Abstract

Introduction: Stunting remains a significant nutritional issue characterized by chronic malnutrition, negatively impacting children's growth, development, and productivity throughout their lives. Proper nutrition, particularly during the first 1,000 days of life, is essential to prevent stunting. The lack of protein intake, especially from animal sources, is a major contributing factor to stunting in Indonesia. Objective: The purpose of this public service was to increase the knowledge of mothers with toddlers and health cadres regarding the importance of animal protein intake as part of the "Isi Piringku" campaign to prevent stunting in Sindangrasa Village, Ciamis Regency. Method: This public service was conducted in three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The preparation stage involved coordination with local authorities for permission and logistical arrangements. The implementation stage included pre-test knowledge assessments, an educational session using slide presentations and leaflets, and interactive discussions. The evaluation stage involved post-test assessments to measure knowledge improvement. Result: The service was attended by 30 participants, consisting of health cadres and mothers with toddlers. Pre-test results showed that 50% of participants had moderate knowledge, while 30% had low knowledge about the role of animal protein in preventing stunting. After the educational session, the percentage of participants with good knowledge increased to 53.33%, while those with moderate knowledge decreased to 46.67%. Conclusion: The findings suggest that education using slide presentations and leaflets is effective in increasing knowledge about stunting prevention through balanced nutrition. Raising awareness among mothers and health cadres is crucial in promoting behavior changes that support adequate animal protein intake to prevent stunting.

Abstract

Introduction: Gout pain is a common issue among the elderly, caused by the accumulation of uric acid crystals in the joints, leading to discomfort and limited mobility. Clove (Syzygium aromaticum), known for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, has been studied as a potential natural treatment for alleviating gout pain. Objective: This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of clove (Syzygium aromaticum) decoction in reducing gout pain among the elderly. Method: A systematic review search was conducted across four journal databases: PubMed, ProQuest, Garuda, and JSTOR, covering the period from 2019 to 2024. The population involved in the studies consisted of elderly individuals diagnosed with gout. The intervention analyzed in this review was the administration of clove decoction, while pain as the primary outcome was measured using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). The uric acid levels, as a secondary outcome, were assessed using a GCU meter. Two to three independent reviewers conducted the search, selection, extraction, and quality assessment of the identified articles. The selection process followed the PRISMA flowchart standards, while the quality of the articles was evaluated using the CASP checklist. The extracted data included key aspects such as author, intervention, facilitators, setting, number of sessions, duration, methods or media used, as well as the topics discussed in each study. Result: Of the five articles identified, a total of 95 participants were involved. The administration of clove decoction significantly reduced pain intensity due to its higher eugenol content, which was given orally (consumed) and via warm compress. The intervention was administered for 5-7 days, while the warm compress was applied for 15-20 minutes. The duration of this intervention allowed sufficient time for the eugenol content in cloves to act as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic, resulting in a more optimal therapeutic effect. Conclusion: The administration of clove decoction is a non-pharmacological therapy that demonstrates a significant impact in reducing gout pain. It may serve as a supportive alternative in pain management, reducing the use of analgesics, and improving the quality of life with minimal side effects.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria is an acute infection also known as tuberculosis disease. This disease will have a bad impact if not treated properly. Knowledge and attitude can affect adherence to the healing process, the patient's indiscipline can be caused by the lack of public knowledge and awareness about medication adherence is very important. To find out whether there is a relationship between knowledge and attitude and medication adherence in tuberculosis patients in the work area of UPTD Ciamis Health Center.   Method: This type of study uses observational analytics with  a cross sectional  research design. The population in this study is 30 people, and the sampling technique in this study uses Total Sampling because the number of samples is the same as the population and the number of population is less than 100. Result: The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between knowledge and medication adherence to outcomes (p=0.003<α=0.005) and a relationship between attitude and medication adherence to medication and outcomes (p=0.011<α=0.005). Conclusion: In this study, almost all of the respondents had good knowledge, good attitude and good medication adherence,  and there is a relationship between knowledge and attitude and adherence to taking medicine.

Abstract

Introduction: Adolescence is a transitional period from childhood to adulthood, characterized by physical, psychological, emotional, and social acceleration. It requires a healthy younger generation that develops optimally toward adulthood. Health issues related to adolescents include reproductive health, unwanted pregnancies, abortion, drug abuse, and promiscuous behavior. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are types of infectious diseases that are generally transmitted through sexual activity. In Indonesia, the prevalence of STIs is quite high, including HIV-AIDS at 0.3% and syphilis at 1.2%. The greatest risks come from sexual behaviors such as changing partners and not using condoms.Lack of knowledge or low levels of knowledge about STIs is one of the factors that significantly influences the high incidence rate among adolescents. Objective: Providing early education on sexually transmitted infections (STIs) to adolescents at SMPN 4 Ciamis through community service activities. Methods: The methods used in this activity were lectures and discussions supported by Infocus media, laptops, and slide presentations. Results: The evaluation results showed that 90% of the students' answers in the question and answer session were correct, while the remaining 10% were less accurate. The change in behavior from not knowing to knowing is a measure of success in educational or outreach activities. Conclusion: Community service activities was carried out smoothly and it was found that most of the students at SMPN 4 Ciamis were able to understand about STIs. The role of teachers and parents is very important in supervising children's activities and activities both at school and at home.:
