Abstract

Journalists are expected to be responsible for fulfilling the public interest in information as well as the demands of media companies. Excessive jobs could have positive and negative impacts on journalists, affecting the increase and decrease of journalists' performance. The job demands can demonstrate the performance or achievements of journalists; the higher the journalists can manage their time well; the journalist performance will increase. This study aims to confirm the sub-dimensional pictures of the variables of job demands and performance of journalists and whether job demands significantly affect the performance of journalists. The method used in this research is quantitative with descriptive analysis and verification. Analytical techniques are used to validate tests, reliability, normality, autocorrelation, and heterodedensity. The hypotheses test uses a simple regression linear test, signification partial (t statistical test), and determination. As a result, the researchers concluded: 1) The work demands of the Pikiran Rakyat Newspaper Journalists did not stress the journalists, and the workload and the work environment were considered good. The demands of work also do not affect the performance of journalists, so the quality of writing, quantity, timeliness, effectiveness, and independence are classified as good. 2) There is a significant positive effect of about 50.7% between the influence of Job Demands on the Performance of Journalists in the Pikiran Rakyat Newspaper. This means that the demands of work do not affect nor make the performance of journalists decrease. However, intrinsic and extrinsic factors can affect the decline of journalists' performance.

Abstract

This research departs from the problem of the rise of online media that disseminates information using fairly short captions through social media. The number of new media that have emerged also affects the flow of information that is increasingly swift to the public. This study was conducted to determine the level of public trust in news from non-mainstream media USSFeeds on Instagram by containing four dimensions of trust, namely (1) based on selectivity of news topics, (2) based on selectivity of news facts, (3) the level of public trust in accurate depiction, and (4) the level of public trust in journalistic judgment. This research approach uses descriptive quantitative research methods. The results obtained from this study found that in terms of selectivity of news topics, audiences rely on the "ussfeeds" account to get information about lifestyle. In terms of selectivity of facts received by audiences, the results showed that the majority of respondents agreed that the "ussfeeds" account always provides all the latest information based on facts. In terms of accurate portrayal of news, the results showed that most respondents did not agree if the "ussfeeds" information had an accurate portrayal in the dissemination of information. Finally, in terms of journalistic assessment, the results show that most respondents have a high level of trust because the information provided by Instagram "ussfeeds" can be easily captured by its audience. Therefore, it can be concluded that audiences have a high level of trust in lifestyle news from the social media Instagram "ussfeeds".

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Jurnalisme data mulai berkembang pesat secara global dan mulai mengisi ruang redaksi di berbagai media. Seiring dengan meningkatnya praktik jurnalisme data di industri, beberapa perguruan tinggi di berbagai belahan dunia pun telah mulai mengadopsi kurikulum jurnalisme data untuk diterapkan dalam kelas. Pada awal perkembangannya di Indonesia, beberapa perguruan tinggi swasta sudah mulai bergerak dan mencoba beradaptasi dengan mengembangkan jurnalisme data ke dalam kurikulumnya, yang mana Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) merupakan pionirnya. Tujuan: Pergerakan perguruan tinggi di Indonesia dalam mengenalkan jurnalisme data perlu untuk dianalisis lebih jauh sebagai upaya untuk mengetahui sejauh mana perkembangan pendidikan jurnalisme data di Indonesia. Di samping itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran tentang pendidikan jurnalisme data di Indonesia, melihat belum adanya penelitian tentang hal tersebut yang dilakukan di Indonesia maupun negara berkembang lainnya. Metode: Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode wawancara terhadap pembentuk kurikulum dan tenaga pendidik jurnalisme data di UMN, serta studi dokumen. Hasil: Hasilnya, kurikulum jurnalisme data di UMN didesain dengan menggunakan pendekatan software-dependent dengan meliputi keempat aspek yang ada dalam tipologi oleh (Lewis, 2021), yakni data analysis, data acquisition and cleaning, pattern detection, dan data representation. Pada penerapannya, metode pembelajaran yang digunakan adalah kolaboratif dan berbasis pengalaman sebagai model strategi untuk siswa menghadapi transformasi dan kompleksitas yang ada dalam jurnalisme data.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Akurasi merupakan inti dari kegiatan jurnalistik yang menjadi standar penting untuk menentukan kualitas pemberitaan. Di masa pandemi Covid-19, banyak bentuk-bentuk intervensi, salah satunya adalah vaksinasi. Media online mempunyai peranan besar dalam memberikan informasi kesehatan pada publik mengenai keuntungan dan resiko dalam vaksinasi. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan akurasi pemberitaan vaksin Covid-19 di media online liputan6.com. Metode: Penelitian ini mengaplikasikan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pendekatan analisis isi. Objek penelitian terdiri dari  67 sampel berita vaksin Covid-19 pada periode 6 Desember 2020 hingga 13 Januari 2021, yang diukur menggunakan pedoman empat kategori hasil kombinasi dan reduksi operasionalisasi variable dari Mitchell V. Charnley dan Christiany Juditha, yaitu kesesuaian sumber berita, tipograsi, kesesuaian foto dengan isi berita, serta kesesuaian judul, ejaan, tata bahasa, dan arti pada isi berita. Hasil: Penelitian memperlihatkan tingkat akurasi pemberitaan vaksin Covid-19 di liputan6.com masuk dalam kategori yang sangat akurat dengan presentase 99,01%. Kategori yang mengalami ketidakakuratan terdapat pada kategori kesesuaian judul, ejaan, tata bahasa, dan arti pada isi berita, serta tipografi pada bagian nama. Sedangkan kedua kategori memiliki kuantitas kesalahan yang terbesar yaitu ejaan, terindikasi pada lima berita (7,5%), tata bahasa pada tiga berita (4,5%) dan judul, arti dan tipografi nama terindikasi pada satu berita pada masing-masing indikator yaitu (1,5%).

