Abstract

The Begalan tradition is a distinctive ceremonial practice in traditional Banyumasan weddings, particularly preserved in Sidareja District, Cilacap Regency. More than a ritual, Begalan conveys philosophical, moral, and religious values transmitted across generations. This study aims to examine the symbolic meanings and social functions of the tradition using a qualitative ethnographic approach, supported by philosophical analysis and the Islamic legal concept of ‘urf. Data were collected through direct observation of begalan ceremonies, in-depth interviews with cultural figures, and a review of relevant literature. The findings reveal that each item used in the ritual, such as the kukusan (steamer), muthu (pestle), and kendil (clay pot), embodies symbolic messages promoting responsibility, patience, and harmony within marriage. The tradition also serves as a medium for moral education and cultural communication to the wider community. From the perspective of ‘urf, begalan is recognized as a local custom that aligns with Islamic principles. Rather than contradicting religious norms, it reinforces Islamic values through culturally rooted expressions. The tradition demonstrates the adaptive capacity of local culture in responding to social change while maintaining its essential meaning. Accordingly, Begalan is not merely a cultural relic, but a living epistemological system and a collective identity that continues to thrive within Banyumasan society

Abstract

The  substance  of  issue  in  this  study  is  “how  many (degrees)  the  minimum  standardized  angle  still  be  considered feasible  and  how  the  application”  which  is  raised  in  the  title “The Minimum Standardized Angle  of the Kiblah Direction of Mosques in  Gorontalo  City”, with the aims on trying to find the minimum standardize referred to and to be used as guidelines by the  community  (Jama’ah)  whether  or  not  to  make  row adjustments  in  the  mosques  that  experienced  irregularities  of kiblah direction. Based on early studies showed that mostly the mosques of Gorontalo  city deviate from 1 to 15 degrees from the true  direction  of  Kiblah.  With  the  approach  of  science  and technology especially in the field of astronomy (falak), then what is desired by the provisions of Islamic law ( syar’i) above can be well  realized.  Deviations  of  Kiblah  direction  of  mosques  in Gorontalo  City today still can be find the solution to make rows improvements  /  adjustments  in  the  mosques  to  the  true direction of Kiblah or at least meet the minimum standardized angle which can be considered feasible in terms of the direction of kiblah in  the mosques has not been out of boundary areas of the city of Mecca.

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of meaning in the Bugis society’s mappasikarawa culture, which has undergone significant shifts in values due to modernity. It employs a dialectical approach between the Qur’an and local cultural context as al-urf to map the dynamic relationship between universal Islamic values and local wisdom. Using a qualitative analytical-critical method, data was gathered through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis in Bugis regions. Findings show that mappasikarawa serves not only as a symbolic ritual but also integrates Qur’anic values sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah. Thus, a contextual reinterpretation based on maqaṣid al-shariah and hifz al-nafs is essential to maintain its relevance and harmony with Islamic law.

Abstract

Indonesia termasuk dalam krisis wabah covid -19 yang mengakibatkan sekolah ditutup yang mengharuskan semua instansi memikirkan masa depan peserta didik dengan melakukan pembelajaran daring. Sehingganya dibutuhkan pengendalian yaitu controlling terhadap penggunaan media dalam situasi pembelajaran daring. Pembelajaran daring merupakan situasi belajar mengajar yang dilakukan tanpa tatap muka secara fisik namun dilakukan secara virtual dengan menggunakan media melalui aplikasi Whatshap. Sedangkan yang dimaksud dengan pengendalian atau controlling dalam penelitian ini adalah upaya yang dilakukan kepala sekolah untuk mengawasi keefektifan dalam penggunaan media pembelajaran.Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pengumpulan data melalui observasi, dokumentasi dan wawancara. Adapun yang menjadi lokasi penelitian ini adalah SDIT Permata umat yang berada di kecamatan tibawa. Hasil penelitian terkait dengan pengendalian pendidikan yakni controlling yang dilakukan kepala sekolah terhadap media pembelajaran melalui whatshap yakni kepala sekolah memiliki hak penuh terhadap pengendalian pendidikan yakni controlling yang dilakukan terhadap pendidik dan peserta didik dalam pembelajaran daring menggunakan media pembelajaran melalui aplikasi Whatshap. Karena media merupakan hal terpenting dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

Religion and culture are two inseparable things. Grounded religious values require traditions and culture that develop in society. This article aims to analyze the religious and cultural understanding of multiculturalism in the people of Manado City. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with data sources coming from the literature and interviews. The data were analyzed using the maqâshid al-syarî`ah approach. The results of the study show that the city of Manado as an area with a multicultural population strongly adheres to the religious understanding that every religion in principle loves, respects, and respects each other. The philosophy of sitou timou tumou tou, torang samua basudara, mapalus, democracy, anti-discrimination and friendship are believed and guided in carrying out all social activities in Manado society. If viewed from the perspective of maqâshid al-syarî`ah, then it is included in the category of maslahat al-‘ummah. Agama dan budaya adalah dua hal yang tidak terpisahkan. Nilai-nilai agama yang membumi membutuhkan tradisi dan budaya yang berkembang di masyarakat. Artikel ini bertujuan menganalisis paham keagamaan dan budaya multikulturalis pada masyarakat Kota Manado. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan sumber data berasal dari kepustakaan dan hasil wawancara. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan pendekatan maqashid al-syariah. Hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa Kota Manado sebagai daerah yang berpenduduk multikulturalis sangat berpegang pada pemahaman keagamaan bahwa setiap agama pada prinsipnya saling menyayangi, saling menghormati dan saling menghargai. Falsafah sitou timou tumou tou, torang samua basudara, mapalus, demokrasi, antidiskriminasi dan silaturrahim diyakini dan dipedomani dalam melakukan segala aktifitas sosial dalam masyarakat Manado. Jika ditinjau dari perspektif maqâshid al-syarî`ah, maka masuk dalam kategori maslahat al-‘ummah.

