Abstract

ABSTRACT Obesity is a multifactorial disease, caused by excessive accumulation of fat tissue, which can damage the health. Many factors can influence the occurrence of obesity, including age, sex, diet and physical activity. Diet is the way or the behavior of a person or group of people in choosing, using food ingredients in food consumption on a daily basis based on the type of food, amount of food and frequency of consumption. The aim of this study is to describe the characteristics of respondents by sex nutritional status, energy intake and macro-nutrients (carbohydrates, protein, fat) and physical activity in adolescents in SMAN 5 Pekanbaru. This research is an analytical study with cross sectional study design. The population studied were students of class X and XI SMAN 5 Pekanbaru obese with a sample size of 40 people and non-obese with a sample size of 40 people. This research instrument uses a measuring tape as a measuring tool and questionnaire. Results of the analysis of the number of respondents 80 people, consists of 30 men and 50 women. Based on the results obtained in the energy intake of 20 people declared quite tends risky adolescent obesity, based on macro nutrients mostly shows the macro nutrient intake (carbohydrate, protein, fat) fairly and in others a high intake of protein intake showed that in 20 (95.2 %) adolescents were high protein intake. Compared to non-obese adolescents showed 40 people had less energy intake. Abstract

The Incidence of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Indonesia tends to increase inlast 10 years. This has become a more serious problem especially since diabetesis often undiagnosed due to severe complications occur on long period enough(undiagnosed DM). Because of that screening for blood glucose levels isnecessary to detect diabetes mellitus. On the other hand several studies foundthat Body Mass Index (BMI) also has correlation too with blood glucose levels.Civil servants is a group of people at high risk of developing obesity, whereobesity itself is one of risk factor for increased level of blood glucose. Themeasurements of fasting blood glucose with enzymatic method and body massindex in 43 civil servans of Sekretariat Daerah Provinsi Riau which whom neverdiagnosed as diabetes mellitus has been tested. And the correlation between theBMI and fasting blood glucose has been computed. Spearman test result the Pscores is 0.276 (P>0.05) and therefore concludes that there is no correlationbetween Body Mass Index and Fasting Blood Glucose in this researchKeywords : Diabetes Mellitus, Body Mass Index, Fasting Blood Glucose, Civilservants

Abstract

ABSTRACTSleep and rest is primary needs for everyone to make body have a normal function. Decreasing of sleep duration in someone will make some side effect for body and mind. Some study suggest that the shortening of time sleeping in a person can lead obesity which one can caused many other diseases that related with lifestyle such as hypertension and diabetes melitus. This research use analytic method with cross sectional approach to knowing the relationship between sleep quality and obesity in 2014 class student of Medical Faculty University of Riau. Total sample in this study was 137 students. This study was performed to assess the quality of sleep and obesity in respondents. Sleep quality assessment is done by filling out the quistionnaire Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the assessment of obesity is done by Body Mass Index (BMI) by measuring height and weight of respondents using height and weight scales. Research results obtained by sex that there’s 84,7% female respondents and 15,3% male respondents. Results of nutritional state in respondents based on BMI that there’s 59,9% non obesity while 40,1% obesity. Result of sleep quality showed that 68,6% were classified in poor category and 31,4% in good category. Chi square test results that there’s no relationship between quality of sleep with obesity in 2014 Class Students of Medical Faculty University of Riau.Key words : Sleep quality, obesity

Abstract

ABSTRACTNutrition in the early adolescents is a matter that must be considered. Many impacts that will be experienced by adolescents when malnutrition. Adolescents who are malnutrition will affect reproduction, in adolescent who experience obesity will be at risk of degenerative diseases. The purpose of this study is to describe the nutritional status of SMP Negeri 13 Pekanbaru. This research were 290 students from grade VII and VIII consisting of 100 boys and 190 girls were taken with purposive sampling technique. Data were colected by questionnaire filled out by respondents to assess student characteristics data and calculate BMI by measuring weight and height to get nutritionaly measuring weight and height to get nutritional status of students. Nutritional status is divided into malnutrition, underweight, normal, overweight and obesity based on standard anthropometric indicators BMI per age. The result of this study a normal nutritional status is 172 students (59%), followed by the nutritional status of overweight were 66 students (23%), obesity were 29 students (10%), underweight were 19 students (7%) and malnutrition were 4 students (1%).Keywords :nutritional status, nutrient, early adolescents

Abstract

ABSTRACT Rowing is a sport featured Indonesian National Sports Committee Riau Province which require considerable force. Achieve good performance need a good physical condition. Aerobic endurance (VO2max) has contributed in aerobic endurance. VO2max value the better the athlete, the more fit physical health conditions. The purpose of this study was to know the description of aerobic endurance (VO2max) on rower Indonesian National Sport Committee (KONI) Riau province in 2015. This research method is a descriptive cross-sectional with total sampling technique. VO2max values obtained from the results of physical tests using balke test. The study was conducted on 57 respondents consisting of 43 men and 14 women. Results of this study showed the male athletes as many as 24 people (55.8%) in the category of very poor, 13 (30.2%) very poor and 6 (14.0%) enough. Whereas in female athletes earned 8 (57.1%) in the poor category and 6 (42.9%) very poor. Keywords: aerobic endurance (VO2max), rower men and women, Indonesian national sport committee

