Abstract

Series and sequences one of the most important sub-topics in mathematics since students frequently make mistakes or forget formulae when solving problems, which has an impact on learning results. This study tries to explain how a discovery learning strategy at the vocational high school level improved student learning results in class X. This study is an example of classroom action research. The class X pupils at one of the Cimahi Vocational High Schools served as the study's subjects to determine whether the instructor has a direct impact on the learning process. With the Discovery learning strategy, this project seeks to enhance students mathematics learning results. According to the analysis of learning outcomes and completeness scores, cycle I students mathematics learning outcomes demonstrated a moderate level of material mastery with only 33% of students completing them, whereas cycle II students' mathematics learning outcomes demonstrated a high level of material mastery with 75% of students completing them. The class X SMK's mathematics learning outcomes can be enhanced by the discovery learning technique.

Abstract

Covid-19 is a rapidly growing outbreak around the world, one of the obvious impacts is the education sector. Inadequate education affects the learning outcomes of learners. One of the factors that affect student learning outcomes is the presence of motivation that comes from the student itself. Without the willingness to learn, it can be difficult for students to know what to learn and why they need to learn it. The research used is correlational and ex-post facto research using quantitative approaches that aim to find out whether students' learning outcomes in statistical material have an effect on learning motivation. The subjects used in the study were class IX students consisting of 6 students including 3 women and 3 men. Research instruments conducted using student motivation scale questionnaires and written tests of statistical material. The data analysis technique used in this study is a simple linear regression analysis using an average percentage of motivational indicators and spsss statistic 25 software. The results of the study proved that there was an influence of 62.2% between learning motivation and student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the Techno mathematics Literacy of non-Mathematics Education Teacher Candidate students in the Research Statistics course. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The research subjects were 100 non-Mathematics Education students who taught the Research Statistics Course in the Odd Semester of the 2022/2023 Academic Year. Data on learning activities were obtained from the implementation of learning using observation guidelines and data on learning evaluation were obtained from learning evaluation activities based on tests of students' mathematical literacy abilities in the form of document studies, response questionnaires and interview sheets. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the average ability of Techno Mathematics Literacy in the aspects of data literacy, Sense of errors and sense of numbers, and Creative aspects and ability to draw is included in the poor category, while the ability to use computer software and aspects of communication skills are in the Adequate category. Overall, the average Techno Mathematics Literacy of non-Mathematics Education prospective teacher students at IKIP Siliwangi is in the poor category.

Abstract

To improve student learning results, changes are needed in the learning process in a better path. The purpose of this study was to analyze student learning result about one-variable linear equations with CTL before and after the application of scratch-based media. This type of research is a class action research with 2 cycles in which the subjects are 30 students of class VII in one MTs Kota Cimahi. Data obtained through observation and tests at the end of each cycle. In cycle 1 students carry out teaching and learning activities with Student Worksheets and at the end of cycle 1 a test is carried out to find out student learning result during cycle 1. The data is analyzed and then used as a reference for the implementation of cycle 2 which in practice, students study with Student Worksheets plus the existence of media-based assistance scratch application. After cycle 2 ends, students are given another test with the same indicators as cycle 1. In the test results from cycle 1, out of 30 students, only 3 students get learning outcomes in the high category, while the test results for cycle 2, out of 30 students, only 1 student who get the value of learning outcomes in the high category. The results of this study indicate that the application of contextual learning with the help of scratch-based media applications has not been able to improve mathematics learning outcomes in the material of one-variable linear equations.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe the results of the errors that students experience in the process of solving problems of comparative story problems. The researchers applies a qualitative descriptive methods when conducting his research. The subjects of this study were students of class VII-A of SMP Negeri 8 Cimahi, a total of 24 students. The data collection technique used has three stages: (a) data reduction, (b) data presentation, (c) drawing conclusions and using help tables in order to determine the percentage level of error. The instrument used is in the form of a description of 5 test questions. The results of student work were analyzed based on the Newman procedure. Based on the results of the study, the highest percentage of errors was found in the average process skill error, which was 33.3%, while the lowest error was found in the average percentage of reading errors, which was 5.8%.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how effective the use of contextual approaches is to improve students' critical thinking abilities in the transition period as the study intends to detail and conclude the technology that is currently being used as well as the benefits and limitations it has. The SLR stage is grouping data, analyzing and summarizing the data that has been obtained. To develop students’ critical thinking skills, contextual learning is applied that emphasizes the ability to think at a higher level, linking it to everyday life so that students can transfer that knowledge through scientific disciplines, then collect, analyze, and conclude data obtained from some different information and points of view. The research results obtained are as follows: (1) The use of contextual approaches to learning is very effective in improving students’ critical abilities, (2) characteristics of contextual approaches are very effectively used to improve students’ critical thinking abilities, (3) students are not only fixated on one source but many sources can be obtained by students, thus training students’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The ability to solve problems is an essential skill that students must have in everyday life and as an integral part of the math curriculum. The research aims to achieve and improve the mathematical problem-solving ability of junior high school students through the application of the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Divisions) cooperative learning model. The method used is a quasi-experimental design experiment. The results of the study found that before the implementation of the STAD model, students' mathematical problem-solving skills were still low, as seen from the results of the pre-test. This study concluded that cooperative learning STAD is effective in achieving and improving the mathematical problem-solving ability of junior high school students.

Abstract

This study intends to determine the improvement of mathematical communication skills of grade VII students using a scientific approach. This study uses a quasi-experimental method. The population of this study is grade VII students, while the sample of this study is class VII-A as a control class and class VII-C as an experimental class in one of the junior high schools in Cimahi City. The research instrument used for the KKomM description test was four questions. The collected data was processed with descriptive statistics and IBM SPSS Statistics-25-assisted inferential statistics. This study shows that KKomM students who use a scientific approach are better than students who use ordinary learning.

Abstract

The ability to think critically is currently one of the abilities that students need to have because with the ability to think critically in students can improve the quality of education in Indonesia, with this statement this research was conducted with the aim of describing the critical thinking skills of junior high school students using a problem-based learning model on quadratic equation material. This type of research is in the form of descriptive research with qualitative methods. This research was located at SMPN 3 Cimahi with 9 subjects who had high, medium and low abilities in critical thinking covering 3 classes. The data collection technique was carried out by providing 4 description questions and interviews to the subjects. Data analysis techniques in research refer to qualitative data analysis according to Miles and Huberman. The results of the study were measured based on indicators of critical thinking skills according to Facion (2015) where, 67% of students were able to interpret, 58% of students were able to analyze, 72% of students were able to evaluate, and 69% of students were able to infer so that it could be concluded that there was a significant influence of the problem-based learning model on critical thinking skills.
