Abstract

Cianjur is one of the district capitals in West Java with a dense population, but it is difficult for people to find qualified masseurs, especially sports massage. Massage courses are compulsory courses that must be taken by PJKR Element students to fulfill their credits. Massage courses are unique courses because students must understand theory and practice. Therefore, we as lecturers and students carry out community service by holding free sports massages in places that are often visited by the community, namely the Cianjur city car free day, which aims to ensure that people can feel the benefits of these activities, including the body becoming fresher, not sore, feeling more relaxed and so on so that people get benefits from these activities. This PKM activity was carried out during two meetings on February 11-18, 2024 with a total of 327 massage objects from various educational backgrounds and professions. The community felt happy and satisfied and hoped that similar activities could be carried out every week.

Abstract

A study was conducted to examine the impact of circuit training on basketball shooting skills among the athletes of Suryakancana University basketball club. The research utilized a experimental design, allowing for a close resemblance to a real experiment. The objective was to test the effect of the independent variable (circuit training) on the dependent variables (shooting skills) and establish a cause- and-effect relationship. The experimental group received the circuit training treatment, while the control group did not. The study involved a population of Suryakancana University basketball club athletes, with a sample size of 20 out of 40 individuals. Results of the research revealed that the 14 week circuit training program had a significant impact on improving shooting skills, as indicated by the N-Gain Score of 0.89, which exceeded the threshold of 0.7. Particularly, the training enhanced arm strength and leg muscle strength among the athletes.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to carry out data analysis of physical condition tests and measurements of athletes based on sport science at sports clubs in Cianjur Regency and surrounding areas. The sport science approach is used as a scientific basis for comprehensive measurement and evaluation of athletes' physical capacity. The implementation methods include: (1) socialization and education of sport science to coaches and athletes; (2) implementation of standardized series of physical condition tests; (3) data analysis using statistical software and sport science software; and (4) compilation of individual athlete physical condition profiles. The activity involved 337 athletes from 37 different sports with an age range of 15–50 years. The analysis results show that the average VO2max score of endurance athletes is in the good category (52.3 ml/kg/minute), the explosive strength of game sport athletes still needs improvement (standing broad jump 185.4 cm), and the flexibility of all athletes is in the sufficient category. This community service program succeeded in increasing coaches' understanding of sport science data interpretation by 78% and building a sustainable athlete physical condition data recording system. It is hoped that this activity can be a model for other clubs and sports organizations in implementing a data-based approach to athlete achievement development.
