Abstract

Research on heterogeneous group design in mathematics education and empirical evidence comparing the effectiveness of homogeneous and heterogeneous groups on students' problem-solving abilities (PSA) is still limited. However, PSA is an important competency in mathematics, yet the application of effective group design to develop it remains a challenge. This study addresses this gap by investigating the impact of homogeneous group designs on PSA among high school students in Denpasar. Utilizing a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, the research involved 120 students who participated in a series of six instructional sessions with homogeneous grouping. Pretest and post-test data were analyzed using paired sam-ple t-tests to assess changes in PSA, focusing on problem understanding, planning, implementation, and reflection. The results of the data analysis test produced a t-value of -18,839 with p-value of 0.000, which was less than 0.05. The findings revealed a significant improvement in PSA scores with homogeneous groups, suggesting that grouping students by similar ability levels enhances peer interactions and instructional support more effectively than heterogeneous group designs. Teacher and student interviews corroborated these results, highlighting more equitable participation and tailored learning experiences in homogene-ous settings. While this study underscores the benefits of homogeneous grouping in improving problem-solving abilities (PSA), it also identifies the need for integrating diverse instructional media. Future research should examine the impact of various educational technologies and broader contexts to refine group design strategies in mathematics education.

Abstract

The integration of ethnomathematics ((a combination of mathematical concepts with local culture) into education presents unique opportunities and challenges, particularly in the digital era where cultural and technological contexts converge. This study explores the responses of eighth-grade students in Indonesia to ethnomathematics-based learning centred on Balinese culture. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, 42 students participated in interviews and essay tests designed to assess their abilities in solving culturally embedded mathematical problems. The findings reveal a strong enthusiasm among students, who found the approach engaging and novel. However, significant difficulties emerged in connecting mathematical concepts to cultural contexts, exposing a gap between student interest and problem-solving capabilities. The implications of this study underscore the urgent need for culturally responsive teaching methodologies capable of bridging the gap between theory and practice in the digital educational landscape. These findings provide a new direction for innovations in ethnomathematics education relevant to the needs of the 21st century.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an interaction dynamics-based mathematics learning video integrated with the Edpuzzle platform to support learning in higher education. The development model used is ADDIE which includes five stages: analyse, design, develop, implement, and evaluate. The product developed is an interactive video that allows the integration of questions in the video flow, and supports synchronous and asynchronous interaction between lecturers and students. The validity of the product was tested using the LORI instrument by two material experts and two media experts, while the practicality was tested through a UEQ questionnaire filled out by students. The validation results showed that the learning video was considered very feasible to use, both in terms of material content and media design. The practicality test shows that the product is very practical to use in lectures, with indicators of attractiveness, efficiency, clarity, and novelty in the excellent category. Thus, this learning video is not only effective in terms of content, but also supports the dynamics of interaction and the development of pedagogical skills of prospective mathematics teachers.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the effect of inquiry-based learning strategies assisted by presentations and tiered questions on the motivation and biology learning outcomes of 10th-grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Denpasar. This type of research is classified as quasi-experimental with an Non-Equivalent Post-Test-Only Control Group Design. The sample in this study consists of students from class X IPA 7 and class X IPA 5 at SMA N 2 Denpasar, involving a total of 2 classes selected using the random sampling technique. The data obtained is quantitative data in the form of learning motivation scores and biology learning outcomes. Analysis using MANOVA with the help of SPSS 23.0 for Windows. The results of the hypothesis test show the following results: there is an influence of the inquiry learning strategy assisted by presentations and tiered questions on motivation, there is an influence of the inquiry learning strategy assisted by presentations and tiered questions on learning outcomes, there is a simultaneous influence of the inquiry learning strategy assisted by presentations and tiered questions on motivation and biology learning outcomes in the X IPA class at SMA Negeri 2 Denpasar.

Abstract

How do Digital Native Students Responses to Balinese Ethnomathematics Problems? Objectives: This study determines digital native students' responses to ethnomathematical problems in Balinese culture. Methods: This study uses descriptive analysis techniques. The subjects were 42 students of class VIII.1 and VIII.5 SMP Widiatmika. Data was collected through questionnaires, tests, and interviews. The student response questionnaire consists of 3 aspects, namely familiar or not familiar, appropriate or not appropriate, and interested or not interested. The responses data the percentage of positive and negative responses is then calculated. Findings: The results showed that only 16.67% of students are familiar with Balinese ethnomathematics problems, 95.24% of students considered that the ethnomathematics was appropriate in learning mathematics, and 90.48% of students are interested in ethnomathematics. Conclusion: It was found that digital native students tend to give a positive response but are unable to understand Balinese ethnomathematics. Abstract

