Abstract

Inclusive education in Indonesia continues to face significant challenges, particularly concerning infrastructure and human resources. A key obstacle is the lack of teacher competence in understanding the needs of students with special educational needs (SENs) and developing individualized education programs (IEPs). This deficit hinders the effective implementation of inclusive education in regular schools. The purpose of this community service was to enhance the knowledge and skills of teachers through a psychoeducation and IEP development training program at SDN 04 IX Korong, Solok City. The program consisted of two main activities: first, psychoeducation sessions on the characteristics, identification, and intervention strategies for students with special educational needs; and second, hands-on training to enable teachers to develop appropriate IEPs. The program's effectiveness was evaluated using the Kirkpatrick model, focusing on the reaction and learning levels. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in teacher competence. Post-test scores showed a 90% increase in participants' understanding and ability to identify and intervene with students with SENs. A paired-sample t-test confirmed a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (p < 0.005), indicating that the training successfully equipped teachers to manage diverse student needs and foster a more inclusive learning environment. The findings underscore the importance of continuous professional development for teachers to support higher-quality inclusive education at the elementary level, especially in schools lacking dedicated staff for students with special needs.

Abstract

Abstract

High school graduates in Indonesia's coastal areas, including Agam Regency, face high unemployment rates due to limited access to career information and curriculum gaps. This community service program aims to strengthen the capacity of teachers at SMAN 1 Tanjung Mutiara in providing career guidance through digital module-based training using a Training of Trainers (ToT) approach. Twenty-two teachers participated in the training, which was evaluated using the Kirkpatrick model at the reaction and learning levels. The results indicated high participant satisfaction regarding the training materials and facilities. Furthermore, 81% of participants showed an increase in knowledge, supported by the Wilcoxon signed-rank test results showing a significant statistical increase (p < .001). The success of this program proves that digital module-based teacher training is effective in enhancing students' career readiness and expanding access to higher education in coastal regions.

Abstract

The Baduy community, residing in the Kanekes mountainous region, is known for its strong adherence to customary traditions and resistance to modernization. However, technological developments have prompted some members, particularly those from the Outer Baduy group, to adopt the internet and utilize social media for marketing their woven products. This study examines social media not only as a marketing tool but also as a psychosocial construct that reflects changes in how the Baduy people interact and build trust within digital networks. The research aims to explore the use of social media and its related constructs in the marketing practices of Baduy tenun sellers in Kaduketug Village, Banten. The study focuses on three constructs: rating and review, recommendation and referral, and forum and community. A case study approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews. The unit of analysis comprised 19 tenun sellers who use social media, of whom four were selected for intensive interviews. The findings reveal that WhatsApp and Facebook are the most frequently used platforms, followed by Instagram. The most dominant constructs applied were review and recommendation. Keywords: Marketing Strategy, Psychosocial Construct, Social Commerce, Social Media, Tenun Baduy

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on educational systems worldwide, leading to widespread school closures and disruptions to early childhood education. This situation has affected the readiness of young children to progress to higher levels of education (elementary school). This study aims to examine differences in school readiness between kindergarten student groups before and during the pandemic. A comparative study design was used, assessing 36 kindergarten students, with 10 students from each group, using the Nijmeegse Schoolbekwaamheids Test (NST). The NST consists of 10 subtests measuring various aspects of school readiness, including cognitive, social-emotional, and physical developmental skills. Statistical analyses were conducted to compare school readiness profiles between the two groups. The results showed no statistically significant differences between the pre-pandemic and post-pandemic groups in terms of overall school readiness. However, univariate analysis indicated significant differences in Subtest 3 (understanding of size, quantity, and comparison) and Subtest 4 (accuracy and detail in visual perception), where the pre-pandemic group performed better than the post-pandemic group. The effect sizes for these subtests were considerable, indicating meaningful practical differences in these two abilities. These findings highlight the impact of educational disruptions on certain aspects of school readiness and underscore the need for targeted interventions to mitigate the negative effects of the pandemic on early childhood education, especially regarding quantitative reasoning and visual perception skills.

Abstract

This quasi-qualitative study explored the concerns, barriers, and impacts of implementing Inclusive Education (IE) in elementary schools in Sumatra and Java, Indonesia. Despite the Indonesian government's mandate to implement IE through Ministry of Education Act No. 70 of 2009, various challenges hinder its effective implementation. A survey and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 25 elementary school teachers to gain insight into their experiences and perceptions of IE. The findings suggest that teachers often lack confidence in employing inclusive strategies because of limited knowledge and large class sizes, highlighting the need for ongoing professional development. Additionally, while there is evidence of positive attitudes towards special educational needs (SEN) students among peers and parents, teachers may not fully embrace IE. This study aims to provide a thorough assessment of IE strategies employed in Indonesian elementary schools by analyzing key factors and offering recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of IE for both students and teachers. These findings will inform policymakers, educators, and stakeholders about the current state of IE and the necessary steps to improve it, ultimately contributing to the development of a more inclusive and equitable education system in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of adversity quotient on work readiness among recent graduates of Padang State University. The background of this study is the high unemployment rate among college graduates, which is caused not only by limited job opportunities but also by low levels of psychological readiness and individual skills. The research method used was quantitative with a cross-sectional design, with a sample of 391 fresh graduates selected using purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted using a Likert scale, then analyzed using simple linear regression. The results of the study indicate that the majority of respondents had an adversity quotient (82.4%) and work readiness (88.2%) in the high category, and that the adversity quotient had a positive and significant effect on work readiness, meaning that individuals with good resilience and the ability to cope with difficulties tend to have higher work readiness.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the variations in expressions of love across individuals, influenced by culture, environment, and upbringing. In Minangkabau society, which adheres to a matrilineal kinship system, differing social roles and values between men and women may influence love styles. The objective of this research is to examine gender-based differences in love styles among Minangkabau emerging adults in Padang City. A comparative quantitative approach was employed with a sample of 400 Minangkabau emerging adults (200 males and 200 females), selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a love styles scale based on John Lee’s (1973) theory, with a reliability coefficient of 0.924. The questionnaire was distributed online, and data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test due to non-normal distribution. The results reveal significant gender differences in the love styles of eros, ludus, storge, pragma, and agape, while no significant difference was found for mania. The study concludes that gender influences variations in love styles among Minangkabau emerging adults, reflecting a cultural construction in which women are ascribed more dominant interpersonal roles. The findings contribute to cross-cultural psychology literature on love and provide a foundation for developing culturally and gender-sensitive psychological interventions.

Abstract

Slow learning is a condition in which students have a below-average learning rate, necessitating a specialized approach to the learning process. This study aims to review various learning interventions used to enhance the academic abilities of students with learning difficulties. The method used was a systematic literature review of 12 relevant articles to explore how various forms of learning interventions enhance the academic abilities of slow learners. The study results indicate that the most effective interventions include mentoring with a special guidance teacher, constructivist learning models, practice methods, repeated reading techniques and cloze procedures, and token economy strategies. These interventions can significantly enhance numeracy skills, early literacy, learning motivation, and social interaction in slow learners. However, several studies also highlight the lack of teacher training and the use of individualized education programs as ongoing challenges. The success of interventions depends heavily on the involvement of teachers, parents, and a supportive school environment. Therefore, integrated and adaptive learning strategies are essential to optimally support the development of slow learners' academic abilities.