Abstract

Forest and land fires are a major problem that recurs annually in Riau Province. Various efforts have been made to prevent the recurrence of this disaster. One of the efforts is to build and develop a Task Force of Forest and Land Fire management to be capable of providing a quick and coordinated response. This research aims to analyze the organizational development of the Riau forest and The tast force of Forest and Land Fire based on the mechanism of its formation and also the four information flow models. This research used a qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with stakeholders, field observations and document analysis. Based on the four information flows model, the relationship between the members of the task force and the task force of forest and land fire management was found to be less strong than their relationship with their main agency. Each member of the task force team interacted more within the organization in which they served. The working relationship between the Riau Province forest and the force of forest and land fire team is based on the structure set by the governor, with the main tasks and functions of each section outlined in the governor's regulation. Interaction between task force members is stronger at the leadership level, where they often coordinate to prepare and plan for forest and land fire control, while at the site level, in the integrated patrol team group, they carry out forest and land fire prevention and control activities together. In the forest and land fire control ecosystem, the task force is part of the global forest and land fire control ecosystem. It is expected that the results of this study can provide input for stakeholders in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Forest Land Task Force in efforts to control forest and land fires in Riau Province.

Abstract

Background: Batik, as an Indonesian art form, has not only evolved but also adapted to present needs while maintaning its cultural roots. Moreover, the current surge in batik sales brings both benefits and challenges for artisans. Purpose: The study examines public relations strategies aimed at enhancing Batik’s image, promoting cultural heritage, and supporting the local economy. Methods: This study employed the social constructivism approach to gain insight into the cultural heritage of Trusmi Batik. The research methodology encompassed the use of observation, interviews, and documentation as techniques to thoroughly comprehend the subject matter. Results: Trusmi Village, renowned for its distinctive batik art, has transformed into a popular shopping center and tourist hotspot. The batik industry seeks to boost household income and capitalize on its proximity to transportation routes. This expansion has not only generated new employment opportunities but has also inspired ventures beyond the field. Additionally, government support and the role of social media in corporate communications have played crucial roles in contributing to the success of Trusmi. Conclusion: The batik industry in Trusmi has brought about a transformation in the region, providing job opportunities and fostering economic prosperity for entrepreneurs and the overall economy. Government investments in branding and the role of social media have played significant roles in contributing to its growth. Additionally, community efforts have resulted in economic benefits, population growth, and advantages in terms of tourism. Implications: The growth of the Trusmi Batik industry holds significant implications, highlighting the significance of promoting cultural heritage and storytelling. Furthermore, it contributes to economic progress, social cohesion, and community ties. Government assistance is paramount in ensuring the enduring sustainability and expansion of the sector.

