Abstract

Abstract This study aims to analyze the content preferences of followers of the Instagram account @perpusnas.go.id by evaluating their preferences and engagement with the presented content. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative with an online survey approach. The instrument used is a questionnaire distributed to 100 active followers of the @perpusnas.go.id account, selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through Google Forms and analyzed descriptively to identify follower preferences and their level of engagement. The results show that educational content, library collections, and creative content are the most favored by followers. Although followers frequently view posts, the engagement level is relatively low, with 53% of respondents expressing a neutral attitude toward interaction with the content. Preference analysis reveals that informative and educational content aligns with the Literature Exhibits category in the theory of Zou et al., while promotional content and library activities reflect Library Showcasing. These findings suggest that increasing follower engagement can be achieved by enhancing visual quality and tailoring content to more specific follower interests. To improve engagement, the @perpusnas.go.id account needs to focus on enhancing the quality of visual design and presenting relevant and educational informative content in accordance with User Engagement theory. Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of fanaticism and religiosity on verbal aggression among K-pop fans, particularly EXO-L fans in Medan City. A quantitative survey approach was used, involving 55 respondents as the research sample. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed with SPSS version 25 to assess the relationships between fanaticism (X1), religiosity (X2), and verbal aggression (Y). The results indicate that fanaticism has a significant correlation with verbal aggression, with a correlation coefficient of 0.508, while religiosity also shows a significant correlation with a coefficient of 0.550. Furthermore, a significant combined relationship was found between fanaticism and religiosity with verbal aggression, with a correlation coefficient of 0.685. This study concludes that fanaticism toward K-pop idols can drive aggressive behaviors, including verbal aggression, especially when idols or fan communities are perceived as being attacked. Religiosity, on the other hand, has a dual role: it can mitigate aggression through spiritual self-control or trigger aggression when religious values are perceived to be threatened by K-pop culture.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the strategies adopted by traditional market traders, particularly the groceries traders at Pajak MMTC Medan City, in responding to the development of the digital market. The approach used in this research is qualitative with data collection methods through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies. The data analysis techniques used include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research findings show that although Sembako traders in MMTC face challenges from the digital market, they implement various strategies to survive, such as adapting to technology, improving service quality, and strengthening social relationships with consumers. Social interactions rich in local cultural values and mutually beneficial economic relationships are the main factors in maintaining their business continuity. This research is expected to provide deeper insights into the dynamics of traditional markets in the digital era and provide policy recommendations to support the survival of traditional market traders in big cities.

