Abstract

Abstract: It is interesting to study al-A‘ẓamī’s effort in proving the authenticity of hadiths scientifically through the thoughts in his works and his contribution in the study of hadith. Therefore, this study aimed to examine further al-A‘ẓamī’s thoughts and contributions given in the study of hadith, as well as the defense of the critique of the islamicist and muslim thinkers. This study was a research library with a qualitative approach, whereas the method of data collection used was the method of documentation, then the data was analyzed descriptively and critically. The results of this study found that the contributions made by al-A‘ẓamī in the study of hadith are: (1) to show the evidence that the writing of hadith had been made since the time of the Prophet. It was proven by the existence of at least 52 friends who had the documentation of the hadith texts, as well as to clarify and add at least 21 names of friends who had been the secretaries of the Prophet of Allah and had never been revealed by the previous hadith scholar. (2) to describe the 20 arguments showing that the term samā‘ and taḥdīṡ that were not only used for verbal delivery but also for dictating, receiving, and teaching the hadith in written medium. (3) to proove the validity of the isnād through his study of three hadith narrated by hundreds of people in many different areas, (4) to strengthen and develop the ideas of the muḥaddiṡīn through systematic steps to test the hadith critique, including research on the character of the narrators, cross comparison or mu‘āraḍah, and critique of reason. Abstrak: Studi ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan pemikiran dan kontribusi al-A‘ẓamī dalam studi hadis, serta pertahanan dari kritik yang berasal dari Islamis dan pemikir Muslim. Studi juga merupakan riset kepustakaan dengan pendekatan kualitatif, sedangkan metode koleksi data yang digunakan adalah metode dokumentasi, selanjutnya data tersebut dianalisis secara deskriptip dan kritis. Hasil dari studi ini menemukan bahwa kontribusi yang dilakukan oleh al-A‘ẓami dalam studi hadis adalah: (1) untuk menunjukkan bukti bahwa penulisan hadis dilakukan sejak masa Nabi. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan keberadaan sedikitnya 52 sahabat yang mempunyai dokumentasi teks-teks hadis, dan juga untuk mengklarifikasi dan menambahkan sedikitnya 21 nama yang menjadi sekretaris Nabi Allah dan tidak pernah dimunculkan oleh para ulama hadis sebelumnya. (2) untuk menggambarkan 20 argumen yang menunjukkan bahwa istilah samā‘ dan taḥdīṡ tidak hanya digunakan untuk penyampaian verbal tetapi juga untuk mendiktekan, menerima, dan mengajarkan hadis dalam medium tertulis.(3) untuk membuktikan validitas isnād melalui studinya dari tiga hadis yang dinarasikan oleh ratusan orang dalam banyak wilayah yang berbeda. (4) untuk memperkuat dan mengembangkan ide-ide muḥaddiṡīn melalui langkah-langkah sistematis untuk menguji kritik hadis, mencakup penelitian tentang karakter para perawi, perbandingan silang atau mu‘āraḍah, dan kritik nalar. Abstract

Kajian ini bertujuan untuk melacak  pemikiran dan  gerakan keagamaan pesantren  di  era  globalisasi. Pendekatan dalam peneltian ini adalah penelitian kepustakaan.  Hasil  penelitian ini adalah radikalisme dan liberalisme sebuah pesantren sangat tergantung kepada para pemimpin di pesantren tersebut (pemilik, kyai, atau santri senior). Jika arus pemikiran para pemimpinnya berkarakter radikal, maka sebuah pesantren beserta santrinya akan berpandangan  radikal, sedangkan jika para pemimpinnya berkarakter moderat, maka sebuah pesantren beserta santrinya berkarakter moderat, bahkan bisa menjadi liberal dalam situasi dan waktu tertentu.  Sejalan dengan globalisasi, wajah pesantren  di Indonesia sudah tidak lagi dimonopoli oleh kelompok tradisional atau fundamental-radikal, melainkan  sudah diwarnai oleh pesantren-pesantren baru yang di bentuk oleh kelompok Islam lainnya dengan wajah yang berbeda pula.Kata kunci: radikalisme, moderatisme, liberalisme, pesantren, globalisasi RADICALISM, MODERATISM, AND BOARDING LIBERALISM (KEEP TRACK OF THOUGHT AND BOARDING SCHOOL RELIGIOUS MOVEMENT’S IN THE GLOBALIZATION ERA). This study aims to track the movement of thought and boarding school religious movement  in the globalization  era. This study uses library research. The result of this study is the radicalism and liberalism of a boarding school is very dependent upon the leaders in its boarding school (owner, kyai, or senior students).  If the current leaders have radical character thought, then a boarding school with its students will think the radically, whereas if its leaders are moderate, so a boarding school and its students will have moderate characteristic, even they can be liberal in a certain situation and time. In line with the globalization, the face of boarding school in Indonesia is no longer monopolized  by traditional or fundamental-radical  group, but it was already colored by boarding schools in new forms by other Islamic groups with different faces.Keywords: radicalism,  moderatism,   liberalism, boarding  school, globalization

