Abstract

ABSTRACT This research had the purpose to find out the difference between the students’ learning outcomes which were taught by using NHT type of Cooperative Learning Method Assisted Video as Media and Lectures Method Assisted Video as Media as well as to find out how large the effect of NHT type of Cooperative Learning Method Assisted Video as Media in XI IPA class of SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Ambawang. This research was Quasi Experimental Research Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sampling technique was saturated sample based on the students’ daily tests scores. The techniques of data collection used measurement, indirect observation and direct communication techniques. The data analysis result showed that the mean score of experimental class (72.50) was higher compared to the mean score of control class which was 60.50. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test resultsshowed that one class did not distribute normally so that it was done the statistical analysis using U-mannwhitneytest which obtained 0.028. This result was smaller than α(0.05) which meant that there was difference between experimental and control class. The calculation of effect size showed the value of 0.54 in moderate category and referred to the table Z which obtained 20.54% value. It showed that NHT type of Cooperative Learning Method Assisted Video as Media gave effect on students’ learning outcomes.Keywords : Learning Outcomes, The Reaction Rate, Numbered Heads Together (NHT)

Abstract

Methods applied in schools have not been able to make students understand the sub-material of polar and nonpolar covalent compounds. One of the success factors of the practicum method is the use of the right practicum tools. Therefore, it is necessary to develop practical tools to make it easier for students to understand the concepts of polar and nonpolar covalent compounds. This study aims to produce a polarity and practicum tool on sub-material polar and nonpolar covalent compounds that are valid, practical, and effective. Validity is measured from the validator's assessment on material aspects and media using a validation sheet. Practicality is measured using teacher and student response questionnaires. Effectiveness is measured by the results of students' Pretest and Postest. This type of research is the development of the ADDIE Research and Development (R & D) model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The results of the analysis show that the polarity practicum tool developed from the material and media aspects was stated to be very valid with an average validity value of 0.83 and 0.89, respectively. The practicality test results obtained very practical criteria with a practicality value of 96.64%. The aspect of effectiveness using the N-Gain value in the field trial results obtained N-Gain values of 0.72 with very high criteria. Thus, the polarity practicum tool developed is suitable for use as a sub-material learning media for polar and nonpolar covalent compounds.

Abstract

The low knowledge of student learning outcomes in the binary compound nomenclature for class X MIA at SMA Negeri 1 Tekarang is due to the difficulty and confusion of students in writing the names for binary compound nomenclature. One of the factors for the success of the learning method is the use of appropriate learning media. A learning medium is needed, namely the Jarumia learning media to make it easier for students to understand the concept of chemical compound nomenclature. This study aims to develop the Jarumia learning media in the binary compound nomenclature for class XI at SMA Negeri 1 Tekarang which is valid and practical. The instruments used were validation sheets and teacher and student response questionnaires. This type of research is the ADDIE (Analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation) model of Research and Development (R&D). The results of the analysis show that the Jarumia learning media developed is valid with an average value of 0.93 with high criteria. The percentage of the results of the questionnaire responses to the initial field trials and the main field trials were 89.74% and 85.45%, respectively, with very practical criteria. Thus, the needle learning media developed is suitable for use as a learning medium on compound nomenclature material, especially in the binary compound sub-material.

Abstract

Based on the results of teacher interviews low student learning outcomes on sub-material the name of an alkylatine compound because students have not mastered the rules of naming compounds alkyana. The method used in learning is the lecture method. The purpose of this research is to develop a valid learning method, the very and effective conducted in SMA Negeri 9 Pontianak kelasd XI Mia 1 and Mia 3. The type of research used is Research and Dovelopment (R&D). The research and development of chemical relay game method is done through 7 stages of research: data collection, planning, initial product development, initial field trial, initial product revision, main field trials, revision of operational product in class XI students MIA 1 which amounted to 35 people and involving 1 teacher. Results of the analysis showed that the game validation of the chemical relay of the material and media aspects of each of 0.94 and 0.87 with very valid criteria. The percentage of the student response poll and the initial field test teacher and main field test respectively amounted to 97.5% and 92.93% are included in highly-pratist criteria. The results of N-Gain analysis on the initial field trials and main field trials were obtained at a value of 0.83 and 0.90 of high criteria respectively. Thus the methods of the chemical relay game developed worthy of use as a method of learning on sub-material of the name of the Alkyana compound in the XI high school class.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the absence of the practicum activities, especially the acid-base indicator learning media, in several schools such as SMA Adisucipto Sungai Raya, SMAN 2 Sungai Raya and MAS Al Mustaqim. This problem is caused by the limited school facilities. For this reason, learning media is required to facilitate the practicum class. This study aimed to determine the validity and practicality of Bioselulose-based natural acid base media. This study used an ADDIE model of four stages ; Analysis, Design, Develop, and Implementation. As many as ten Chemistry teachers from Senior High Schools in Kecamatan Sungai Raya participated in this study. The sample was selected by using purposive sampling technique, and the schools were chosen based on the availability of the material, accessibility of the location, and the school accreditation. Data collection techniques and tools used indirect communication, questionnaires and validation sheets. The results of the validity analysis showed that an average of 0.92 with a very valid category, which meanth that the media was suitable to be used in the learning process. The results of the practicality showed an average of 95 with a very practical category. Therefore, the Biocelullose-based natural acid base media was valid, practical, and suitable for the practicum class in schools.

