Abstract

One of the environmental parameters that need to be monitored is ocean waves. Waves that occur at sea have random, dynamic, and complex movements. Height measurements and wave periods are difficult to formulate accurate and simplification is needed through mathematical equations in the form of sinusoidal. Therefore, the marine information system is very important for data storage media, data processing, and visualization of measurement data so that it is monitored in real-time. This research was made to build a website-based coastal wave height monitoring information system for wave height data display data from the measurement of the wave buoy instrument. This research was conducted by utilizing data from a wave height measuring instrument that was transmitted to an online database. Wave height data is displayed in the form of real-time data, real-time graphs with data sampling of 30 minutes, average data for one day, and average data for one month. Keywords: Wave height, system information, real-time

Abstract

Coral fish are organisms with the largest amount of biomass and are also large organisms that can be found in coral reef ecosystems. The tendency of coral fish is that they do not move around and are always in a certain area and are very relocated although still many (Nybakken, 1988). The coral fish that are often found on the island of Lancang is the Tiger Grouper fish (Epinepheus fuscoguttatus). Grouper fish have a high economic value if fishermen do good cultivation on this Lancang island. The method used was mobile and controlled hydroacoustics, located in Pulu Lancang Thousand Islands. The instruments used are SIMRAD EK 15. The number of samples measured as many as 3 heads with a total length ranging from 21,70 cm to 42,50 cm and has the total weight of the three fish of 186,9 gr to 640 gr with a recording time of 5 minutes was done at the Dock and Floating Net Cage. The sounding results of tiger grouper were then analyzed using Echoview 4.0 and microsoft excel. The results of the analysis showed the average TS value in 3 tiger groupers whose total length ranged from -34,77 dB to -32,37 dB and the longer the total length of the fish, the greater the TS value.

Abstract

Abstract

Fish stock estimation is very important information as basis for developing fisheries. Until now, estimation of demersal fish stock is usually used swept area method by using trawl net fishing. However, there was the problem related to accuracy of fish abundant estimation that is how much the demersal fish could be accurately caught by the trawl net. To solve this problem, an approach estimation of dmersal fish stock using acoustic survey conducted simultaneously with demersal trawl fishing. Research activities were conducted on May, August and November 2012 in Tarakan waters, North Kalimantan using echosounder Simrad EY60-120 kHz and bottom trawl net with 26 m headrope. The result show that the catchability coefficient of trawl net estimated  0,3, it means that the trawl net could be able to catch 30% of demersal fish during swept area trawl fishing.

Abstract

The single beam echosounder CruzPro PcFF80 with 200 kHz of frequencies was used for recordings of coral acoustic backscattering. The objectives of this research are to analyze the backscattered signals and to determine the strength and characteristics of coral acoustic backscatters. Data collection was conducted in April 2013 which located in the Seribu Island waters. Acoustics data recording was carried out in Seribu Islands, using single beam echosounder (SBES) CruzPro PcFF80 with operating at 200 and 50 kHz frequencies. An underwater camera was used to validate the acoustic recordings data. The results show that average value of surface backscattering strength (SS) several type of coral at 200 kHz frequency varied between -17.99 dB up -14.65 dB, whereas at 50 kHz frequency varied between -13.33 dB up -9.22 dB. The use of different frequencies will greatly affect the high and low levels of absorption, so that affecting to acoustic backscatter strength.

Abstract

Yield and catch data obtained from statistic and fisheries commercial data are incomplete and inaccurate. Effort to increase the accurate data and survey method become necessary to estimate the yield potential in Indonesia. The aim of this study was to detect the pelagic schooling (target strength/TS approach) by using hydroacoustic. Those detection were used to describe insitu condition of pelagic fishes in Palu Bay, Central Sulawesi. Result of this study on depth strata, dominant schooling (12 schools) found in 100 to 150 m, then followed by 9 schools in 0 to 50 m and 2 schools in 50 to 100 m. Fish caught in Palu Bay that landed in Labuan Bajo fishing port dominated by large pelagic. Those information were relevant with the TS data. The longest size of skipjack was 74 cm in depth of 142 m. Medium size of the smallest value of 5 cm was in depth 57 m with an average size of 27.80 cm.

Abstract
