Abstract

Many parents and teachers do not realize the negative effect of formal teaching of educators fro children. This is a dilemmatic problem which is difficult to solve. This research aims at to describe reading and writing initiation in playgroup and kindergarten. The subjects of the research are 171 people, 87 people are from DIY and the rest, 84, are from Central Java. Data are taken using observation, interview, questionnaire, and documentation. Further techniques employed are note and record, and orthographic transcription. Data are analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. Validity is kept by employing (1) method of double data gathering, (2) long observation, and (3) discussion among the researchers. The research result shows that (1) the initiation process of reading and writing can be divided into 4; forming and pronouncing the alphabets, inscribing phonemic awareness, applying directly to form of word, and applying directly to the spelling of the syllabi, word, and phrase. (2) Forms of receptive initiation of written language are through alphabet memorizing, identifying form of alphabets, story reading, spelling practice, instruction of reading books, and displaying media. Forms of productive initiation of written language are through various ways of letter to letter initiation, initiation of syllabi and word, and children’s involvement. Abstract

Penelitian  ini  bertujuan  (1)  mengembangkan  alat  ukur kesantuanan bahasa Indonesia dalam tuturan formal bersemuka; (2) melakukan uji lapangan terbatas terhadap alat ukur kesantunan bahasa Indonesia dalam interaksi sosial formal bersemuka; (3) mengembangkan alat ukur kesantunan dalam bentuk VCD interaktif dengan program komputer. Adapun manfaat yang dapat dipetik adalah (1) acuan untuk mengukur kesopanan dalam bertindak tutur formal bersemuka, (2) gambaran alat ukur   kesantunan   formal   bersemuka   (3)   acuan   mengukur   derajat kesantunan atau kesopanan pada pengguna bahasa Indonesia dalam berbagai kelas sosial. Penelitian ini didasarkan pada empat alasan. Pertama, kesantunan berbahasa merupakan unsur penting dalam membina karakter positif masyarakat tutur Indonesia. Kedua, selalu ada potensi negatif dalam komunikasi lintas  kultur dan lintas  sosial karena belum ada  alat ukur kesantunan   dalam   bahasa   Indonesia.   Ketiga,   prinsip   kesantunan berbahasa yang ada masih mengacu Barat yang belum tentu sesuai dengan kultur Indonesia. Keempat, alat ukur kesantunan dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai media pembina kesantunan berbahasa dalam berbagai ranah dan satuan pendidikan. Sebagai  pendekatannya,  digunakan  pendekatan  riset  dan pengembangannya atau Research and Development (R D). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan selama tiga tahun. Pada penelitian tahun pertama telah dihasilkan indikator-indikator kesantunan berbahasa Indonesia. Pada penelitian  tahun  kedua  dilakukan  pengembangan  alat  ukur  kesantunan yang didasarkan pada indikator keuniversalan konsep kesantunan masyarakat  penutur  bahasa  Indonesia  dalam  situasi  formal  bersemuka yang ditemukan di tahun pertama. Pada akhirnya, pada penelitian tahun ketiga ini dihasilkan alat ukur kesantunan berbahasa Indonesia dalam bentuk VCD interaktif dengan program computer. Pada penelitian tahun ketiga ini, yang telah dicapai adalah menghasilkan dan menggandakan produk alat ukur dalam bentuk VCD interaktif serta melakukan sosialisasi alat ukur melalui pelatihan terhadap guru, dosen, mahasiswa, dan instansi-instansi lain calon pengguna alat ukur ini

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) describe the literacy components based on the PIRLS version,  (2) identify the constructs of reading literacy competence for Grade IV of the elementaryschool, and (3) make a draft of the constructs of literacy competence for Grade IV of theelementary school in the Indonesian version. The data were collected through literaturereview, interviews, and focus group discussion. They were analyzed by the qualitativedescriptive technique. The results are as follows. First, the literacy components basedon the PIRLS version comprise: the reading literacy concept, assessment framework,benchmark, literary text components, and assessment system determination. Second, thereading literacy competence is constructed as the competence to read and comprehendliterary and informative texts, based on four cognitive levels, from a variety of text typesin line with the social context around the students and the national context. Third, theconstructs of literacy competence in the Indonesian version consist of: 2-5 difficult words,a text length of 200 words, the composition of low to high cognitive levels of 30-30-3010,textthemessuitabletoIndonesianconditionandculture,cleartextillustrations,andtables/graphspresentedingradation.Theresultsareimportantasliteracyinformationforthe basis for developingeducational policies in Indonesia.

