Abstract

Cinnamon bark (Cinnamomum burmanii), Phaleria macrocarpa fruit, moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera L.), and bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) are plants that often used for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. Each plant's antidiabetic activity is known, but the plant combination's synergistic effect is not apparent. The concept of polyherbal is to increase the therapeutic effect and decrease the concentration of a single polyherbal extract. The possibility of changing the bioavailability of polyherbal products in the form of simplicia into tablet form is a big challenge. This result was to test the effectiveness of the polyherbal tablet combination of 2 extracts, which can be antidiabetic. Three types of poly-herbal tablets used, namely a mixture of cinnamon - bay leaf (dose 1), a mixture of cinnamon - phaleria fruit (2) tablets, and a mixture of moringa leaves - bay leaf (3). The three types of polyherbal tablets were given orally two times a day to alloxan-induced diabetic rats. Tablets are given for 24 days, and lowering blood glucose levels is carried out every specific time. The statistical analysis results showed a significant effect of the three polyherbal tablets in reducing blood sugar levels of diabetic rats. Polipoliherbal tablets mixed with cinnamon bark - the crown of gods were the most effective at reducing blood glucose levels in rats than other polyherbal tablets. Kulit batang kayu manis (Cinnamomum burmanii), buah mahkota dewa (Phaleria macrocarpa), daun kelor (Moringa oleifera L.)  dan daun salam (Syzygium polyantum) merupakan tanaman yang sering digunakan untuk pengobatan diabetes melitus. Aktifitas antidiabetes masing-masing tanaman telah diketahui namun efek sinergis dari kombinasi tanaman tersebut belum jelas. Konsep polipoliherbal adalah meningkatkan efek terapi dan menurunkan konsentrasi ekstrak poliherbal tunggal. Kemungkinan perubahan bioavailabilitas produk poliherbal dalam bentuk simplisia diubah menjadi bentuk tablet merupakan tantangan besar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menguji efektifitas tablet polipoliherbal kombinasi 2 ekstrak yang berpotensi sebagai antidiabetes. Tablet poliherbal yang digunakan sebanyak 3 jenis yaitu tablet campuran kayu manis - daun salam (dosis 1),  tablet campuran kayu manis - mahkota dewa (dosis 2) dan tablet campuran daun kelor - daun salam (dosis 3). Ketiga jenis tablet poliherbal diberikan secara oral 2 kali sehari pada tikus diabetik yg diinduksi aloksan.  Tablet diberikan selama 24 hari dan pengamatan terhadap efek penurunan kadar glukosa darah dilakukan setiap waktu tertentu. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan  terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari ketiga tablet polipoliherbal dalam menurunkan kadar gula darah tikus diabetik. Tablet polipoliherbal campuran kulit batang kayu manis - mahkota dewa paling efektif menurunkan kadar glukosa darah  tikus dibandingkan tablet polipoliherbal lainnya

Abstract

Diabetic wounds are one of the complications of Diabetes Mellitus (DM), which are at risk of infection and can end in amputation. Colocasia leaves contain metabolites of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, steroids and saponins, which have antibacterial and antioxidant activity and can accelerate wound healing by helping cell regeneration. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of taro leaves extract emulgel worked for wound healing in diabetic rats. The test animals were 25 white male rats divided into five groups, namely positive control (applied with Cutimed® gel), negative control (applied with emulgel base), standard control (non-diabetic rats), Treatment-1 (applied emulgel once a day) and Treatment-2 (applied emulgel twice a day). Male white rats were injected with alloxan to make them diabetic and, additionally, given a grade 2 incision. Visual observations started from day 1 to day 16. The results of statistical analysis for measuring the diameter of the incision (Morton's method) and visual observation of the wound (method of scoring) obtained sig α 0.05, meaning that the treatment groups 1 and 2 were significantly different from the negative control. Treatment-2 produced nearly the same effect as the positive control. The conclusion was that 5% Taro Leaf extract emulgel applied twice daily was the most effective in healing cuts in diabetic rats for 13 days.

Abstract

Purple leaves contain flavonoids as anti-inflammatory. Aloe vera contains lignin compounds as bioenchancers. Utilization of these two plants in the form of topical emulgel preparations with the hope of being able to reach the systemic circulation. This study aims to formulate purple leaf extract and aloe vera extract in the form of an emulgel. The formula was made in 4 variations with concentrations of aloe vera extract F0 (0%), F1 (2.5%), F2 (3%), F3 (3.5%). Quality parameters include organoleptic, pH, spreadability, viscosity, cycling test, and penetration test using cell diffusion method franz. The results showed that the aloe vera extract emulgel formulation had good physical quality, namely organoleptic viscous green color, characteristic aromatic odor, pH 4.66-5.01, spreadability 5.63-6.03 cm2, viscosity 8100-9100 cPs. The results of the stability cycling test did not show changes in organoleptic and pH of the preparation, while the viscosity of the preparation decreased. Penetration test results based on statistical analysis of purple leaf extract emulgel obtained p> 0.05, which means that the addition of aloe vera extract bioenhancer did not have a significant effect on the value of the cumulative amount and flux.Keywords: emulgel, bioenchancer, penetration, franz diffusion cell

