Abstract

Noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) is a hearing loss due to noise that exceeds the hearing threshold limit value (TLV) in a work environment. Impacts of this disorder are decreased concentration, fatigue, headaches, sleep disturbances, and loss of job. Therefore, it is very important for industry stakeholders and workers to understand about the NIHL, so they can prevent and rehabilitate  this problem. Risk factors that affect degrees of severity of deafness are noise intensity, frequency, duration of exposure per day, length of work, individual sensitivity, age and other factors that can cause deafness. Based on this, it can be understood that an amount of received exposure of noise energy will be similarly proportional as obtained damage. In general, NIHL cannot be cured but can be prevented and rehabilitated. Its prevention can be by applying hearing conservation program (HCP) such as noise measurement procedure, noise control, periodic audiometry measurement, hearing protection, worker education, recording, and evaluation. Some of benefits that can be obtained from the hearing conservation program are as a guide to diagnose hearing loss to prevent health impacts from noise exposure.

Abstract

Introduction: Gastritis is an inflamed gastric mucosa that can occur in a short, monthly, or even a year. Theincidence of gastritis in senior high school students were currently the second highest disease under ISPA. Thecondition of gastritis will indirectly disrupt the learning process and can affect the concentration of learning fromsenior high school students. The most influential determinant factors are behavior and environment. Aim of study:This study was to analyze the determinants of the incidence of gastritis in senior high school students. Method: Thedesign used in this study was observational analytic with cross sectional design. Samples of 148 senior high schoolstudents were selected using the stratified simple random sampling method. The research instrument used aquestionnaire that was distributed directly to selected samples with a nominal data scale. The data obtained werecarried out by the Lambda hypothesis test and logistic regression. Results and Discussion: The results showed thatthe determinants of behavior and environment had a weak influence (r = 0.348) on the incidence of gastritis in highschool students. The logistic regression test results showed that the determinant of behavior has an OR = 5.2 withan influential breakfast habit factor and an environmental factor having an OR = 4.4 with a study load factor thatgives an influence. Conclusion: The conclusion that can be drawn was that the behavioral factors, especially thehabit of not eating breakfast and environmental factors, are related to the burden of studies that affect senior highschool students causing gastritis. These two factors can basically be controlled by increasing promotive efforts forstudents at the senior high school so that gastritis cases can be prevented.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is a chronic and contagious infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tubeculosis. In terms of TB treatment, it still can’t be handled optimally, but there is a new problem namely Multidrug –Resistant which is now a global problem in various worlds. In Jember Regency, the detection of Multidrug –Resistant TB cases was known to increase rapidly in 2018. In the occurrence of a disease, according to H.L Blum (1981), there are 4 main factors the occurance of a diseas: lifestyles, environment, health care services, and pshycobiology. Environment have the biggest role out of those factors. This study to analyze the relationship between environmental factors and the incidence of Multidrug –Resistant Pulmonary TB patients in Jember Regency. This study used SEM –PLS (Structural Equation Modeling –Partial Least Square) correlation test. The samples are collected using area sampling method and the sample size is determined using Slovin’s formula becausethe population size is already known (144 respondents). Questionnaire that has been tested for validity is used as measuring instrument in this research.Based on the analysis of the SEM –PLS (Structural Equation Modeling –Partial Least Square) program which was carried out in a multigroup analysis of environmental factors. The Outer Model shows that the loading factor of occupancy density, family and job’s values is >0,6. Furthermore, the inner model shows that t-count of physical variables in MDR –TB cases is higher than the t-table(1,96). The results of the structural model for SEM –PLS analysis indicate a relationship between the occupancy density of the physical environment variables and the incidence of MDR –TB.There is a relationship between occpancy density in physical environment variables and the incidence of MDR –TB in Jember Regency.

Abstract

Sugarcane workers have a higher risk of being exposed to pesticides where pesticides have high toxicity. One of the most common diseases is kidney disorders, including acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease of unknown disease or known as mesoamerican nephropathy. This study is a literature review to determine the comprehensive management of kidney disorders in sugar industry workers. A comprehensive review was conducted by searching for national and international journals in the last 6 years which were identified according to the topic. Kidney disease in sugarcane workers can take the form of acute kidney injury in the acute phase and become chronic if the risk factors cannot be overcome. Risk factors for kidney disease in sugarcane workers are dehydration, pesticides, heat stress, strenuous physical activity, exposure to sugarcane burning smoke. Preventive steps that can be taken include providing good fluid intake, providing good rest areas, setting working hours, modifying special backpacks for water bottles, procuring appropriate personal protective equipment and using bagasse to reduce cadmium ions in pesticides. If kidney disease has occurred, monitoring and treatment is carried out according to the level of the disease so that it does not get worse. Sugar industry workers have various risks for the occurrence of kidney disease. Management that includes promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative can be done to provide comprehensive services for kidney disorders in sugarcane workers.