Abstract

Sejarah memiliki bahan dasar cerita. Cerita sejarah merupakan cerita faktual yang bernilai kebenaran tinggi. Sejarah yang disajikan dalam bentuk cerita memiliki efektivitas yang sulit ditandingi oleh metode lain. Bercerita sejarah memerlukan strategi. Strategi dilakukan dalam tiga tahap, yakni tahap persiapan, penyajian, dan evaluasi. Pengemasan sejarah dalam bentuk cerita dapat menjadi alternatif pembelajaran karena sejarah memiliki materi beragam yang mampu menyedot perhatian anak didik. Cerita sejarah juga mampu merangsang minat baca peserta didik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media game digital edukatif yang efektif untuk pembelajaran menulis laporan perjalanan siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian R D melalui tahapan analisis kebutuhan, pembuatan desain game, validasi produk, dan uji coba lapangan. Media game digital edukatif yang dikembangkan ini layak digunakan untuk pembelajaran menulis laporan perjalanan siswa SMP berdasarkan hasil validasi produk oleh ahli materi dengan hasil rata-rata yaitu 4,67 termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik, sedangkan validasi ahli media dengan hasil rata-rata 4,21 termasuk dalam kategori baik. Berdasarkan uji keefektifan menggunakan uji-t pada saat uji coba lapangan menunjukkan bahwa nilai t hitung (4,543) t tabel (30;0,05) adalah (1,697). Oleh karena itu, media game digital edukatif yang telah dikembangkan efektif digunakan untuk pembelajaran menulis laporan perjalanan siswa SMP. Kata kunci: pengembangan media, game digital edukatif, menulis laporan perjalanan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi, mengidentifikasi, dan merumuskan  jumlah kata dan frekuensi penggunaan jenis kata pada buku siswa jenjang PAUD. Penelitian dilakukan pada tahun 2021 dengan menggunakan desain penelitian deskriptif-kuantitatif dan menggunakan alat bantu korpus linguistik Antconc. Data diambil dari 34 judul buku elektronik cerita anak jenjang PAUD terbitan Badan Bahasa tahun 2019.  Pada aspek perjenjangan, buku elektronik yang dilabeli PAUD ternyata hanya ada sebesar 20,58%, sedangkan sejumlah 79,42% buku lainnya lebih tinggi jenjangnya bagi peruntukan buku PAUD, yaitu bagi sekolah dasar kelas 1 hingga kelas 3. Dalam aspek jenis kata, pada buku elektronik jenjang PAUD ditemukan jenis kata yang paling dominan, yaitu nomina (35,2%), verba (21,2%), adverbia (11,2%), ajektiva (6,48%), preposisi (4,84%), konjungsi (4,38%), pronomina (4,35%), sedangkan jenis kata lainnya (demonstrativa , interjeksi, kategori fatis, interogativa, numeralia, artikula) ditemukan dalam rentangan (2,56% - 0,72%). Kesimpulan: a) jika memungkinkan, hasil penelitian dapat digunakan untuk perbaikan panduan perjenjangan buku yang sudah ada; b) ihwal perjenjangan buku sebagai panduan perlu dimantapkan dengan ujicoba beberapa panduan, apakah merujuk panduan Puskurbuk Kemendikbud, Fountas Pinnele, Lexile, atau lainnya; c) Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi pembuka bagi penelitian buku berjenjang untuk implementasi Gerakan Literasi Sekolah pada tingkat Pendidikan PAUD, dasar, dan menengah.Kata Kunci: perjenjangan buku, PAUD, materi baca pengayaan, gerakan literasi sekolahAbstractThis study aims to explore, identify, and formulate the number of words and the frequency of use of word types in early childhood education (PAUD) students' books. The research was conducted in 2021 using a descriptive-quantitative research design and using the Antconc linguistic corpus as a tool. The data is taken from 34 titles of electronic books for PAUD level children's stories published by the Language Agency in 2019. In the aspect of grading, there are only 20.58% of electronic books labeled PAUD, while 79.42% of other books have a higher level for PAUD book allocation, namely for elementary school grades 1 to grade 3. In terms of word types, in PAUD level electronic books found the most dominant types of words, namely nouns (35.2%), verbs (21.2%), adverbs (11.2 %), adjectives (6.48%), prepositions (4.84%), conjunctions (4.38%), pronouns (4.35%), while other types of words (demonstrative, interjection, phatic category, interrogative, numeral) , articular) were found in the range (2.56% - 0.72%). Conclusions: a) if possible, research results can be used to improve existing book tiering guidelines; b) the issue of the hierarchy of books as a guide needs to be strengthened by testing several guidelines, whether referring to the Puskurbuk guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Fountas Pinnele, Lexile, or others; c) This research is expected to be an opening for tiered book research for the implementation of the School Literacy Movement at the PAUD, primary, and secondary education levels.Keywords: book leveling, PAUD (early childhood education program), enrichment reading materials, school literacy movement

Abstract

A dissertation represents a key academic work produced by doctoral students as a requirement for graduation and the attainment of a doctoral degree. Consequently, doctoral candidates are expected to demonstrate strong and precise dissertation writing skills. This study aims to (1) analyze the rhetorical structures employed in each section of dissertations authored by doctoral students in the Doctoral Program in Language Education, and (2) compare these rhetorical structures with established academic writing conventions. The research utilizes a mixed-methods approach, adopting the textual organization framework of the Academic Phrasebank by Morley (2014) as the primary guide, supplemented by Santos' (1996) framework for abstract structure. Data collection includes both qualitative and quantitative components. The data analysis is conducted using AntConc 4.0.11, developed by Laurence Anthony from Waseda University, with an emphasis on calculating the frequency of words, phrases, collocations, concordances, and specific expressions within the dissertations. The findings reveal distinctive rhetorical patterns in the abstract, introduction, literature review, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion sections of the dissertations produced by doctoral students within the field of Language Education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the types of violations of politeness maxims and the factors influencing these violations in the movie Mencuri Raden Saleh. Using a qualitative approach, data collection techniques involved listening and noting, while data analysis employed the pragmatic pairing method refined with theoretical triangulation for validation. The research findings reveal: (1) 19 instances of violations of politeness maxims; (2) 15 instances of violations of the cooperation principle; and (3) internal and external factors influencing these violations. The study demonstrates that politeness violations play a critical role in supporting character development, building conflict, and creating tension in the storyline. Additionally, such violations are often strategically employed to achieve specific communication goals, both directly and indirectly. These findings offer valuable insights into the use of language in popular media as a reflection of social interaction and the nuanced dynamics of politeness in communication. Furthermore, this research contributes significantly to socio-pragmatic studies by highlighting the interplay between language use and cultural norms in media narratives, providing a foundation for future studies on the implications of politeness in language, cultural representation, and media discourse.