Abstract

This bibliometric analysis examines research trends in flipped learning within English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms from 2020 to 2023. Analyzing 930 publications sourced from Google Scholar, the study highlights the steady growth in scholarly interest, peaking in 2022. The findings emphasize the effectiveness of flipped learning in enhancing language skills, student engagement, and learning outcomes, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Highly cited studies underscore the significant impact of this instructional approach. The analysis also explores diverse strategies, models, and technological integrations that contribute to the adaptability of flipped learning in various educational contexts. Despite a slight decline in publications in 2023, flipped learning remains a promising pedagogical method in EFL/ESL education, warranting further exploration and innovation.

Abstract

Background: The primary language aspect is vocabulary. It must be mastered before mastering English skills. Vocabulary is the basement component of language proficiency and provides much of the basis for how well learners speak, listen, read, and write. Purpose: This study reported comprehensive findings and interpretations that will provide a deep understanding of why non-English department students learn vocabulary using realia and why they learn the way they do. Method: This research is classroom action research that generally aims to improve students' communicative competence in English Results and Discussion: The results showed that by using realia teaching materials, lecturers could motivate students in communicative competence, and it can be seen in the results of research that have increased significantly. This can be proven by the increasing ability of students to describe things and communicate well and smoothly during the teaching and learning process. Students quickly draw what is happening around them because they are obtained or events that occur in their area. Conclusions and Implications: By using realia teaching materials, lecturers can motivate students in communicative competence, which can be seen from the research results that have experienced a significant increase. This can be evidenced by the increasing ability of students to describe things and communicate well and smoothly during the teaching and learning process. The implication of this research is to motivate students to communicate, and it must start with what exists and happens in the environment where they live so that they can easily find difficult words. Abstract

The portfolio-based assessment model is an approach in assessing students’ performance. And the development students’ affective domain is the process of collecting data and information by using instrument about attitudes, values, personality, and students’ morals both in learning and outside learning. The objective of this research is to identify and analyze The portfolio-based assessment model in developing students’ affective domain, as well as to be a reference for the next research. The method used in this research was a qualitative method with a naturalistic and psychological approach. The results of this research indicated that the The portfolio-based assessment model has its own assessment adventages from other assessments, but in general The portfolio-based assessment applied at the Hubulo Islamic Boarding Schoolnhas not been able to improve the development of student’ affective domain. This happens because The portfolio-based assessment model at the Hubulo Islamic Boarding School was very rigid and inflexible, while the time for developing students’ affective domain was very low so that the goals of developing students’ affective domain were not maximally achieved. The difference between this research and the previous one was the research location and the object under studied.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the contextualization of rights and justice through exceptions in the counterclaim of marital property lawsuits in the Religious Court of Pinrang. The research method used is normative-legal qualitative research, with a document study to analyze Decision Number 703/Pdt.G/2021/PA Prg. Data analysis is conducted using legal enforcement theory and rights and justice theory. The research results indicate that maximizing exceptions in marital property lawsuits in the Religious Court of Pinrang ensures the protection of rights and justice for all parties involved in society. The context of responses, replies, and rejoinders during the examination of marital property cases is essential to respond to the claims and clarify disputes in society to safeguard the rights and justice of both the plaintiff and defendant. Exceptions in legal enforcement during the examination of cases allow the plaintiff and defendant to assess the validity of claims in the conventional lawsuit, while exceptions in the counterclaim provide an opportunity for the defendant to protect their rights and justice during the proceedings of marital property cases.

Abstract

Government Regulation Number 45 of 1990 concerning Marriage and Divorce Permits for Civil Servants in article 3 stipulated that all civil servants intending to divorce had to have prior permission from their superiors or a letter of recommendation from a relevant official. This administrative requirement was mandatory, allowing the judge to consider and decide on divorce cases involving civil servants. This research employed field research with an empirical juridical approach, which was conducted directly to understand the real issues and was then linked to applicable laws, the legal certainty theory, and the maslahah theory (maintaining the objectives of shari'a and achieving benefits/avoiding harms). The research findings concluded that: 1) the divorce requirements in the maslahah theory aimed to reduce the divorce rate among civil servants. Superiors or authorized officials had the right to guide employees to try to preserve their marriages; 2) the Parepare Religious Court granted six months to obtain permission from superiors. If, by the specified deadline, the individual did not have this permission and still wished to divorce, they were required to submit a statement willing to bear the consequences of divorce without the superior's permission. The related consequences were outlined in Government Regulation Number 94 of 2021 on Civil Servant Discipline; 3) there was a connection between the judge's consideration and the maslahah theory. In addition to considering the applicable laws, the judge also took into account aspects of maslahah when making decisions. The maslahah obtained from a formal divorce in the Religious Court included legal certainty and justice in the judge's divorce decree.
