Abstract

Abstract

In the era of generative artificial intelligence (AI), university students must not only access digital information but also evaluate, verify, manage, and use it ethically for academic purposes. This study examines the relationship between academic digital literacy and academic information-seeking behavior among students at AZ University and explores whether this relationship differs by length of study, represented by admission cohort. Using a quantitative cross-sectional design, data were collected from 246 respondents through a four-point Likert-scale questionnaire. The analysis included reliability testing, descriptive statistics, correlation, regression, cohort comparison, and moderation analysis. The results showed good reliability, with Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.817 and 0.806. Academic digital literacy was strongly and positively associated with academic information-seeking behavior, r = 0.639, p < 0.001, explaining 40.8% of its variance. A planned undergraduate comparison showed a stronger association among first-year students, highlighting the importance of early academic digital literacy support.

Abstract

This study explored the relationship between Indonesian language proficiency and information behavior patterns, specifically reliance on official information sources, among BIPA learners in Indonesia. Using an explanatory quantitative design, data were collected through an online survey from 92 respondents (prior and currently enrolled in BIPA programs from multiple universities in Indonesia). The instrument captured language proficiency, patterns of electronic resources use, perceived accessibility, and reliance on official information channels. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability testing, correlation analysis, and multiple regression using IBM SPSS Statistics 31. The findings indicate that while language proficiency is positively associated in reliance, it does not significantly predict reliance when controlling for passive accessibility. Instead, passive accessibility emerges as the strongest predictor. The research findings show that BIPA learners interact with the digital information environment, relying moderately on official information channels. This study emphasizes the importance of usability and clarity in shaping information behavior in multilingual digital settings. This study contributes to information behavior research by providing empirical insights into how non-native speakers engage with official information in multilingual digital environments. This study provides practical tools and insights for policymakers, educators, and information providers to enhance the accessibility and efficiency of government information systems for international users in Indonesia.

Abstract

The rapid increase in international tourist arrivals in Bali has intensified the complexity of immigration governance, particularly regarding the misuse of visit visas by foreign nationals. While immigration supervision has traditionally focused on administrative enforcement, evolving patterns of visa abuse involving unauthorized employment, nominee business practices, and hidden economic activities require a more proactive intelligence-based approach. This study aims to analyze the optimization of the immigration intelligence cycle in strengthening early-warning-based monitoring of foreign nationals in Bali Province. A qualitative research design was employed through semi-structured in-depth interviews with immigration officers, analysis of immigration regulations and policy documents, and examination of relevant media reports. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, supported by source triangulation to enhance credibility. The findings reveal that current immigration supervision remains predominantly reactive, relying on public reports and post-incident investigations rather than predictive threat detection. The study identifies an "iceberg phenomenon," where detected violations represent only a small proportion of actual irregular activities. To address this limitation, the research proposes an Early Warning Immigration Intelligence Model integrating multi-source intelligence, risk analysis, intelligence sharing, and preventive immigration actions within the intelligence cycle. The study concludes that strengthening early-warning-based immigration intelligence can improve proactive surveillance, enhance interagency coordination, and contribute to national resilience by preventing immigration-related threats before they escalate into broader economic, social, and security risks.

Abstract

Introduction. This study aims to explore information culture among visually impaired adolescents at SLB-A and investigate how they engage with information to foster self-resilience. Research Methods. The research method used was qualitative, with a cultural studies approach. Data was collected through interviews, observation, and document analysis from August-September 2025. Informants consisted of 15 students and three teachers. Data analysis. The data obtained were analyzed, which started with open coding by organizing fieldnotes; axial coding synthesized the data by identifying relationships between codes. Selective coding derived meaning within the context of information culture. Results. The process of constructing an information culture among visually impaired adolescents is built around a series of rituals and customs within a small world, with identities, values, and norms inherited from their environment. Habits of managing information are supported by assistive technology, bringing them from that small world to the outside world. Conclusion. The information culture constructed among visually impaired adolescents at SLB-A within the small world was conducted through habits or rituals implemented by teachers and parents, in the context of lower-middle-class families. Their information reception is influenced by stigma and pressure of non-inclusive infrastructure and marginalization, preventing the formation of a new awareness of identity, self-meaning, and resilience.

Abstract

Institutional repositories have a role in managing and disseminating scientific works, but the regulation of access to these works is not consistently enforced due to differing interpretations of access rules. Previous research has largely focused on access restrictions due to concerns about plagiarism. However, research on access policies and their implementation has been limited. The purpose of this study is to analyze, interpret, and provide recommendations regarding scientific access policies in institutional repositories. The research method employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Five informants were selected based on the criteria of being managers, administrators, and librarians responsible for uploading scholarly works. This study indicates that access policies must be standardized as clear guidelines and regulations that specify who has the authority and establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) to serve as a reference.