Abstract

This study seeks to examine traditional markets in their role of sustaining social, cultural, and economic interactions within the context of the digital era. This research method employs qualitative techniques, utilizing field observation and conducting interviews with informants, while also integrating theoretical considerations. The findings of this study indicate that numerous traders in the Central Market continue to operate in a traditional manner, resisting contemporary developments. This approach is driven by their desire to foster interaction with buyers, ensuring that customers receive the quality goods they expect. Some traders leverage advancements in the digital age by employing social media to promote their products, ensuring that a wide audience is aware of the high quality of their offerings and can view their stores directly.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of social change and consumer behavior on the Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) syndrome among Muslim students in urban settings. Social media and digitalization have influenced communication patterns and consumption behaviors, contributing to the rise of FoMO among younger generations. A quantitative survey was conducted involving 100 undergraduate Muslim students from the State Islamic University of North Sumatra, Medan. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Spearman correlation tests with SPSS version 22 to identify the relationships between social change, consumer behavior, and FoMO. The findings show significant relationships between social change and FoMO (r = 0.761), consumer behavior and FoMO (r = 0.866), and social change and consumer behavior (r = 0.693). Consumer behavior exerts a stronger influence on FoMO, suggesting that social media promotions and consumption trends drive impulsive buying and social anxiety. Muslim students face challenges in balancing modern social pressures with religious values. Strengthening self-regulation, family support, and digital literacy is essential to mitigate the negative effects of FoMO. Future research should expand the scope to include a broader population for a more comprehensive understanding. Abstrak Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh perubahan sosial dan perilaku konsumtif terhadap sindrom Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) di kalangan mahasiswa muslim di lingkungan perkotaan. Media sosial dan digitalisasi telah memengaruhi pola komunikasi dan konsumsi, yang berkontribusi pada peningkatan FoMO di kalangan generasi muda. Penelitian ini menggunakan survei kuantitatif dengan melibatkan 100 mahasiswa S1 muslim di Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara, Medan. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner terstruktur dan dianalisis menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman dengan bantuan SPSS versi 22 untuk mengidentifikasi hubungan antara perubahan sosial, perilaku konsumtif, dan FoMO. Penelitian menemukan hubungan signifikan antara perubahan sosial dan FoMO (r = 0,761), perilaku konsumtif dan FoMO (r = 0,866), serta perubahan sosial dan perilaku konsumtif (r = 0,693). Perilaku konsumtif memberikan pengaruh yang lebih kuat terhadap FoMO, menunjukkan bahwa promosi media sosial dan tren konsumsi mendorong perilaku impulsif serta kecemasan sosial. Mahasiswa muslim menghadapi tantangan dalam menyeimbangkan tekanan sosial modern dengan nilai-nilai agama. Regulasi diri, dukungan keluarga, dan literasi digital diperlukan untuk meminimalkan dampak negatif FoMO. Penelitian lanjutan dapat memperluas cakupan populasi untuk mendapatkan pemahaman yang lebih menyeluruh.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi sistem perkawinan budaya Arab Islam di Kota Medan dan mengidentifikasi permasalahan serta kekurangannya. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan fokus pada pengamatan mendalam. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini dapat menghasilkan analisis yang lebih mendalam terhadap suatu fenomena. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi wawancara dengan informan, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Teori pendukung dalam penelitian ini adalah teori perubahan sosial Karl Marx. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa budaya perkawinan masyarakat Arab di Medan menunjukkan keterkaitan erat dengan identitas dan tradisi mereka. Penggunaan marga atau fam tidak hanya sebagai penanda keluarga, tetapi juga menunjukkan hubungan kekerabatan yang kuat diantara mereka. yang mengindikasikan sistem patrilineal. Kalangan Syarif dan Syarifah, keturunan langsung Rasulullah SAW, masih banyak ditemui, mempertahankan nasab atau garis keturunan, Hal ini menjadi salah satu alasan mengapa masyarakat Arab di Kota Medan menganut sistem perkawinan endogamy. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa teori perubahan sosial Karl Marx telah terlaksana seiring waktu dan perkembangan zaman.

Abstract

Vandalism in school libraries hampers students' literacy and learning comfort. This study describes the forms of vandalism in the Library of SDN No. 100707 Batang Toru, analyzes the causal factors, and formulates prevention strategies. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through observation and interviews with librarians, principals, and teachers. The results showed vandalism in the form of graffiti, destruction and theft of books, and damage to library facilities. The causal factors include lack of supervision, low literacy awareness, minimal library ethics education, and the absence of strict sanctions. Prevention strategies include increasing supervision with on-duty teachers and CCTV, establishing a Library Ambassador program to increase student responsibility, and education through counseling, posters, and literacy competitions. This study contributes to the governance of school libraries in order to create a comfortable and safe learning environment, and can be applied in various schools to reduce vandalism and improve literacy culture. Abstrak Vandalisme di perpustakaan sekolah menghambat literasi siswa dan kenyamanan belajar. Penelitian ini menguraikan bentuk-bentuk vandalisme di Perpustakaan SDN No. 100707 Batang Toru, menganalisis faktor penyebabnya, dan merumuskan strategi pencegahan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara dengan pustakawan, kepala sekolah, dan guru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya vandalisme dalam bentuk coretan (grafiti), perusakan dan pencurian buku, serta kerusakan fasilitas perpustakaan. Faktor penyebabnya antara lain kurangnya pengawasan, rendahnya kesadaran literasi, minimnya pendidikan etika perpustakaan, dan tidak adanya sanksi yang tegas. Strategi pencegahan yang diusulkan antara lain meningkatkan pengawasan dengan menugaskan guru piket dan pemasangan CCTV, membentuk program Duta Perpustakaan untuk meningkatkan tanggung jawab siswa, serta edukasi melalui bimbingan, poster, dan lomba literasi. Penelitian ini berkontribusi dalam pengelolaan perpustakaan sekolah guna menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang nyaman dan aman, serta dapat diterapkan di berbagai sekolah untuk mengurangi vandalisme dan meningkatkan budaya literasi.