Abstract

A practical guide is an important role in conducting an effective practicum class. It helps students to take part in the activities in accordance with the learning goals. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a practical guide of electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solutions for students of SMA Negeri 1 Rasau Jaya. Using an R & D model of Borg and Gall, seven out of eleven stages of material design were employed. The stages used in this study were research and data collection, planning, draft development, initial product trial, initial product revision, main field trial, and revision of operational products. The data collection technique used were observation, questionnaire, and measurement. The instruments were observation and questionnaire sheet, and posttest question. The study revealed that the practically gathered from the teacher questionnaire was 91,0% and from the student’s response was 83,1%. The effectiveness of the practical guide was 91,8%. Hence, the practical guide of electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solutions for students of SMA Negeri 1 Rasau Jaya is effective and valid. Therefore, it can be concluded that a practical guide is highly recommended to be used in the practicum class.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aimed at finding out not only the difference of students’ learning outcomes taught by using peer tutor remedial teaching method and lecturing remedial teaching method on Atomic Structure class at grade XI IPA SMA Negeri I Sanggau but also the influence of the peer tutor remedial teaching methodon Atomic Structure class. Using quasi experimental and Nonequivalent Control Group Designs, this study employed 2 classes as the samples; grade XI IPA 2 class as the experiment group and grade XI IPA I class as the control group. The data collection technique used were measurement, observation, interview, and documentation. While the instruments used were Atomic Structure essay test and remedial test. The results of U Mann Whitneydata analysis  obtained  level of 5%, and probability score of Pvalue (0,043) < (0,05), so that the Ho was rejected dan and the Ha was accepted. In other words, there were significant differences of experiment and control groups. It could be seen from the Effect Size (ES) count of 0,66which considered in average category and Z table which indicated the significant effect to the students’ learning achievement (24,54%) to learning outcomes.Keywords: Remedial Teaching, Peer Tutor Method and Learning Outcomes

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study was initiated by the students’ low learning outcomes on Chemistry subject and the teachers’ preference in using lecture method in teaching learning process.This study aimed at 1) finding out the differences of students’ learning outcomes between the use of flash media-assisted practical method and lecture method on hydrocarbon class at grade XI MIA of SMA Muhammadiyah I Pontianak. Using quasi experimental design and Control Group Posttes Design, this study employed the students of grade XI MIA 2 as the samples of experiment group, andthe students of grade XI MIA 2 as the samples of control group. The data collection techniques used were measurement and observation. While the instruments employed were observation sheet and essay. TheU-Mann Whitneytest revealed that the post test score of 0,0140< 0,05 Ho was rejected, while the Ha one was accepted. It means that there was correlation of students’ learning outcomes between the experiment and the control groups. In addition, the effect size result was 1,086 > 0,8 and considered high which indicated the positive effect of flash media-assisted practical method in enhancing students’ learning achievement.Keywords: flash, learning outcomes, hydrocarbon, practical method

Abstract

This study aimed to produce a module of basic chemistry teaching skills based on a valid and practical scientific approach. Using an R&D model of 3-D, three out of four stages of material design were employed, they were Define, Design, and Develop stages. The data collection technique used in this study were interviews and indirect communication. The instruments were interview guides, validation questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. The study was obtained : (1) the validity of material aspects was 95% and the validity of media aspects was 97.22% with very valid criteria; (2) the practicality of the module from individual trials was 96% and from the small group trials was 81.06% with very practical criteria. In conclusion, the module of basic chemistry teaching skill based on scientific approach is appropriate to be used in the subject of Basic Ability to Teach Chemistry.

Abstract

Desa Sungai Limau, Kecmatan Sungai Kunyit memiliki pertumbuhan perkembangan usaha kuliner dan rumah makan karena terdapat sekolah serta perusahaan-perusahaan yang berada di desa tersebut. Hal ini memberikan dampk positif bagi masyarakat, namun namun juga menimbulkan dampak negatif dari sisi lingkungan. Dampak negatif dari usaha kuliner ini adalah volume limbah minyak goreng bekas (jelantah) yang tinggi. Ini terjadi karena masyarakat membuang minyak jelantah begitu saja. Limbah minyak jelantah apabila tidak dikelola dengan baik akan menjadikan lingkungan kotor dan dapat mencemari air serta tanah. Untuk mengatasi masalah itu, perlu inovasi dalam pengelolaan minyak jelantah dengan melibatkan masyarakat sehingga limbah dapat dimanfaatkan menjadi produk yang bernilai ekonomis. Salah satu potensi limbah minyak goreng adalah kandungan asam lemak yang tinggi sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan menjadi sabun cuci yang ramah lingkungan. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat untuk meningkatkan nilai tambah minyak jelantah dengan mengolahnya menjadi sabun cuci piring. Pelatihan ketrampilan pengolahan minyak jelantah menjadi sabun cuci piring telah dilaksanakan bagi masyarakat di desa Sungai Limau, dan memberikan manfaat: 1) Masyarakat mengetahui dampak negatif minyak goreng bekas terhadap kesehatan dan lingkungan, 2) Masyarakat mengetahui dan terampil mengaplikasikan teknologi tepat guna pengolahan minyak jelantah menjadi sabun cuci.
