Abstract

In the face of escalating climate change challenges, this study presents an innovative framework for local government adaptation strategies, emphasizing the integration of scientific research and policy-making. Through a comprehensive analysis of existing adaptation models and the incorporation of case studies from diverse geographical regions, the paper identifies key factors influencing effective local government responses to climate change. The proposed framework highlights the importance of community engagement, resource allocation, and sustainable development practices in enhancing resilience. By evaluating the effectiveness of various adaptation strategies, the study offers insights into best practices and potential pitfalls, aiming to guide local governments in developing tailored approaches to climate change challenges. The findings underscore the necessity for a dynamic, multi-stakeholder approach, bridging the gap between theoretical understanding and practical implementation of climate adaptation measures.

Abstract

Unmanaged waste can cause various problems of environmental damage including threatening tourism development. The current waste problem is quite worrying because it can have a direct impact on humans, such as the entry of plastic elements into the human body through fish or food exposed to microplastics. Aim: The waste bank around Lake Tondano tourism object was studied qualitatively with the aim of describing the waste bank management mechanism to be used as a model for developing a waste bank to support sustainable tourism development. Methodogy and Results: The research data was obtained through field research through observations and interviews with waste banks around the Tondano lake tourist attraction, in this case the Mapalus waste bank located in Papakelan Village. Conclusion, significance, and impact study: The results show that the current form of waste bank management on the shores of Lake Tondano is a waste bank that is purely managed by the community. The form of management is to collect waste from the community by first going through a sorting process. After sorting, organic waste is used as fertilizer and inorganic waste is made into valuable products and can be used as souvenirs for tourists. The waste bank program can reduce the increase in waste directly from the source. In addition, the waste bank can produce new products and provide benefits to the community. The waste bank is also a solution in the context of developing tourism on the coast of Lake Tondano.

Abstract

Aim: This research aims to find the perceptions of these stakeholders towards sustainable forest city branding in the relocation of the Ibu Kota Negara-IKN (National Capital City) of the Nusantara (archipelago) to Kalimantan through a study in Manado City as one of the buffer cities of the IKN Nusantara. Methodology and Results: The research method is descriptive and justified by correlational research method. The population in this study were stakeholders involved in urban life activities from various backgrounds. A sample of 30 respondents representing urban pentahelix stakeholders residing in the city of Manado was identified randomly and determined purposively. This research is conducted on the existing city pentahelix stakeholders and encourages the sustainability of development and the city environment itself. Conclusion, significance, and impact study: The results showed that pentahelix stakeholders' understanding of sustainable forest city branding is understood by all pentahelix-based stakeholders. At the next level, whether these stakeholders understand and agree to implement what the sustainable forest city program is, the level of agreement of the respondents is above 70 percent.  But then whether the content of sustainable forest city branding already exists, there is a decrease in understanding by these stakeholders. For this reason, intervention is needed in the form of socialization of more massive sustainable forest city branding so that it is understood by each pentahelix stakeholder so that collaboration can be improved with the hope of being able to improve the quality of the IKN itself and the surrounding cities of this IKN.

Abstract

In 2020 post-conflict regional head elections were held in Indonesia, including in North Sulawesi. Regulations concerning election explicitly state that each candidate is required to campaign and use environmentally friendly props. This study aims to analyze the perception of election organizers in North Sulawesi in implementing the 2020 election whether they have implemented an environmentally friendly concept. The research method is descriptive qualitative, with the determination of the sample is done by purposive sampling. In this case, the informant is the election organizer, the General Elections Commission (KPU), and the General Election Supervisory Agency of the Province and City Regencies in North Sulawesi. The results showed that the perception of the informants' environment was at the highest level, namely ecocentric, meaning that the concept of being environmentally friendly was an important part of election success. But this perception was not applied in the socialization material they carried out during the 2020 post-conflict regional head election in North Sulawesi. Another finding in the observation in the city of Manado, the provincial capital of all candidates, tends to carry out a campaign model that is not environmentally friendly. It concluded that applying the concept of environmentally friendly elections is still below the level of expectations. Further intervention is needed so that in the future, the elections that are carried out will also ensure that an environmentally friendly concept is implemented.
