Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused losses to the tourism sector and surrounding communities, including communities around the Situ Gunung natural tourism area. Adaptation and mitigation are needed to reduce the deterioration felt by the community. This research aims to analyze adaptation strategies and strategies for people in the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic. The method used is a household survey with an interview based on the method of determining samples with Isaac and Michael tables at a 10% error rate using descriptive analysis. The results showed that the quality of community adaptation is still low, adaptation strategies are carried out by people with vulnerable economic conditions based on the characteristics of their work. Tourist workers and non-tourists have different adaptation strategies but have similar mitigation strategies. Mitigation strategies are already owned by the community but are still in the initiative at the household level. In general, mitigation is planned with asset and financial management, resource allocation, finding primary and side job alternatives, and strengthening social relationships. The role of various parties, especially destination managers, is needed to strengthen adaptation and mitigation of communities at the village level to achieve resilience in the future.

Abstract

Understanding tourist motivation, perception, and preferences is critical for designing effective tourism strategies in national parks. This study examines the relationship between ecological factors and the motivations, perceptions, and preferences of domestic tourists visiting national parks in Java and Sulawesi, Indonesia. Data were collected from 358 respondents via an online survey over four months and analyzed using chi-square and General Linear Model tests to assess socio-demographic differences. The main motivation for visiting national parks in Java was "attractive natural panoramas", while in Sulawesi, it was the "diversity of fauna". Tourists in Java exhibited stronger cognitive perceptions due to informative signage, whereas Sulawesi visitors appreciated the "natural appearance of facilities". Affective perceptions were consistent across both islands, driven by enjoyment, while conative perceptions were linked to intentions to revisit for wildlife observation. Activity preferences varied, with Java tourists favoring natural panoramas and Sulawesi visitors prioritizing wildlife observation. The length of visit was the only socio-demographic variable significantly related to motivations, perceptions, and preferences. These findings highlight the varying ecological priorities of tourists in Java and Sulawesi, with implications for targeted management and conservation strategies in national parks.

Abstract

Jembar Wangi Village, located in Tomo District, Sumedang Regency, West Java, holds significant potential as a center for gedong gincu mango production. However, a large volume of rejected mangoes that do not meet market standards leads to environmental problems due to fruit spoilage. This study aims to identify solutions for processing rejected mangoes through community empowerment based on micro-enterprises. The methods employed include community service by university students (KKN) and training programs funded by the 2024 DRTPM PKM Grant and the 2025 Competitive Grant from Sangga Buana University. The training covered mango chip production, packaging, business administration, and marketing. The results indicate an increase in production capacity through the provision of equipment such as vacuum fryers, slicing machines, and storage facilities. Furthermore, active participation of local women’s groups in the production process increased significantly. The discussion focuses on community empowerment—particularly among women farmers—and the challenges in marketing, which still rely on conventional methods. Product development strategies involving digital marketing (e-commerce and village websites) and trademark registration show potential to expand market reach and strengthen local product identity. This program has had a positive impact on women's economic empowerment and has contributed to sustainable community welfare. The findings can serve as a replicable model for local economic empowerment in other.

Abstract

Abstract

The goals of interpretation activities can be achieved if interpretation service planning is carried out correctly. The planning process could succeed if the planner has adequate knowledge and understanding of interpretation services. Knowledge and understanding are crucial to determining what to do. This research aims to measure the knowledge and understanding of tourism managers and organizers, as well as their interpretations of important aspects of interpretation, including interpretation resources, visitors' characteristics, and interpretation techniques. The research method used is qualitative. Data were collected through structured interviews with 15 informants (managers and organizers of interpretation activities). The interviews reveal that the managers and implementers of tourism activities and/or interpretations already possess a good knowledge and understanding of the interpretation resources available in the area, particularly regarding their tangible and intangible values. However, they still need to understand the universal concept of these resources. Additionally, all informants still need to gain more knowledge and understanding of the characteristics and backgrounds of visitors, as well as interpretation techniques. Only 80% of informants were aware of interpretation pathways, and 60% were aware of interpretation programs. This limited knowledge and understanding are assumed to be one of the inhibiting factors in the formulation of a good interpretation service. Ultimately, it becomes an inhibiting factor in creating public awareness regarding preserving natural resources. This research highlights the need to enhance the knowledge and understanding of interpretation stakeholders regarding the key aspects required for planning interpretation services through training, workshops, or formal education.

Abstract

Maintaining vegetation can contribute to environmental impacts by producing exhaust gases and chemical residues. Therefore, to control it, it is necessary to trace impacts using the life cycle assessment approach. The aim of this research is to inventory inputs and outputs, calculate the magnitude of the impacts caused, and formulate recommendations scenarios for controlling environmental impacts from maintaining vegetation in City Park 1 BSD. Vegetation maintenance stages are identified based on the type of input and amount of output which is calculated using the basic formula: Emissions = activity data x emission factor. Vegetation maintenance has inputs in the form of petrol, diesel, electrical energy, manure, pearl fertilizer, curacron, furadan, dry leaves, and felled trees, while the output produced is CO2, N2O, CH4, SO2, NO2, NO3, NH3, and PO43-. Acidification emissions resulting have the highest value with hotspots in the form of electricity use and watering tankers. Impact control that can be done is reducing the use of watering tankers, reducing the use of blower machines, and composting dry leaves resulting from sweeping. The life cycle assessment approach can be used as a learning resource to strengthen environmental science education

Abstract

The role of stakeholders is a crucial factor in tourism development. Tourism development cannot be carried out solely by area managers but requires support and contributions from various stakeholders. This study aims to analyze stakeholder involvement in managing Mangrove Sari Ecotourism. This study involved interviews, field observations, and literature reviews, and a qualitative analysis approach was applied. The researchers conducted a stakeholder analysis to identify, classify, and map the roles of each party. The analysis identified eight stakeholders involved in managing Mangrove Sari Ecotourism. The stakeholder in the key player (strong influence and high importance) is Mangrove Sari Tourism Awareness Group. The stakeholders in context setters (strong interest but low influence) are Kaliwlingi Village Government, Mangrove Sari Coastal Forest Conservation Community Group, and Brebes Regency Culture and Tourism Office. The stakeholder in the subject (strong influence but low interest) is the Youth Group Kaliwlingi Village. The stakeholders in Crowds (low interest and low influence) are Forestry Service Branch Region V, Brebes Regency Marine and Fisheries Service, and Kaliwlingi Sea Guardian Community Group. Stakeholder relations remain suboptimal due to role limitations and potential conflicts, which hinder effective coordination and affect the management of Mangrove Sari ecotourism.