Abstract

Penyakit gagal ginjal kronik di dunia saat ini mengalami peningkatan dan menjadi masalahkesehatan serius. Pengalaman pasien gagal ginjal kronik setelah menjalani terapi hemodialisis atauCAPD sangat bermanfaat bagi masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk:(1) Mengetahuikomunikasi dan pengalaman pasien gagal ginjal kronik setelah mereka divonis sebagai penderitagagal ginjal kronik.; (2) Mengetahui kondisi kesehatan pasien gagal ginjal kronik setelah merekadivonis sebagai penderita gagal ginjal kronik. Metode penelitian dengan menggunakan penelitiankaulitatif pendekatan fenomenologi. Berdasarkan penelitian diperoleh bahwa pengalaman pasiengagal ginjal kronik antara lain terapi rutin yang harus dilakukan adalah hemodialisis atau CAPD ,aktivitas sehari-hari yang bisa dilakukan terbatas, pola makan dibatasi, pengaruh penyakit padaprofesi pekerjaan menghambat, keterbukaan penyakit pada lingkungan sekitar tertutup. Sedangkankondisi kesehatan pasien gagal ginjal kronik mengalami penurunan yang drastis dibandingkandengan ketika masih sehat. Pasien gagal ginjal kronik dengan terapi CAPD memiliki kondisikesehatan yang lebih baik jika dibandingkan dengan pasien terapi hemodialisis.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Media massa memiliki fungsi sebagai penyedia informasi bagi publik, baik pembaca, pendengar, maupun pemirsa. Dalam konteks kebakaran hutan dan lahan (Karhutla), peran media massa dalam menginformasikan dan mengedukasi masyarakat melalui pemberitaan menjadi sangat krusial. Hal ini dikarenakan media dapat berfungsi sebagai sumber informasi utama terkait peristiwa dan perkembangan karhutla, secara psikologis membangkitkan rasa kemanusiaan publik, dan bahkan menjadi mediator dalam penyaluran bantuan bencana. Kendati demikian, kompleksitas isu karhutla seringkali menghadirkan tantangan tersendiri bagi media massa. Tujuan: enelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat tingkat objektivitas pemberitaan kebakaran hutan dan lahan di Kalimantan pada media betahita.id dan kanalkalimantan.com. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif dengan metode analisis isi. Objek penelitian terdiri dari 39 sampel berita mengenai kebakaran hutan dan lahan di Kalimantan periode Juni – Oktober 2023, yang diukur menggunakan konsep Objektivitas Westerståhl yang terdiri dari aspek kebenaran, relevansi, keberimbangan, serta netralitas. Hasil: Penelitian menunjukkan tingkat objektivitas media betahita.id dan kanalkalimantan.com masuk ke dalam kategori tinggi dengan nilai masing-masing media sebesar 63,3% untuk betahita.id dan 70,8% untuk kanalkalimantan.com. Dalam menerapkan objektivitas, kedua media memenuhi aspek kebenaran, relevansi dan netralitas dengan baik. Sementara pada aspek keberimbangan, kedua media sama-sama belum memenuhi aspek tersebut dikarenakan pemberitaan yang dipublikasikan cenderung menampilkan satu sisi dan satu sudut pandang saja.

Abstract

National media typically adopt disaster journalism when reporting on disasters. However, local media increasingly highlight these issues due to their high news value in terms of proximity. Advances in technology and societal changes have made people more selective about the information they consume, particularly on social media, including disaster-related news that impacts many lives. This study aims to describe the selective exposure behavior of high school students in Sumedang Regency toward news about the Sumedang earthquake on Instagram @Inimahsumedang, focusing on social aspects such as emotional support, informational support, and social norms. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed, utilizing descriptive statistical analysis, including median, mode, minimum, and maximum values. Additionally, the study examines differences in news selection behavior between male and female high school students in Sumedang Regency using an independent T-test (two-tailed). The findings reveal that social aspects influence individuals' selective exposure to news about the Sumedang earthquake on Instagram @Inimahsumedang. However, the T-test suggesting no significant differences in news selection behavior between male and female students regarding the social aspects of the issue.

Abstract

Background: The portrayal of women in media often perpetuates gender disparities, limiting their participation and the impact of their issues. This study addresses the gap in understanding how journalism practices, particularly in India, navigate these challenges, using the web series Scoop as a lens to explore feminist realities within the media industry. Purpose: This study aims to dive into how the Scoop series displays women and feminist ideas through the lens of the feminist theories of Laura Mulvey. Methods: This study employs a qualitative discourse analysis approach and looks closely at the narrative, character development, and cinematic écriture of the series. Results: It reveals that the series has a different point of view from traditional stereotypes; Jagruthi Pathak, as the female lead, is portrayed as a versatile and strong character facing challenges in a male-dominated journalism world. It also exposes how journalism commonly feminizes labor, emphasizing the mix of gender, power, and professionalism. Conclusion: This study concludes by noting that Scoop has pushed feminist stories in Indian media, providing us with a leveled look at females in journalism while handling deep-rooted gender biases. This study also accentuates how essential comprehensive storytelling is for promoting gender equality and its challenge in patriarchal norms. It also makes room for more diversification and allows media representation. Implications: This research advocates for more women to participate in media production and storytelling, stressing needing narratives that shake up societal norms and inspire real change.
