Abstract

A study of flywheel mass variation is done in order to keeping the undershot waterwheel performance as a picohydro scale power plant. Testing is done with the available mass variation and in pair on each the four-shaft multilevel transmission system. From the test it is know that fluctuation of generator rotation decreases with increased flywheel mass, where the decrease of fluctuation occurred in flywheel mass 11.05 Kg and 14.63 Kg, while the constant rotation of the generator on the flywheel mass 26.54 Kg and 42 Kg. The optimal mounting position to reduce the fluctuation of rotation is the nearest position on the generator is on the fourth shaft. Influence of flywheel mass variation and mounting at transmission level, can be seen through the graph of fluctuation correlation of generator rotation with flywheel mass, indicates that the installation is on fourth shaft there was a decrease of fluctuation along with the addition of flywheel mass, so it affects the power generated generator.Keywords : Flywheel, Fluctuation, Waterwheel, Irrigation, Picohydro

Abstract

In heavy lifting equipment that works pneumatically, the compressor is used in its function as an air filling device for power sources. A compressor when viewed from the way it works, there are two types of compressors, each of which works differently. The first type is a compressor with a positive displacement work method and the second is a compressor with a dynamic working method. Where the difference between the two types is the first positive displacement type compressor, this compressor model works by inserting air into a closed space, then at the same time the volume of the space is reduced, then the pressure inside will naturally increase. This high pressure which is used for various purposes in accordance with the designation of the compressor. This positive displacement compressor is used in reciprocating compressors and rotary. Meanwhile on the dynamic model compressor, the volume of space is fixed but the air inside the space is given speed. Then at the same time the speed is changed to pressure. This happens because the air in the room whose volume is still under pressure. Compressors that use this dynamic model are usually on turbo axial flow devices. Reciprocating gas compressors located at PT. Energi Mega Persada (EMP) Riau, has experienced a decline in performance, causing the performance of the compressor gas to be not optimal in compressing gas.Keywords: Enthalpy Rise Method, Reciprocating Gas Compressor, Peformance Decrease.

Abstract

Transportation is needed by the people around the Riau inland rivers to bring agricultural and natural products to the market or to other places. The transportation needed by the community is a boat or boat capable of carrying goods in Riau's inland rivers which are relatively narrow, shallow and muddy. One of the river transportation used by the people of Riau is the lane boat, where this boat has proven reliable and resilient when operating in rivers that are narrow and muddy, but it needs modification and better design in order to be able to carry goods safely and optimally. The design begins by taking measurements directly to the lane boat and then using the comparison method the total length is 200 cm, width 50 cm and height 20 cm. The planned ship prototype has a reasonable shape and size and does not deviate from the provisions based on the calculation of the main size ratio of the ship. The ship design was made with the help of maxsurf software and obtained data in the form of hydrostatic parameters, resistance, stability and effective power. The prototype of this ship is operated by a remote control system and uses a 0.81 kw lawn mower engine. The test results show that the ship prototype has a good balance and complies with the criteria and requirements of the IMO (International Maritime Organization).The maximum carrying capacity of the ship is 16 kg with a speed of 1.46 m / s or 2.84 knots. From the test, the fuel consumption of the ship's engine shows the results are 0.21 mL / s when no load and when given a maximum load of 16 kg is 0.3 mL / s.Keywords: Line boat, ship prototype, ship power, ship speed.

Abstract

The circulation of water in hydroponic crops is one ting that is very important in hydroponic plant cultivation, because the circulation of water is needed by plants. Hydroponic water needs at less than the water needs of plants cultivated in the ground. Hydroponics is defined as a way of farming without using soil. The circulation of water in the hydroponic growing methods required pembuatanya system design with the motor as the driving force of water flow, and solar panels as a powerhouse. Solar panels are one type of alternative energy that utilizes the power from solar energy into electrical energy. The motors used to circulate water are aquarium motors or aquarium pumps, the pump capacity used in this research is 25 watts with head 1.2 meters (maximum) and water debit 1300 liter / hour.Keywords: Hydroponics, Solar Panels, Submersible Water Pump.

Abstract

Pneumatic Conveyor is a System used to move solid particle from one site to another with air as a medium of transportation.Phenomenon that occurs in Pneumatic Conveying flow systems such as: Pressure losses, channel erosion, formation of deposits on the channel and so on. Channel erosion is seen getting bigger at the bottom of the channel. Besides that solid particles tend to be more concentrated in the bottom of the channel.Testing by varying the flow rate of mass and type of dust by regulating the opening of the channel entrance, the velocity of air flow, resulting in that increasing this variation can increase the pressure drop Channel erosion becomes large when the concentration of dust increases in flow. At the time of testing if there is a buildup in the bottom of the dust channel the system exits longer (transport is not smooth). Then the dust attached to the blower blade will be a new problem for the system. So thus increasing the concentration of dust in the flow can affect the performance of the system.Keywords: Pneumatic Conveying, Dust (Particles), Pressure drop.