Abstract

This article aims to examine the theoretical framework of Mu?ammad Nâ?ir al-Dîn al-Albânî on ?adîth. It has been known that sometimes al-Albânî explicitly put some ?adîths into unsound classification, whereas some major ?adîth scholars put the ?adîth in valid and authentic condition. Through studying his book entitled Silsilat al-A?âdîth al-?a?î?ah and some other books, this articel finds that although in some cases his conclusion is quite different from other ?adîth scholars, he is still standing on the previous principles to determine the validity of ?adîth such like: chain continuity (itti?âl al-sanad), fair narrators (?âdil) and having good intellectuality (?âbi?), safe from berration (shudhûdh) and trouble (?illat), but at some points, he has made his own differentiation in defining those principals. Besides, al-Albânî has also given special attention to the validity of matn (the content of ?adîth), that the matn should not be contrary with the Qur?ân, sunnah ?a?î?ah (the valid tradition), logical reasoning, historical facts, sciences, and the practice of previous piety (salaf al-?âli?).

Abstract

This article aims to describe Rebo Wekasan and its various rituals by focusing on the thoughts of KH. Abdul Hamid Kudus have written particularly in his work Kanz al-Najāḥ wa al-Surūr. The data was collected through the documen­tation method and analyzed critically. This study found that Rebo Wekasan ritual is local wisdom combined with Islamic values. The origins of rituals carried out by some Indonesian Muslim people, especially on Java, often refer to the opinion of KH. Abdul Hamid Kudus. His thought is that Allah reveals various kinds of disasters and trials on the last Wednesday of the month of Ṣafar, so that people were advised to perform certain rituals such as sunnah prayers, reading verses of the Qur'an, ṣalawat, and praying. These rituals are indeed practiced in several areas in Java with various modifications of local traditions which are manifested in the form of cultural carnivals, Quranic recitations, and selamatan (local gathering). However, his book is an inseparable from criticism, especially criticisms of sources that are considered less authoritative and critical in terms of the quality of the hadith about Rebo Wekasan.

Abstract

Sunnah is the second sources of law after the Qur’an. The understanding of Sunnah according to muhadditsin has wider scope than that of ushuliyyin. This is understandable due the concern of ushuliyyin is sunnah in its role as a source of Islamic law, while muhadditsin classifies everything that comes from the Prophet PBUH as sunnah, whether or not they have legal consequences. This paper captures the discourse on Sunnah according to ushuliyyin and muhadditsin perspective; starting from the definition of Sunnah, its function and classification, including the dichotomy of tasyri’iyyah and ghayr tasyri’iyyah, as well as the meaning and patterns of interaction with the Sunnah in order to obtain a proper understanding of the Sunnah and draw a law from it.

Abstract

Kemerdekaan bermedia sosial—disamping mendatangkan banyak manfaat—juga membawa dampak buruk dengan semakin berkembangnya hate speech ini. Persoalan hate speech menjadi semakin kompleks dengan semakin maraknya informasi, ujaran, dan berita yang tidak dapat dipertanggung jawabkan (hoax). Berbagai problematika kehidupan yang muncul sebaiknya dirujuk solusinya kepada kedua sumber agama Islam tersebut, yakni al-Qur’an dan Hadis. Termasuk pula, tatkala fenomena hate speech ini mencuat yang bisa memecah belah bangsa Indonesia, bahkan umat Islam khususnya, maka pencarian solusi teoritis melalui al-Qur’an dan Hadis diperlukan dalam rangka meminimalisir perpecahan dan provokasi antar umat beragama, serta mengukuhkan persatuan bangsa Indonesia pada umumnya.Kajian ini bersifat library research. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik dokumentasi, untuk selanjutnya dianalisis secara deskriptif-kualitatif. Penelitian ini mengungkap adanya beragam bentuk hate speech yang disinyalir dalam al-Qur’an dan hadis di antaranya: Sukhriyyah (meremehkan/mengejek) lamzu (mengolok-olok, mencela), ghibah (pencemaran nama baik, gunjingan buruk), fitnah, qadzaf (tuduhan tak berdasar) dan tanabuz (menghina). Sedangkan penanggulangannya dilakukan dengan klarifikasi atau tabayyun dan menganjurkan umat Islam untuk menyebarkan good speech.

