Abstract

Artificial lighting is considered light pollution that affects the physiology and behavior of insects. Morphological characteristics of field crickets (Gryllus bimaculatus) have compound eyes that are sensitive to specific colors. In this case, light has a major effect in influencing behavior described in two main behaviors, namely stridulation pattern behavior (singing) and movement patterns. This experiment aimed to determine the behavior of crickets to various types of light color and temperature changes in the environment as a simulation of the effects of light pollution. The experimental results showed an increase in the aggressiveness of the movement and the frequency of stridulation in blue light and when the ambient temperature increased.

Abstract

STEM-based learning (Sience, technology, engineering and mathematics) is a new trend in 21st century learning. The goal of this study is to determine the effectiveness of STEM-based E-Modules to enhance learners’ inquiry skills on the subject of environmental pollution. The research population consisted of 340 students consisting of 190 students at SMP Negeri 3 Purwodadi and 150 students at SMP Negeri 2 Toroh. The research sample used 68 students at SMPN 3 Purwodadi and 68 students at SMPN 3 Toroh. The results of the N-Gain score test showed that the posttest value of the Limited Scale for the experimental class at SMP 3 Purwodadi ranged from 83.36% in the high category and 82.88% with the high category at SMPN 2 Toroh. Meanwhile, in the operational field scale test, the posttest scores ranged from 86.44% with the high category of SMPN 3 Purwodadi and 89.71% with the high category of SMPN 2 Toroh. The results of the Wilcoxon test at SMP N 2 Toroh and SMP 3 Purwodadi obtained a sig. 000 <0.05, then it can be implied that the hypothesis H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, meaning that there is a difference in the average value of the students before being given learning using STEM-Based E-Modules and after using STEM-Based E-Modules on the subject of environmental pollution learning. The product implication is in the form of STEM-based E-Modules which are expected to increase students' inquiry skills. Suggestions for the development of a 3-dimensional Virtual Laboratory-based E-Module that integrates STEM.

Abstract

Lesson plan (RPP) serves as a reference for educators to carry out teaching and learning activities more directed and effective. RPP and assessment are closely related and determine success in classroom learning. Problems related to RPP are also felt by Biology subject teachers in Sragen Regency, Central Java. The teachers' understanding of the preparation of the lesson plans is not sufficient and have not made innovative variations in the lesson plans they made. Therefore, solutions are needed to overcome these problems. Service activities are carried out using training and workshop methods. The training method is carried out in the form of lectures with materials on the Independent Curriculum and Innovative Learning Models which are carried out online SMA Negeri 2 Sragen, as well as the HOTS Assessment and Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) which are conducted online using the zoom platform. The result of this service activity is that teachers' understanding of the characteristics of the merdeka curriculum increases. In addition, more than 50% of teachers are able to understand the core-concept-based curriculum or Learning Progression, develop concept-based lesson plans, increase understanding of the use of local learning resources and their development, and understand the preparation of HOTS assessments.