Abstract

Polemics related to the effectiveness of vaccinations are still happening today, this makes the community divided between two groups, namely the group who believes that vaccination can minimize cases of COVID-19 and the group who is afraid of the side effects caused by the vaccine due to the large amount of news circulating. among the public about the side effects of the covid-19 vaccine. The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions and decisions taken by the people of Denai Village, Medan Denai District, Medan City regarding circulating vaccination information. The theory used in this research is Collective Informative Sampling. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. This study found results that the public considered that vaccination was not a guarantee that a person would not be exposed to the corona virus, this was due to personal factors within them, namely the experiences they saw or felt both from the media and directly. People who are afraid of the side effects of vaccination prefer to use the services of making vaccine certificates without having to be vaccinated. Therefore, only 4 of the 11 interviewees had vaccinated, 5 of them preferred to use the service of making a vaccine certificate without having to be vaccinated, the other 3 were not willing to be vaccinated or to use the service of making the vaccine.

Abstract

Tarekat merupakan bagian integral dalam kehidupan sosial dan keagamaan masyarakat yang berkontribusi dalam membangun nilai spiritual serta interaksi sosial. Namun, penelitian mengenai dampak sosial tarekat terhadap masyarakat umum masih terbatas. Tarekat Samaniyah Wa Naqsabandiyah di Desa Sampali, Deli Serdang, memiliki dinamika sosial yang menarik, di mana pengikut tarekat aktif dalam kegiatan keagamaan dan sosial, tetapi tetap menghadapi resistensi dari sebagian masyarakat akibat perbedaan ajaran dan praktik ibadah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan sosial antara tarekat dan masyarakat umum serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhinya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Data diperoleh melalui observasi langsung, wawancara mendalam dengan 15 anggota tarekat aktif, 10 warga non-tarekat, dan beberapa tokoh agama setempat, serta dokumentasi tertulis. Informan dipilih berdasarkan keterlibatan mereka dalam aktivitas sosial dan keagamaan. Data dianalisis melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tarekat tidak hanya memiliki peran spiritual tetapi juga aktif dalam kegiatan sosial seperti pembangunan infrastruktur, pengajian, dan santunan sosial. Namun, masih terdapat resistensi dari masyarakat yang kurang memahami tarekat, yang memunculkan persepsi eksklusivitas. Sikap toleransi dan komunikasi terbuka berperan dalam menjaga harmoni sosial. Penelitian ini memberikan kebaruan dalam memahami interaksi sosial tarekat di tingkat komunitas lokal dan menyoroti pentingnya dialog untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat terhadap tarekat.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has changed the consumption patterns of people, including Muslim students, who are increasingly actively using e-commerce platforms. This study aims to analyze the influence of social behavior, e-commerce use, and Islamic consumption ethics on impulse buying behavior among Muslim students. The method used is a mixed method with a sequential explanatory approach, starting with a quantitative survey of 100 students of the Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara and continuing with in-depth interviews and focus group discussions to explore quantitative results qualitatively. Linear regression analysis showed that social behavior (r = 0.287, p < 0.001) and e-commerce use (r = 0.127, p < 0.001) had a significant influence on impulse buying. In contrast, Islamic consumption ethics did not show a statistically significant effect (r = 0.009, p = 0.358). The F test indicated that all three independent variables simultaneously had a significant effect on impulse buying. Qualitative findings reveal that, although Islamic values continue to be a consideration in the consumption of essential products, they are not the sole influence. Digital habitus and economic, social, cultural, and symbolic capital influence impulse buying behavior within the framework of Pierre Bourdieu's theory. The integration of technology and consumer culture in the digital era also influences spontaneous purchasing decisions, showing the duality between ethical values and consumptive desires. The impulse buying behavior of Muslim students is not only influenced by needs, but also by the social construction and digital lifestyle that shapes the identity of its consumers.