The effect of HOTS-speed test based on problem-based learning (PBL) in improving analytical reasoning ability of students of class XI MIPA SMA N 1 Marga is the purpose of this study. By using factorial group design (treatment by subject); involving sample 132 students. HOTS-speed test and PBL are independent variables, as well as analytical reasoning abilities as the dependent variable. The data was collected using tests, namely: analytical reasoning ability tests, which have been tested for validity and reliability coefficients. The collected data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA, which previously tested the data distribution normality and variance homogeneity test. The results of the study indicate that there was an effect of HOTS-speed test setting of a problem-based learning model on the analytical reasoning ability of students. In order to obtain a more optimal analytical reasoning ability, the types of tests used must be considered. Key words: HOTS-Speed test, PBL, analytical reasoning ability

Abstract

Mejejahitan is an activity to obtain the shapes of pieces of leaf material. The product of this activity is called jejahitan. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The aim of this research is to determine the mathematical concepts that exist in Balinese jejahitan and the potential for their use in the mathematics learning process. The subjects of this research were three mothers from Dalung village. The data in this research was analyzed through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation and data conclusion. Studies on Mathematics learning contained in jejahitan include squares, rectangles, trapezoids and circles. The geometric elements contained in this jejahitan can be used as a learning resource, especially those related to the elements, properties and fold symmetry of squares, rectangles, trapezoids and circles.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis digital aplikasi Edpuzzle bagi tenaga pendidik. Edpuzzle merupakan salah satu media pembelajaran berbasis video yang dapat diakses dengan cepat dan mudah. Metode penelitian yang dipergunakan dalam penulisan artikel ini adalah penelitian pengembangan (Research and Development). Pada prinsipnya penelitian pengembangan dilakukan untuk membuat sebuah produk menjadi lebih efektif dan efisien berdasarkan manfaat yang ditimbulkan oleh produk yang dikembangkan. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah penggunaan media pembelajaran Edpuzzle memberikan manfaat bagi tenaga pendidik dalam kegiatan pembelajaran khususnya matematika melalui video pembelajaran interaktif

Abstract

Penggunaan e-book komik matematika berbasis edutainment merupakan salah satu solusi yang dapat membantu meningkatkan kemampuan matematis siswa. Namun, penerimaan siswa terhadap media pembelajaran baru biasanya tidak akan berjalan dengan mudah. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah sebanyak 42 siswa kelas VIII.C SMP Negeri 1 Blahbatuh. Penelitian ini berlokasi di SMP Negeri 1 Blahbatuh. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan angket, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data kemudian dianalisis menggunakan analisis data deskriptif kualitatif dengan tahap-tahap berikut: reduksi data, presentasi data, serta penarikan kesimpulan atau verifikasi. Berdasarkan data yang sudah diperoleh, skor rata – rata hasil respon siswa terhadap kualitas e-book komik matematika adalah 83,07 dengan perolehan persentase ideal 83%, dimana dalam kriteria penilaian ideal tergolong kedalam kriteria “sangat baik”. Berdasarkan rata – rata dan persentase ideal maka dapat diisimpulkan bahwa penilaian respon siswa terhadap kualitas e-book komik matematika dikategorikan “sangat baik” dan bisa dijadikan sebagai media pembelajaran pada materi lingkaran. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara yang diadakan ke siswa, siswa menyatakan merasa lebih bersemangat saat belajar menggunakan e-book komik matematika berbasis edutainment. Dari hasil observasi, terlihat siswa sangat antusias dalam mengikuti pembelajaran matematika menggunakan e-book komik matematika berbasis edutainment. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa e-book komik matematika berbasis edutainment merupakan media pembelajaran matematika inovatif yang dapat membantu meningkatkan kemampuan matematis siswa.

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar Biologi siswa kelas XI MIPA 3 di SMA N 1 Kuta Utara melalui penerapan metode mind mapping. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang dibagi menjadi dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI MIPA 3 di SMA N 1 Kuta Utara yang berjumlah 45 orang, sementara objek penelitian ini adalah hasil belajar siswa. Pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen tes hasil belajar kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan pada Siklus I persentase siswa yang tuntas adalah 60% kemudian meningkat di Siklus II dengan perentase ketuntasan 86,67%, dikarenakan sudah memenuhi ketuntasan klasikal yang ditetapkan maka penelitian dihentikan pada Siklus II. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar siswa pada pembelajaran Biologi dengan menerapkan metode mind mapping.