AbstractCook’s work entitled The Opponents  of the Writing  of Tradition in Early Islam focuses more on opposition to writing traditions (hadith) that occurred in the early days of Islam in the process of shifting the oral tradition in Hadith narration into a written tradition, and did not expose the chronology for writing  tradition itself. Cook classified the opposition in writing hadith in the early days of Islam into two phases, namely Basra phase and common phase which includes Kufa, Medina, Mecca, Yemen, and Syria, and their arguments which are built by each phase, as well as patterns of compromise adopted to connect the two opposite opinions

Abstract

Kedudukan hadis sebagai sumber hukum kedua setelah al-Qur’an menjadikan perhatian dan kajian terhadapnya amatlah penting. Peran Nur ad-Din ar-Raniri dan Abd ar-Rauf as-Sinkili dalam mengembangkan kajian hadis di Indonesia pada abad ke-17 H. yang pada saat itu belum populer dan belum menjadi kajian keilmuan secara mandiri tidaklah dapat dipandang sebelah mata. Artikel ini hendak melihat kontribusi yang diberikan dua ulama tersebut, dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif-kualitatif. Ar-Raniri berhasil mendekatkan umat Islam Indonesia dengan hadis melalui karyanya, Hidâyat al-Hâbiîb at-Targîb wa at-Tarhîb. Demikian pula dengan as-Sinkili melalui dua karyanya, Syarh Latîf 'ala Arba'în Hadiîst al-Imam an-Nawawi dan al-Mawa'iz al-Badî'ah.The position of hadith as the second source after the Qur'an makes the study of it very important. The role of Nur ad-Din ar-Raniri and Abd ar-Rauf as-Sinkili in developing the study of hadith in Indonesia in the 17th century H. which was not popular and had not become a scientific study independently at that time can not be underestimated. This article looks at the contributions of these two scholars, using a descriptive-qualitative approach. Ar-Raniri was successfull in making Indonesian Muslims closer to the hadith through his work, Hidâyat al-Hâbiîb at-Targîb wa at-Tarhîb. Similarly, as-Sinkili through his two works, Syarh Latîf 'ala Arba'în Hadiîst an li al-Imam an-Nawawi and al-Mawa'iz al-Badî' ah.

Abstract

Kuatnya dominasi madzhab Maliki di Tunisia menjadikan perhatian masyarakatnya terhadap hadis sangatlah besar, sehingga tidak mengherankan jika banyak ulama yang muncul dari negeri ini, salah satunya Abu al-Arab at-Tamimi. Tokoh yang dikaji ini memiliki kompetensi di bidang hadis dan sejarah. Ia banyak meriwayatkan dan mengajarkan hadis Nabi saw., di antaranya adalah hadis-hadis fadha’il Ifriqiyyah yang kontroversial dan menuai kritik dari beberapa ulama dan para pengkaji hadis berikutnya. Meskipun jika dikaji lebih jauh, periwayatan hadis tersebut menjadi sesuatu yang biasa bagi para muhaddits sekaligus muarrikh yang cenderung memberikan kelonggaran dalam hadis-hadis mengenai keutamaan suatu negeri, bangsa, bahkan bahasa. Selama hidupnya, Abu al-Arab tidak hanya berperan dalam meriwayatkan hadis Nabi saw. saja, tetapi ia juga mendokumentasikan pemikiran-pemikirannya yang terkait dengan rijal-hadits dan al-jarh wa at-ta’dil. Periwayatan dan gagasan-gagasan hadis Abu al-Arab selanjutnya dikembangkan oleh para ulama hadis berikutnya seperti Abu al-Hasan al-Qabisi, Atiq at-Tujibi, Abu Bakr Abdullah al-Maliki, Abd ar-Rahman ibn ad-Dabbagh, dan Abu al-Qasim ibn Naji, juga dinukil oleh beberapa pakar hadis terkemuka seperti Imam adz-Dzahabi dan Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani.