Abstract

ABSTRACTA great nation can be recognized as a great nation if they haveextraordinary achievement and perfomance on international sport event.Nowadays, there are crisis of sports in Indonesia due to lack of internationalsport achievements and do not show a lot of improvements in national sportdevelopment. Achievement on sports influenced by some factors, one wasbalanced nutrition on athletes. Balanced nutrition on athletes should be givenhuge attention, because giving unbalanced nutrition will cause damage toathletes’ performance, health and sport achievement. The research mainly focusabout nutritional status from heavy lifters, weightlifter and bodybuilder fromIndonesian National Sport Commitee(KONI) Riau province on year 2015. Theresearch design is descriptive cross-sectional. The samples were obtained by totalsampling. The result showed that there were 30 people : 16 heavy lifters, 9weightlifters and 5 bodybuilder; 70% male and 30% female; the average age is atthe end of adolescent age (17-25 yr); Body Mass Index (BMI) mostly overweight(33,3%); the measurement of waist circumference showed that 43,3% has obesity;waist hip ratio showed that 46,6% has obesity, body fat compotition by skinfoldshow abnormality by 63,3% and bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) by 90%.The conclusion is athletes’ nutrition status is high normal. Abstract

ABSTRACTHypertension is one of the issues that need to be prevented early on. This disease often does not cause show any symptoms, the high and uncontrolled blood pressure in long term can lead to complications. The prevalence of hypertension with obesity has increased in both the developed and developing countries. It is caused by negative changes in lifestyle that lead to metabolic changes and globalization. Patients with hypertension and obesity have higher circulating blood volume and cardiac pumping power compared to person with the ideal weight. The aim of this research is to figure out description of the nutritional status of patients with hypertension in Puskesmas Melur Pekanbaru. this is sdescriptive research where the population was all hypertensive patients who come for treatment to Puskesmas Melur Pekanbaru and the samples were taken with consecutive sampling method. The result showed that there were 87 people consist of 29.9% male and 70.1% female, the average age is at 46-65 years, 67.8% of respondents do not have a family history of hypertension and 52, 9% were hypertensive stage 1. The most common nutritional status based on a body mass index is obesity stage 1 (40.2%), followed by normal category (21.8%), overweight (20.7%), obesity stage 2 (14.9 %) and underweight (2.3%). Based on the measurement of waist circumference, 80.46% of patients were obesity and 19.54% were found not obese. Based on waist hip ratio, 90.8% of the patients were obese and 9.2% include not obese.Key words : nutritional status, hypertension, obesity, Puskesmas Melur Pekanbaru

Abstract

ABSTRACTNutrition is one of the indicators to assess the health of a country's development success in building quality human resources. Less nutrition in school children can cause delays in physical growth and motor development, lower IQ, behavioral disorders, lack of social skills and susceptibility to infectious disease. The purpose of this study is to describe the nutritional status of primary school children in Siak Kecil Bengkalis. This research is a descriptive study with cross-sectional design. The subject in this reseacrh were 350 students from grade 1 – 6 were taken with random sampling technique. Data were collected by questionnaire filled out by parent respondents to assess student characteristics data and calculate BMI by measuring weight and height to get the nutritional status of students. Nutritional status is divided into malnutrition, underweight, normal, overweight, and obesity based on standard anthropometric indicators BMI per age. The data showed that children with malnutrition were 6 children (1,7%), underweight were 42 children (12,0%), normal were 266 children (76,0%), overweight were 20 children (5,7%), and obesity were 16 children(4,6%).Keywords: elementary school students, nutrition, nutritional status

Abstract

ABSTRACTFunctional dyspepsia syndrome is collection of symptoms that consist discomfort in the upper abdomen (epigastric), heartburn, bloating, post prandial fullness and accompany with nausea, vomiting and bleching. Functional dyspepsia syndrome has multifactorial causes including consumptsion of high risk food such as spicy, acidic food and irritating drink. This research used a descriptive cross - sectional method to describe profile of functional dyspepsia syndrom in student of Faculty of Medicine University of Riau Generation 2014 with 138 respondent that included this research. This study used a questionaire to assess functional dyspepsia syndrome incidence and questionnaires FFQ to assess the frequency of risk food consumption habits. The results of this reasearch, 77 persons ( 55.8 % ) were functional dyspepsia syndrome. There were 74 persons (81,4%) with dyspepsia syndrom who frequently consume the spicy food, 72 persons (91,1%) who frequently consume the acidic food, and 39 persons (69,6%) who frequently consume the iritative drinking. The results of this research, respondent with dyspepsia syndrome more frequently eat spicy , acidic food and irritative drink that was compared with those who did not complain of dyspepsia syndrome.Keywords: syndrome dyspepsia, FFQ, food consumptsion and risk drinking habbit

Abstract

The impact of body image’s dissatisfaction can be a leading factor for weight loss diet. If it is not balanced with knowledge of a healthy diet, adolescents can get caught in the wrong diet, causing a decrease in nutritional status, iron deficiency, etc. The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between body image perceptions and nutritional status of SMPN 8 students in Pekanbaru. This study is a cross-sectional study with total samples were 160 students which choosen randomly. The perception of body image was obtained from BSQ34 quistionnaire and nutritional status using weight scale and microtoise. Analyzed data using simple regression test. The results showed a positive correlation between body image and nutritional status (p=0,000; r=0,526). Each increase 1 point score of body image, the body mass index predicted will increase by 0.03kg/m2. Total respondents who were satisfied with their body was 62.5% and dissatisfied were 37.5%. The nutritional status of respondents were 3.1% very thin, 6.3% thin, 63.8% normal, 18.1% obese and 8.8% obese. The need for a psychological approach from school to increase student’s confidence of their own body.
