Abstract

Tilapia culture is highly affected by fish diseases, which may be occured because of change in environment. This study was aimed to know potential pathogenic bacteria in nila fish (Oreochromis niloticus). Screening and isolation of the bacteria were done in Balai Karantina Ikan, Pengendalian Mutu dan Keamanan Hasil Perikanan Kelas I Medan I. Identification of the bacteria was conducted using Vitek 2 Compact in RS Murni Teguh. Five potential pathogenic bacteria were found to infect nila fish i.e. Kocuria kristinae and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia of brain, Aeromonas hydrophila of liver, Staphylococcus lentus of kidney and Staphylococcus warneri of skin sample. Water temperature was 32 oC with pH of 6,9 and DO of 2,96 mg/lKeywords : Patumbak, Potential Pathogenic Bacteria, Tilapia, Water Quality.

Abstract

Utilization of Mangrove Ecosystem as land conversion resulting decline in the productivity of the mangrove ecosystem. The transition function of the mangrove ecosystem damage and disrupt the microbial life in it. One of which is a Mudskipper. The research aims to determine how the population density of Mudskipper and how the relationship of mangrove density to the population density of Mudskipper. The research was conducted for two months from March to April 2016 at the mangrove ecosystem in the Sembilan Island village. The research used purposive random sampling method. There are three kind of fish can be found in those areas, which are Periophthalmus chrysospilos, Periophthalmus gracilis, and Boleophthalmus boddarti. The results of this research is the highest population density of Mudskipper are found at station III with a value of 7400 Ind/ha and lowest were in station IV with a value of 2600 Ind/ha. The highest density of mangrove are found at station 4 with a value of 4800 Ind/ha and lowest were in station III with a value of 4066 Ind/ha and categorized good. Relationship between the mangrove density and the population density of Mudskipper exhibits a positive correlation with a value of 0,941.Key Words : Identification, Mangrove, Mudskipper, Population Density.

Abstract

Mangrove forests existed in Village Belawan Sicanang have been many experienced land conversion as embankment and settlements. These conditions led to degradation in habitat quality. The research aimed to know mangrove species composition and to know mangrove community structure. The research took place in May  June 2016. The method used in the determination of the location is purposive sampling and divided into 3 stations based on different activities. Analysis of mangrove vegetation derived mangrove density, relative density, mangrove frequency, relative frequency, dominance, relative dominance, importance value index, diversity index, and evenness index. The results showed that the composition of mangrove species found eleven species of true mangroves that are Avicennia alba, Avicennia marina, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Bruguiera hainessii, Ceriops tagal, Nypa fruticans, Sonneratia alba, Sonneratia caseolaris, Xylocarpus granatum, Rhizophora apiculata dan Rhizophora mucronata. The mangrove forest located in Village Belawan Sicanang is classified on very tight criteria where mangrove density ≥ 1500 ind/ha, the relative dominance ≥ 75%, and the mangrove community were in stable condition. Keywords : Mangrove, Species Composition, Community Structure

Abstract

Mangrove forest is a plant species whose life is still affected by sea tides. Mangrove forest is also a habitat of aquatic biota. In Kampung Nipah the utilization of Mangrove Forest is utilized as marine tourism. Utilization of mangrove forest that is not environmentally friendly is feared will threaten the preservation of mangrove forest ecosystem. The purpose of this research is to know the composition of mangrove species and mangrove vegetation structure which is currently viewed from Index of Density, Domination, Frequency, Importance Value Index, Diversity Index, and Mangrove Sharpness Index and Mangrove environmental condition in Kampung Nipah at Sei Nagalawan Village. This research was conducted for two months from December 2016 until January 2017. The method used to determine the location of sampling using Purposive Sampling at 3 stations. The structure of mangrove vegetation in stations I and II has a very dense density, density at station III is rarely. Keywords: Community Structure, Mangrove Density, Mangrove Utilization, Serdang Bedagai

Abstract

Mackerel Fish (Rastrelliger spp.) is one type of economic fish in important for the community, this type is found in the waters of the Strait of Malacca. This study has objectives on accesing growth and exploitation rates of Mackerel Fish in Malacca Strait, North Sumatera Province. This study was held in three months, from March to May 2017. Data analysis used the ELEFAN I method (Electronic Lenght Frequencys Assesment Tool) by using FiSAT II (FAO-ICLARM Fish Stock Assesment Tool) software. The samples of Mackerel Fish obtained as much 361 tail. The growth pattern of Mackerel Fish is negative allometric. The range of condition factor are 0,602 – 1,294. The range of length frequency distribution are 175 – 182 mm. Based on the growth equation of Von Bertalanffy Mackerel Fish obtained in the waters of the Straits of Malacca is Lt = 217,35{1-e-0,75(t+0,015)} which means the asymptothed length (L∞) of Mackerel Fish 217,35 growth coefficient (K) of 0,75 per year and the theoretical age (t0) Mackerel Fish that is equal to -0,015. Total mortality (Z) of Mackerel Fish of 2,837 per year.Estimation of natural mortality rate (M) of Mackerel Fish of 0,891 per year and mortality due to catch (F) of 1,946 per year. So that the result of alleged exploitation rate of 0,68 per year. Keywords: Growth, Mortality, Exploitation Rates, Rastrelliger spp, Malacca Strait

Abstract

Dumbo catfish (Clarias gariepinus) is usually cultured with high density in pond. This fish is tolerant to low oxygen level and grow rapidly. However, in culture, this fish is often attached by some parasites. The purpose of this study is to find out what kinds of ectoparasites infect Dumbo catfish and to know dominant ectoparasitic infecting Dumbo catfish. This study was conducted from May until June 2017. This research was conducted with three repeated with the comparison of two ponds, then each pond is taken fish samples three pond fish samples were taken from two ponds with three reflication. Total sample were 18 fish. The result showed that Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, Trichodina, Chilodonella, Dactylogyrus, were dominant ectoparasites in the fish and water. Keywords : Catfish, Ectoparasitic.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the catch of Tor fish (Tor spp.) and Tor trower habitat condition (Tor spp.) in Upstream Wampu Basin of Langkat Regency of North Sumatera. Sampling was conducted for three months, from July to September 2017. Fish was caught with backpack electrofishing units. Water quality measurement was done in situ. The catch in the Berkail River was higher than the catch in the Bahorok River, because the Berkail River has more dense vegetation than the Bahorok River. Overall, the water condition in Upper DAS Wampu is still above the standard quality water quality threshold. Keywords: Catch, Water Condition, Tor Fish (Tor spp.)
