Abstract

Quantitative research has been conducted on the effect of rainfall and wind speed on lightning events in Pekanbaru City from August to October 2018. Observation data were obtained from Meteorological Station Class I Sultan Syarif Kasim II Pekanbaru, Riau Province, Indonesia. Observations are made by recording lightning events automatically using a lightning detector which will be analyzed using the Lightning Analysis program version 7.2 and the Google Earth Pro program. The results showed that high rainfall caused frequent thunderstorms, and relatively high wind speeds from late September to October caused the number of lightning strikes to increase due to the ionization process that produces an electric charge.

Abstract

In this study, ImageJ has been used to process fluorescence spectroscopic images of spinach leaf treated with three variations of sunlight. In addition, apples and tomatoes are also used in imaging by treatment immersed in hot water, pierced, and pressed. Leaf and fruits are illuminated by laser diodes and LEDs of different wavelengths. ImageJ is used to calculate the RGB and gray values of the image with two segmentations, namely the intact image and the threshold. The results show that the thresholding method gives the best results because it automatically reduces the image background. In addition, the threshold background can also be easily set in this imaging. For the spinach leaf experiment, LED with a wavelength of 680 nm showed significant differences in each treatment of sunlight intensity. Meanwhile, in the apple and tomato experiment, the diode laser with a wavelength of 405 nm showed significant results. Both types of fruit with this puncture treatment turned out to provide higher intensity than pressed fruit.

Abstract

Research on the model of sound wave propagation in the ocean on the axis of the deep sound channel has been carried out using discrete acoustic ray propagation with varying beam lengths. This study aims to obtain parameter values in the form of maximum angle of incidence and effective beam length to simulate acoustic wave propagation around the axis of the deep sound channel. The research was conducted by simulating the acoustic beam at a depth with the minimum acoustic velocity value by varying the angle of incidence and the length of the applied beam. In this study, constant acoustic velocity gradient and gradient data were used. Calculation of the velocity gradient from discrete data using the Euler-Crommer formula. From this research, it can be seen that at a depth of 854 m the minimum acoustic velocity is 1487.53 m/s. For a constant gradient with a value of 0.054 and variations in beam length from 1 m to 4 m, the maximum angle of incidence is 0.4 radians. Analytically, the radius of curvature of the rays is 28107.12 m. Comparing the analysis and computation results, there is a very small error of 0.02%, so this model can be used to simulate acoustic wave propagation based on real data gradients. The gradient pattern based on real data and variations in beam length from 1 m to 4 m, obtained a maximum angle of incidence of 0.4 radians.

Abstract

Simulation of acoustic wave propagation in the surface layer area is carried out by taking a positive value acoustic velocity gradient so that in this simulation there will be a wave phenomenon trapped in the surface layer area. In this study, acoustic beam emission was conducted by varying the angle of incidence and length of the beam used, and the determination of the acoustic velocity gradient was carried out using the Runge-Kutta order of order 2. The results showed that at depths of 0 to 40 meters with an acoustic velocity of 1405 m/s, for a length of 1 meter and a gradient pattern of +2.5 obtained a minimum angle of incidence of 0.09 radians with a wave propagation of 250 meters. Comparison between analytical and computational results on wave propagation in the surface layer area is a 4.51% error.

Abstract

Simulation of acoustic wave propagation to determine the shadow zone area using computational methods has been carried out using negative value gradients. The study was conducted by varying the angle of incidence and variations in the length of the beam used. This research was conducted by comparing analytical results with computational results. The results of this study indicate that at a depth of 500 meters with a sound speed of 1493.1 m/s, a beam length of 1 meter, and a gradient pattern of -0.1, a maximum angle of 0.255 radians is obtained with the shadow zone area being at a depth of 0 to 800 meters and a distance of 5000 meters of wave source. The value of the difference or error in analytical data and computational data is 0.0817%.

