or can be categorized "very valid". The practicality test used questionnaires for teacher and students which obtained the average percentage is 91.6% or can be categorized "very practice". Meanwhile, the effectiveness test obtained the average of posttest is 94, with the completeness classical is 100% or can be categorized "very effective". Based on the results, the colloid practical guide based on guide inquiry can be used as learning materials for students at eleventh grade in the second semester of IPA SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya.Keywords: Based on Guide Inquiry, Colloid, Practical Guide, Research and Development

Abstract

ABSTRACT The process of learning chemistry which only focused on teacher as informant caused the students’ memory lower. This could make the students’ learning outcomes lower, thus, it was needed STAD type of Cooperative Learning Method which had the process of interaction between student and teacher, and could help the students comprehend the material. Therefore, it was necessary to make a research which had the purpose to know the difference between students’ learning outcomes and memory which used STAD type ofCooperative Learning Method and lectures teaching method as well as how large the effect of STAD type of Cooperative Learning Method on salt hydrolysis material was. This research was Quasi Experimental Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample of the research was choosen by using saturated sampling which XI IPA 1 as experimental class and XI IPA 2 as control class. The techniques of data collection used measurement technique, observation, and interview while the tools of data collection used tests such as essayquestion, observation sheet, and interview guide. The statistical analysis of posttest result using U-man whitney test obtained significant value 0.000. This value was smaller than α (0.005) which meant that there was difference in learning outcome between experimental and control class. The statistical analysis result of U-man whitney delayed test obtained significant value 0.006, this value was smaller than α (0.005) which meant that there was difference between students’ memory in experimental and control class. The calculation of effect size showed value 1.64 with high criteria which gave high effect on students’ learning outcomes which was 44.95%, while the calculation of students’ memory effect size showed value 0.69 with moderate criteria which gave effect on students’ memory which was 26,42%. Abstract

This study is motivated by the student’s problems in comprehending the Mol concept and Chemical Calculations. It is aimed at producing the student’s worksheet based on Learning Cycle 5E at the Mole Concept and Chemical Calculations for the tenth grade students of Science and Math class of SMA Negeri 1 Mandor. Using Research and Develoment (R&D) model of 4D, this study focused on three stages of the model; Define, Design, and Develop. The sample of this study were 21 students of SMA Negeri 1 Mandor. The data collection techniques were an interview, observation, measurement, and indirect communication. To complete the data, this study employed validation sheet, student’s and teacher’s questionnaires, and the result of pre-and post-tests as the instruments. The study revealed that the validation criteria validated by the experts was strongly valid (99,65%), and the media criteria was also strongly valid (95,83%). The results of the practicality of the try small-scale out were 81,12%, and the main try out were 95,83%. In other words, both small-scale and main try out were considered practical. Additionally, the N-gain showed the effectiveness criteria of the student’s worksheet based on Learning Cycle 5E at the Mole Concept and Chemical Calculations on the main try out by 0,84% (highly satisfactory). In conclusion, the student’s worksheet based on Learning Cycle 5E at the Mole Concept and Chemical Calculations is valid and suitable to be used as the learning materials for the tenth grade students of science and math class of SMA Negeri 1 Mandor.

Abstract

The background of this research is lack of student’s learning to the tenth grade students of SMA Adisucipto Sungai Raya, due to the less of student’s comprehension especially about concept of compound hydrocarbon system. Therefore, it was needed the method of learning to increase the student’s comprehension about appropriate concept with characteristic both of the subject and student. The aim of this research was to know the differences of student’s learning and the increasement of student’s learning by using cooperative learning method type RTE in chapter of compound hydrocarbon system with couple card. The kind of this research was Pre-Experimental one group pre-test and post-test design research with subjects of this research were thirteen students from grade XI IPA of SMA Adisucipto Sungai Raya. The technique and the instrument to collect the data was using student’s learning test, observation, and interview. The result of data analysis showed the mean score of pre-test was 27,21 and the mean score of post-test was 75,86. The statistic result of Wilcoxon showed that the score was 0,01 less than α (0,01 < 0,05) that mean there were the differences of student’s learning and the influence of student’s learning by using cooperative learning method type RTE with couple card. The increasement of student’s learning was known by counting the gain score of 0,66 in medium score categorize. In this case, the cooperative learning method type RTE with couple card can be used in chapter of compound hydrocarbon system to increase the student’s learning.Keywords: Couple Card, Rotating Trio Exchange (RTE), Compound Hydrocarbon System
