Abstract

Among the negative impacts of Mobile Legends are dependence, loss of productivity, and health degradation. This research explored the other side of Mobile Legends, focusing on their positive impacts on learning. This study aims to explore the benefits of Mobile Legends digital games in Arabic language skills and analyze the use of Arabic in Mobile Legends games. The approach in this study is qualitative descriptive. The research sample was Arabic Language Education students of UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. The results showed: 1) the game used Arabic and players could improve listening to the Arabic vocabulary used in the game; 2) this game used Arabic in communication interactions between teams and opponents so that communication between players using Arabic-supported speaking skills; 3) this game helped users understand words and phrases used in the context of specific situations and team interactions; 4) besides the language aspect, the cultural aspect also influenced this game, Khaleed's character is identified as Khaleed bin Walid the valiant hero of Islam from Arabia. This research outlines that the Mobile Legends application can improve students' Arabic skills, especially listening, speaking, and reading.

Abstract

The competence of writing narratives in Arabic requires mastery of developing complex ideas and linguistic structures. This qualitative study aims to analyze the responses, impacts, and challenges of implementing contextual learning through writing autobiographical narrative texts based on book chapter media for university students. The participants were 63 fifth-semester students of Arabic Language Education at Universitas Islam Negeri Imam Bonjol Padang. Data were collected through observation, book chapter document analysis, and qustionnaire, then analyzed thematically. The results revealed three main findings: first, contextualization of personal experiences increased self-efficacy and emotional engagement in the writing process; second, there was a significant increase in syntactic complexity and variation of Arabic sentence structures; third, book chapter media facilitated creative expression through experimentation with paragraph and visual design. However, challenges arose in aspects of grammatical accuracy and internalization of Arabic rhetorical rules. This study concludes that the book chapter-based contextual approach has the potential as an innovative pedagogical model that integrates writing skill development with linguistic identity formation. Further research with a mixed-methods design is recommended to quantitatively measure the model's effectiveness and explore its application in other language learning contexts.

Abstract

Learning the write scientific articles through case studies encourages students to develop practical competencies in writing scientific articles based on cases encountered in Arabic language classes. Previously, scientific writing lessons were diverted between theory and practice. So, students have difficulty in formulating a researchable problem, organizing arguments, integrating empirical evidence, or maintaining textual coherence. This research aims to analyze the implementation of learning to write ‎scientific papers in Arabic based on a case study learning through a mixed-method approach. The ‎research sample consisted of 116 students in Arabic learning program of UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. Data collection techniques ‎included writing skills tests (pre-test and post-test), observation, structured interviews via ‎Google Form, and documentation of paragraph analysis in students' scientific papers. ‎Quantitative data analysis used the t-test, while qualitative data analysis used Milles ‎and Huberman analysis technique. The research findings show an increase in students' critical thinking and creative thinking skills, which is indicated by the distribution of various phrases and sentences in scientific texts, as well as an increase in problem analysis skills found through case study learning outcomes.. The results of the t-test analysis show that ‎the significance value (2-tailed) value <.001, so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. The findings show that 98.3% of students are able to find ‎authentic research problems to support their writing skills. This innovative approach provides ‎an important contribution in the development of practical scientific writing learning through a ‎case study learning model that integrates theory-based learning and practice in exploring the ‎phenomena.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze students' creativity in writing autobiography and biography texts in Arabic using poster media in higher education. Researchers used a qualitative approach with a case study method on 35 students. Data collection techniques used interviews, documentation and observation in Arabic writing skills learning activities, while the data analysis techniques used included triangulation of data sources identified through three stages, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research results show that: 1) Student creativity in writing autobiographical and biographical texts using posters is more varied with the choice of colors, images and identification of introductory texts, experiences and life learning; 2) the sentence structure used consists of five structures, namely the structure of verbs, nouns, adverbial attributes, properties and prepositions. Research findings show that the use of poster media in learning writing skills is able to develop creativity and a variety of sentence structures. This research is limited to only two texts, so the researcher recommends further research to analyze a variety of other texts using poster media and more varied research methods.
