Abstract

Indonesian students' science literacy level, especially in understanding solar energy as a renewable resource, still needs to be higher. This deficiency can be caused by various factors, including the need for more utilization of educational materials that aim to improve students' science literacy. The main objective of this study was to enhance students' solar energy literacy skills by applying solar power plant learning materials. Purposive sampling was used to select participants from two groups of students: Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) and Faculty of Engineering (FT) who have completed physics of motion or introductory physics courses. FETT respondents numbered 33 people, consisting of 13 people from the Physics Education Study Program, 6 from the Chemistry Education Study Program, and 14 from the Biology Education Study Program. At the same time, The FT respondents were 23 students, consisting of 9 people from the Electrical Engineering Study Program and 14 from the Mechanical Engineering Study Program. Thus, the total number of respondents who met the criteria of this study amounted to 56 students. The assessment of solar energy literacy includes multiple-choice tests for cognitive aspects and questionnaires for affective and behavioral factors, which are managed through Google Forms. The provision of solar power plant learning modules increases knowledge, with the percentage of correct answers increasing in FKIP and FT students from pre-test to post-test. In conclusion, applying solar power plant learning materials can improve students' solar energy literacy skills.

Abstract

Abstract

Bone cancer that has metastasized can be detected through a bone fingerprint examination, which involves the injection of tc-99m with the pharmaceutical Methylene Diphosphate (MDP). Bone prints are often used to trigger possible metastases of cancer to the bone, which is a major health problem for women worldwide. This study aims to activate the described organ uptake and residual radiopharmaceuticals in bone prints using the Region of Interest (ROI) method. The research was conducted on five datasets of patients with breast cancer. The patient received an intravenous injection of tc-99m MDP and, three hours later, underwent a bone fingerprint examination with a gamma camera. The image results from the gamma camera were processed using the ROI technique and analyzed further using statistical methods. The research findings showed that the five patients experienced an average reduction in residual radiopharmaceuticals of 2.965945119 mCi. Several factors, such as examination time, radiopharmaceutical dose, and body metabolism, influence the decay of radioactive activity in the body. The calculation of the absorption percentage for the five patients showed variations between 0.190070697% and 0.3510157519%

Abstract

Treatment Planning System (TPS) is a computerized radiation therapy treatment plan using special software with the aim of maximizing the dose to the target (cancer) and minimizing the dose to the surrounding normal tissue. One way to minimize radiation dose to healthy tissue is to create a homogeneous distribution of radiation dose in areas with uneven surfaces such as the neck by utilizing a wedge filter. Researchers compared the results of TPS with varying wedge angles ranging from 15o, 30o, 45o, and 60o and assessed the effectiveness against cancer based on the isodose curve, in cases of laryngeal cancer. From the results of this comparison, the use of a 15o wedge is considered less effective because the radiation dose distribution does not cover the entire larynx. The use of a 30o wedge is considered effective because the maximum radiation dose distribution covers the entire larynx. The use of a 45o wedge is considered ineffective because the maximum radiation dose distribution is found in almost all organs in the neck. The use of a 60o wedge is considered ineffective because the dose distribution in the neck has a radiation dose of above 110% or even 125%. From the results of the comparison of wedge angle variations, an angle of 30o is considered the most effective so that it can be used for implementing the Treatment Planning System in the field.