Abstract

Desa Jambuluwuk di Kecamatan Ciawi kebanyakan penduduknya adalah petani dan pedagang buah pisang. Kebun penduduk juga banyak ditumbuhi tanaman talas. Limbah kulit pisang dan daun talas saat ini hanya dibuang atau dimanfaatkan sebagai pakan ternak. Kulit pisang dan daun talas mengandung senyawa yang bermanfaat untuk kesehatan, seperti untuk pengobatan dan pencegahan penyakit hipertensi, diabetes militus (DM) ataupun sebagai antioksidan.Keduanya juga berpotensi untuk dapat diolah menjadi pangan fungsional seperti biskuit. Biskuit dengan rasanya yang manis, gurih dan renyah, dapat dikonsumsi oleh segala usia. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan ketrampilan mitra sehingga dapat mengembangkan usaha, meningkatkan pendapatan dan kesejahteraannya. Kegiatan dimulai dengan penyuluhan dan pemaparan manfaat kulit pisang, daun talas dan pengertian pangan fungsional. Selanjutnya cara pembuatan tepung kulit pisang dan daun talas yang aman dikonsumsi, diikuti cara pembuatan biskuit. Dan terakhir memberikan pemaparan cara pengemasan dan management pemasarannya agar produk yang dihasilkan laku di pasaran dan memiliki nilai ekonomi.Kata Kunci: kulit pisang, daun talas, pangan fungsional, biskuitJambuluwuk Village in Ciawi District is mostly inhabited by banana farmers and traders. The residents' gardens are also overgrown with taro plants. Banana peel and taro leaf waste is currently only thrown away or used as animal feed. Banana peels and taro leaves contain compounds that are beneficial to health, such as for the treatment and prevention of hypertension, diabetes mellitus (DM) or as antioxidants. Both of them also have the potential to be processed into functional foods such as biscuits. Biscuits with a sweet, savory and crunchy taste can be consumed by all ages. This activity aims to improve partner skills so that they can develop their business, increase their income and welfare. The activity began with counseling and explaining the benefits of banana peels, taro leaves and the meaning of functional food. Next, how to make banana peel flour and taro leaves which are safe for consumption, followed by how to make biscuits. And finally, it provides an explanation of how to pack and manage its marketing so that the resulting product sells well in the market and has economic value.Keywords: banana peels, taro leaves, functional food, biscuits

Abstract

Shellfish flour has a proximate content including moisture content, ash content, fat content, protein content and calcium levels. Shellfish flour containing rich calcium can be added in the manufacture of food products such as Snack Bar to increase the nutritional value. The research includes making snack bar barbecue with several types of sweeteners such as honey, palm sugar and sorbitol. Based on the results of proximate and minerals test, it was found that snack bar preparations were made with ash content (2.25, 2.04, 1.88), total fat content (20,34,20,75,24,20) and kalisum (823,78; 506,21; 814,06) which is higher than the positive control. lower protein and phosphorus content than positive controls, and total carbohydrates that approach positive controls. Abstract

Kidney stones disease is asignificant health problem in the world and Indonesia is no exception. Traditionally, avocado seeds can be used as a laxative medicine for kidney stones disease. Elixiris a clear and sweet hidroalkohol solution intended for oral use and a flavor is usually added to enhance the taste. This study was to determine theformula of the avocado seed elixir which has the best quality and the level of flavonoids.Elixir testing was performedusing several methods such as organoleptic, limpidity, viscosity, pH and specific weightas well as total flavonoids. The result showed that the best elixir formula was the Formula I which composed of 7%avocado seed extract, 5% ethanol, 10% propylene glycol, 40% sirupus simplex, 0.1%, essence mint and 100%aquadestilata ad. Furthermore, Elixirhad a brown color, mint aroma and pretty sweettaste. The test results showed that elixir had a viscosity of 7.92 cP; pH of 5.65; specific weight of 1.0413 g/mL andtotal flavonoids of 2.1020%.

