Abstract

Administratively, the research area is included in Ponjong Subdistrict, Gunung Kidul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. Geographically, it’s located in 07°56’30" - 08°1’0" East Longitude and 110°42’30" - 110°46’0" South Latitude. Several subsidences were occurred in Ponjong, Gunung Kidul in 2018. This study is aimed to determine the subsurface stratigraphy and analyze the depth of rocks layer which has the potential of subsidence (sinkhole) based on the value of rocks resistivity in Ponjong area. Resistivity was measured by geoelectrical method by appllying Schlumberger configuration. As a result, the study areas indicates that the most potential area having sinkhole are composed of lithology of carbonate rocks from Wonosari Formation (crystaline limestone and chalky limestone). Those are in the Asem Lulang village in showed small value of rock resistivity, about 0.1 to <1 (Ωm) at the depth of 15 to 63 meter and more than 123 meter. If it comparated to the village of Sawahombo and Kenteng village, the result showed that relative potential area of subsidence (sinkhole) only at shallow depth and nearly to the surface which is only 10 to 15 meter from surface. Keywords: geoelectric, ponjong, Schlumberger, Sinkhole, Wonosari

Abstract

The research area is located at Ngalang river, Gedangsari sub-district, Gunungkidul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The research area is part of southern mountain area which is composed of lithology of Sambipitu calcareous sandstone. The depositional process phase in the Sambipitu formation has a unique pattern and is relevant to the previous lithology. As a result, the stratigraphic position and lithological repetition pattern were reviewed using the statistical method (Markov chain). The aim of this research is to use geostatistics to examine the sedimentation trend in order to predict the existence of rock facies in the Sambipitu Formation. In each unit of lithology cycle, geostatistics is expected to assist, to predict and to interpret the significance of subsequent lithology appearances. The research method used was measured stratigraphy, determination of rock age and depositional environment based on fossil identification. In addition, this research used probability matrix in Markov chain analysis. The results of the Markov chain analysis showed that lithology of rock in the upper Sambipitu formation had a non-random transition pattern. The results of statistical calculation showed that the calculation value was greater than the Chi-square table value (333.9>34.38) that the H0 component was rejected. Lithofacies and depositional environment are correlated to several geological aspects such as distribution of rock facies, source of rock, paleobtahymetri, trace fossils and sedimentation process.

Abstract

This research focuses on the distribution of andesite and breccia rocks in East Java, Indonesia, specifically in Morang Village, Madiun Regency, through geoelectric resistivity measurements. This study aims to enhance geoelectric interpretation from 2D to 3D, providing high accuracy in target positioning for potential building material resources. By employing a dipole-dipole configuration with electrode spacing, the resistivity values of subsurface rocks were analyzed to classify the types and distributions of building materials, such as andesite and breccia. Data was collected through field measurements and geological surveys, followed by inverse modeling using the least squares method. The results reveal that andesite, with resistivity values above 1000 Ωm, is distributed predominantly in the southeast-northwest trend at a depth of 10–15 meters, while breccia, with resistivity values between 600–900 Ωm, is found at various depths closer to the surface. The geological interpretation suggests that the southeast-northwest orientation may correlate with an ancient basin structure, which directed lava flow during past volcanic activities, forming these rock layers. This study contributes valuable information for local infrastructure planning by providing data on accessible rock resources essential for construction. The application of the 3D geoelectric model offers an effective tool for environmental assessment and mineral exploration, promoting sustainable resource management.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Geoelectrical investigations were conducted as part of community service activities in Towangsan Village, Gantiwarno District, Klaten Regency, Central Java Province. The geoelectrical analysis was carried out in cooperation with LPPMI ITNY's Real Work Lecture program, which will be held in July and August 2024. The Towangsan regional government fully supported this geoelectrical inquiry because there are few water sources in the area for building a swimming pool and park. Children's Play has been successfully realized. The purpose of this service activity is to build a picture of the subsurface so that the depth and distribution of groundwater may be determined and used as a reference when determining drilling well locations. This community service activity lasted four weeks, beginning with preparation, followed by a preliminary survey, field activities, and studio analysis. The geoelectric investigation indicated shallow groundwater at depths of 8 to 15 meters and deep groundwater at depths of 32 to 52 meters in the lithology of Mount Merapi sand deposits. The outcomes of these recommendations were then presented to the local authority at the Towangsan Village Hall for further action.

Abstract

So far, stratigraphic measurements on the Nanggulan Formation in the Nanggulan area have been limited to the Kalisonggo River location. There are also sedimentary rock outcrops with relatively steep slopes in the Kamal River. This location has been used as a study area to obtain a sized stratigraphic picture so that it can be studied as a basis for determining facies and environmental studies. deposition. The purpose of this research is to obtain measured stratigraphic data (measurement section) and aims to obtain relative ages and depositional environments. Administratively, the research area was carried out on the Kamal River, Pendoworejo Village, Girimulyo District, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region Province. Based on the research results, five (5) units in the stratigraphic data were measured using a sampling research method based on Jacob Stick stratigraphic measurements, including sandstone units, marl units, black mudstone units, siltstone units, and old andesite formation breccia units, prepared by reacting the samples using H2O2 solution, sample observation using a microscope, and determination based on data obtained using existing classifications. Based on plangtonic foraminifera analysis, the research location is aged N9-N11 (Middle Miocene). The depositional environment in the research area uses benthonic foraminifera identification which is then correlated to obtain a Middle Neritic depositional environment.

Abstract

The study area is located on the flank of Mount Merbabu and south of the Soropati Band. Mount Soropati is thought to be active in the Quaternary, and was formed at the same time as two other nearby volcanoes, Old Merbabu and Ungaran. This study aims to identify basalt lavas on Mount Soropati that spread to the medial facies. The research method used is field observation supported by DEM map analysis and petrographic analysis. On the appearance of the DEM map, Mount Soropati has a morphology that shows the formation of a caldera and a visible depth that is likely the center of volcanic activity on Mount Soropati in the past. Mount Soropati is a Bregada volcano that gathers one Khuluk, Khuluk Telomoyo and one gumuk, Gumuk Gedong. Mount Soropati is composed of basalt lava flows and has historical records of activities that show that Mount Soropati is a polygenetic volcano. Mount Soropati has an effusive type, which is reflected in the Ca-rich plagioclase content, and an explosive type, which can be seen from the former caldera. In volcanic development, Mount Soropati is in the advanced erosional phase. The presence of basalt lava along ± 2.4 km and a considerable distance from the eruption center may indicate a medial facies.