Abstract

Irrigation water flow can be utilized by installing a tool that is a waterwheel. Now it has been developed in the form of a water wheel pump, where this water pump serves to pump water without using electrical energy but with the help of irrigation flow. The aim of this research was know the characteristics of spiral pump and efficiency of spiral pump with waterwheel. The method used an experimental research that was test directly in the field. The waterwheel used a type of undershot flat blade 2 m diameter with 18 pieces of blade. The flexible hose was 38.1 mm diameter with a total coil of 4.55 windings, and an input diameter of 76.2 mm. The highest flow rate was 0.29 m3/s, the highest spiral pump discharge output was 0.27 l/s with a spiral pump efficiency of 1.54 % and the head was 3.38 m. The lowest flow rate was 0.11 m3/s, the lowest spiral pump discharge output was 0.15 l/s with a spiral pump efficiency of 0.81% and the head was 1.21 m. Therefore, the irrigation flow is influence of the rotation of shaft, the discharge of pump, efficiency and head spiral pump.Keyword: spiral pump, flow rate, head, efficiency.

Abstract

A pump as a turbine is a pump that is converted from a motor-driven pump to bring water, becomes driven by falling water and then turns the impeller and transformed it into a mechanical energy. Basically the Working Principle of the Pump as a Turbine is a pump that is in a state of being sedated by water at a certain height. The water will rotate the impeller, then the impeller is then passed to a generator that converts it to mechanical energy. Testing and designing the pump as a turbine aims to analyze the method of manufacture and processes for pumps designed by students. In Riau Province itself no one has used a pump as a replacement for turbines to generate electricity. Pump design as a turbine consists of searching the value of the initial variable, calculation and design. From testing the pump as a turbine that has been designed, the data shows that the largest potential hydro power is 3169 watts and potential pump power is 5003 watts. From the potential power that has been obtained it is known that the design of the pump as a turbine is feasible to use as a power plant.Keywords : Pump, Turbine, Picohydro,

Abstract

Cyclone Separator is a device that uses the principle of centrifugal force and low pressure due to turnaround to separate material based on different types and sizes. The phenomenon of arising in the cyclone separator installed in suction or press: collection efficiency decline marked by the large number of dust particles is wasted/fluttering giving rise to pollution of the surrounding area of the factory, the pressure drop It may cause loss of energy. This problem can affect the results and costs of production. This research aims to know the characteristics of the incoming velocity and mass flow rate of dust particles towards efficiency and a decrease in the pressure of the cyclone suction and press. By selecting the test type cyclone dust types vary the swift, the inflow velocity and mass flow rate of the cyclone dust. Testing takes place at room temperature. The test results provide that increased pressure drop in the inflow velocity and mass flow rate of the dust increases. Cyclone efficiency is increased when the density (mass flow rate of the increase in dust) and high flow cyclone mounted on suction position. On the contrary position press the efficiency decreases at a speed the flow of incoming cyclones enlarged. Abstract

The irrigation canal available throughout the Tarmland in Province of Riau. The irrigation system can be utilized as hydropower generation even if the possibility can only move a small-scale water turbine, but when made in large quantities would produce large amounts of energy. In this study tested the water turbine type undershot with installation of turbines in series on the flow of irrigation and compare them with the installation of turbine singly. From the testing that has been done the efficiency of turbines produced at the time of testing in series lower than in a single test, this is because at the time of testing the water flowing series obstructed by the second turbine, thus making the water flow is not smooth. The highest power generated main turbine installed in series is 153.66 Watt on water flow of 0.308 m3/ s, the highest power generated while the main turbine installed singly is 196.25 Watt on water flow of 0.308 m3/s.Keywords: Irrigation canal, Undershot Water Turbine, series Tested.

Abstract

The Archimedes turbine being studied is a type of water turbine for small-scale power plants where the screw water turbine is suitable for rivers in the Indonesian region because the turbine operation only requires a low turbine head, low price, and easy to apply. With the potential for the flow of Koboko waterfall, which is located in Kampar Regency, Riau Province, it is possible to install this screw-type water turbine. In the process of designing the thread of the Archimedes turbine, it is influenced by external parameters (outside turbine radius, turbine length, turbine slope, water flow rate, head) and internal parameters (radius in a turbine, ratio pitch, and the number of blades). The external parameters are determined by the location of the turbine placement while the internal parameters can be determined independently to get the maximum performance from the turbine. In this study, the parameters to be analyzed are internal parameters, namely the ratio pitch. There are two variations in the design of ratio the pitch (Pr) are: 1.5 Ro and 1.2 Ro. Tests are carried out to calculate how much efficiency the Archimedes turbine produces for each ratio pitch and compare each result. The result of this research is that the efficiency of the Archimedes turbine with a ratio of pitch 1.2 Ro is higher than that of a ratio of pitch 1.5 Ro with an efficiency value of 36.3668 %. This efficiency value is obtained at a water flow rate of 0.00009 m3/ s and a turbine tilt angle of 40˚. Keywords : Turbine screw, ratio pitch, head, discharge, angle of placement.