Abstract

Cinnamon Bark contains flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, and phenols. Phenolic compounds contained in cinnamon is a sinamat acid is effective as anti diabetic. This research aims to determine the formula preparations tablets efervesen extract of cinnamon bark with a certain type of sweetener that favored the panelists and the levels of sinamat acid in efervesen tablets and extracts. The formula is made with different types of sweeteners such as aspartame stevia 1.5%, 3.5% and 1% sukralosa. The results of the analysis showed no difference in sweeteners influence against the parameters of color and scent but the effect on the parameters of taste every formula. Formula tablets efervesen extract of cinnamon bark that is favored by panelists based on based on the parameters of taste is formula 1 with the sweetener aspartame concentration of 1.5% and a formula 3 with sweetener sukralosa concentration 1% preferred formula panelists. The results of the analysis of the levels of sinamat acid in extract of cinnamon bark obtained the level of 471, 13 mg/g as for Formula 1 tablet efervesen acquired the levels of 369.76 mg/gram

Abstract

Abstract:  Kebar grass (Biophytum petersianum) has chemical compounds with estrogenic effects that have the potential to increase fertility for humans and animals. To make it practical to use, kebar grass extract has been made in the form of tablets. The experimental animals used were mice (Mus musculus) divided into 5 treatment groups, consisting of a group that received 0.065 mg/20g BW of Kebar grass extract tablets, 0.13 mg/20g BW K2, and 0.065 mg/20g BW kebar grass extract. dose of 0.065 mg/20g BW. As a negative control using (CMC Na 1%) and positive control (ethinyl estradiol 7.8 × 10⁻⁵ mg/20g BW). Each experimental animal was given 1 ml of the test solution orally on the first day of the mice experiencing the estrus phase. Observations were made every 12 hours for 7 days. The results of the statistical analysis showed a significantly different effect with the negative control p<0.05. Tablet dosage forms and all treatment doses of coriander grass extract were able to shorten the estrus cycle to 79.2 - 84 hours or 3.3 - 3.5 days and prolong the estrus phase to 93.6 - 96 hours. Tablets and extracts can also affect vascularization and increase the weight of the ovaries and uterus. The conclusion is that the dosage forms of tablets and all treatment doses of coriander grass extract have an estrogenic effect.Abstrak: Rumput kebar (Biophytum petersianum) mempunyai kandungan kimia dengan efek estrogenik yang berpotensi untuk meningkatkan kesuburan bagi manusia maupun hewan.. Agar praktis digunakan maka esktrak rumput kebar telah dibuat dalam bentuk sediaan tablet. Hewan coba yang digunakan yaitu Mencit (Mus musculus) sebanyak 25 ekor dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok perlakuan, terdiri dari kelompok yang memperoleh tablet ekstrak rumput kebar K1 dosis 0,065 mg/20g BB, K2  dosis 0,13 mg/20g BB, dan ekstrak rumput kebar dosis 0,065 mg/20g BB. Sebagai Kontrol negatif menggunakan (CMC Na 1%) dan kontrol positif (etinil estradiol 7,8 × 10⁻⁵ mg/20g BB). Setiap hewan coba diberikan 1 ml larutan uji per oral saat hari pertama mencit mengalami fase estrus. Pengamatan dilakukan setiap 12 jam selama 7 hari. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan pengaruh yang berbeda nyata dengan kontrol negatif p<0,05. Bentuk sediaan tablet dan ekstrak rumput kebar seluruh dosis perlakuan mampu memperpendek siklus estrus menjadi 79,2 - 84 jam atau 3,3 – 3,5 hari dan memperlama fase estrus menjadi 93,6 - 96 jam. Tablet dan ekstrak juga dapat mempengaruhi vaskularisasi dan meningkatkan bobot ovarium serta uterus. Kesimpulannya bahwa bentuk sediaan tablet dan ekstrak rumput kebar seluruh dosis perlakuan memiliki efek estrogenik.

Abstract

Cinnamon bark (Cinnamomum burmannii) is used traditionally and has an ingredient containing cinnamic acid compounds. Colocasia esculenta (L) Schott leaves contains of flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, steroids, and terpenoids. Both of the plants C. esculenta and C. burmannii plants have the potential as anti-diabetics because they can lower blood glucose levels. This study aims to make combination tablets of C. burmannii bark and C. esculenta leaves extract with various concentrations of PVP K30 binder. This research made four formulas with the concentration of PVP K30, namely F1 (2%), F2 (3%), F3 (4%), and F4 (5%). Tablet preparations were prepared by the wet granulation method. Tablet analysis used flavonoids quercetin and cinnamic acid as markers. The results showed that the tablets were flat, round in shape, light green, had a slightly bitter taste, and had a distinctive aromatic odor. The differences in the concentration of PVP K30 binder 2-5% could affect the hardness, friability, disintegration time, and tablet dissolution (p<0.05). The tablet's hardness was 3.65-5.01 KP; friability was 0.705%, disintegration time was <15 minutes, and dissolution was 84.61% in 40 minutes. The levels of the flavonoid quercetin in the tablets were 4.21% and 8.03% cinnamic acid. A tablet combination of C. burmannii bark and C. esculenta leaves extract with a PVP K30 concentration of 5% (F4) has the best quality.