Abstract

The productivity of palm trees grown is generally measured in monthly and yearly periods, but on a shorter time scale, it is particularly measured by the plant maintenance of palm trees. Consideration of the general productivity in time is how to produce good fruit fertilizer (chemical aspect), healthy plants, fast growing and evolving (agricultural aspect), and genetic type of palm that grows (biological aspect). However, the growth and production on the physical aspect is still less attention. Through physical treatment, the growth of palm trees can be optimized to support aspects of the previous aspects, as it has been proven in advanced countries on the plant's aloe vera, avocado, and pine trees. In this paper, the methodology proposes a direct current voltage treatment to the palm tree that can accelerate the flow of ions to grow and develop nutrients. The palm tree samples are aged 1 to 5 years corresponding to the provision of 10, 16, 25, 35, and 50 V for each of the ages of the palm tree respectively. Identifying samples before and after treatment by electricity is based on the geometry of leaves, midribs, and ions effect. There have been reduced and increased levels of nutrients. This identification can optimize the productivity of palm trees.

Abstract

The low antenna performance is a concern for researchers to overcome in modern technology. As an effort to overcome this problem, the application of the metamaterial structure to the antenna was carried out to increase the antenna parameters. This study aims to analyze the effect of antenna performance due to the influence of variations in the combination and radius of the SRR hexagonal metamaterial. The research was conducted in a simulation, starting with designing the antenna structure with the metamaterial of two rings into a resonator with a radius variation of 2.5 mm and 2.7 mm, then combining one to four hexagonal SRRs. The results showed that the highest antenna performance was obtained from a combination of four hexagonal SRRs for a radius of 2.7 mm with parameter values in the form of return loss -38.95 dB, a bandwidth of 7.88 GHz at a working frequency of 1.12 – 9.00 GHz and a gain of 5.92 dBi.

Abstract

The regional development issues in Tambang Kampar District that are most important to solve are environmental issues related to surface water potential and limited clean water. Environmental potential through good environmental management can become potential natural resources that can be utilized to support the regional economic sector. Groundwater potential needs to be studied and interpreted in the matrix of groundwater resource management through geophysical studies, namely by using the geoelectric method. This matrix will be able to provide solutions to environmental problems with the potential for fresh water in Tambang District, Kampar, thereby supporting economic growth in terms of meeting water needs. The material that is the object of research is underground water, and the aspects of research that will be studied include clean water exploration and environmentally friendly management patterns of potential underground water resources. The research location is Tambang District, Kampar, Riau Province. The targeted finding is an environmental management model of potential underground water resources in Tambang Kampar District using the Schlumberger rule geoelectrical method. Fundamental contributions to a field of science are geophysics and environmental science disciplines related to groundwater availability.

Abstract

Metamaterials possess distinct characteristics that make them very suitable for scientific investigation. This phenomenon's hallmark has left scientists perplexed and skeptical. Researchers have conducted numerous studies to explore the composition of one or more metamaterials. This project focused on the development of a linear-sequence metamaterial. Next, we examined the alterations in the optical characteristics of the metamaterial. The utilized frequency range is 0 to 9 GHz. We construct the hexagonal split ring resonance (SRR) metamaterial with a radius of 2.9 mm, consisting of one to four hexagonal SRRs. The findings revealed that the SRR hexagonal metamaterial structure had the highest negative refractive index value, reaching -9.33 in combinations of four hexagonal SRRs.

Abstract

The development of antenna technology is increasingly developing in medical sensor applications. The medical sensor antenna can be strengthened with a split ring resonator (SRR) metamaterial structure. Metamaterial is an artificial material that has high resonance manufacturing properties and this can potentially be implemented into microstrip antenna structures. This research aims to design, simulate and analyze the characteristics of metamaterials regarding the frequency function and performance of an antenna combination of 1 – 4 metamaterials with a triangular SRR ring radius of 3.5 mm. The results of this research show that the metamaterial characteristics of permittivity, permeability and refractive index are negative. Furthermore, in the antenna application, the implementation of a 4 SRR triangular metamaterial combination structure has more optimal performance. The results show that antenna performance parameters produce return loss is -41.18 dB, the bandwidth is 3.86 GHz and gain is 3.82 dBi with an omnidirectional radiation pattern.
