Abstract

This study was motivated by the low interest and participation of students in Social Science learning (IPAS) on the topic “My Proud Region”, which was caused by the use of monotonous and less interactive teaching methods. The purpose of this study was to develop and examine the effectiveness of a game-based Truth or Dare media for fifth-grade students. This research employed the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects were fifth-grade students at an elementary school, totaling 25 students. Data collection methods and instruments included questionnaires and tests. Data analysis was conducted using quantitative, qualitative, and inferential descriptive techniques. The results showed that the developed media had a high level of validity, was practical for use by teachers and students, and effectively improved student engagement and material comprehension. The t-test results indicated that H₀ was rejected and H₁ accepted, leading to the conclusion that the game-based Truth or Dare media is effective for teaching the Social Science topic “My Proud Region” to fifth-grade students. The implication of this study is that simple game-based media can serve as an innovative, contextual, and enjoyable alternative for learning, particularly in Social Science subjects at the elementary school level.

Abstract

The prevalence of dental and oral health remains a problem in every province in Indonesia, including Bali. Preschool-aged children are one group vulnerable to dental and oral diseases because they generally still have behaviors that do not support dental health. Teeth in kindergarten children are generally still primary teeth (primary teeth), with tooth structure and morphology that are susceptible to caries. Data from the 2018 Bali provincial health risk (Riskesda) explained that the incidence of dental caries by age group 3-4 years was 41.8%. In Denpasar City, the 3-4 year age group suffered from dental caries as much as 14.8%. As age increases, the prevalence of dental caries also increases. The still low behavior of brushing teeth properly is one of the causes. Low tooth brushing behavior is likely due to a lack of knowledge, facilities and infrastructure for brushing teeth, such as ergonomic sinks. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ergonomic sinks on changes in students' tooth brushing behavior. The research method used pre- and post-observation of tooth-brushing behavior, namely behavior before and after education and practice of brushing teeth using ergonomic sinks in kindergarten. The results showed that after education and daily brushing habits using ergonomic sinks, most students' behavior changed to the adequate, good, and very good categories. This indicates a positive change in tooth-brushing behavior, from the majority of students initially categorized as needing guidance to the majority being categorized as good. The statistical test results showed a significant effect on student behavior change. The conclusion of this study is that education through the provision of ergonomic sinks has a significant effect on students' tooth-brushing behavior. It is recommended that kindergarten caregivers continue to provide education and remind children to brush their teeth at least twice a day.

Abstract

This research was motivated by a managerial paradox at SD No 5 Kapal, where strong visionary and participative leadership had not been accompanied by adequate administrative transparency. The study aimed to analyze and formulate transparency reconstruction strategies to synchronize the principal's vision with accountability within the School-Based Management (SBM) framework. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through structured observation and documentation studies, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that visionary leadership and participative decision-making are in the "very good" category (score 4), while the transparency aspect remains in the "fair" category (score 2). This gap hinders the effectiveness of school autonomy and risks decreasing stakeholder trust. Reconstruction through report digitalization and public information disclosure is a crucial solution. In conclusion, synchronization between a progressive vision and accountability is absolutely necessary to create professional and credible school governance. Keywords: accountability, SBM, transparency, visionary leadership.

Abstract

This study originated from the critical need to evaluate school principal leadership within the School-Based Management (SBM) framework. The investigation focused on the prevailing gap between structured administrative management and genuine staff engagement. The primary objective was to analyze the current leadership dynamics at SD 3 Buduk and identify strategic paths toward an ideal management model. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing systematic observations across four fundamental leadership pillars. The findings reveal a striking contrast in leadership performance. While visionary and transparency indicators exhibit excellent standards, participatory decision-making remains at a mediocre level. This evidence suggests that an instructive leadership style persists despite high levels of information openness. Consequently, achieving ideal school management necessitates a shift toward collective collaboration. It is essential for the principal to foster deliberative dialogue, ensuring that systemic efficiency harmonizes with meaningful staff involvement to reach democratic educational excellence. Keywords: leadership, school-based management, visionary, participation, transparency.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the implementation of School-Based Management (SBM) in improving the quality of education at SD Negeri 3 Sesetan. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method to obtain an in-depth understanding of the implementation of SBM in the school environment. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation studies involving Ketut Suci Antari, S.Pd., one of the teachers at SD Negeri 3 Sesetan, as the main informant. The findings revealed that the implementation of SBM at SD Negeri 3 Sesetan has been carried out effectively and systematically since the school was established. The implementation of SBM has positively impacted the quality of learning, school management effectiveness, resource efficiency, and teacher productivity. School programs are designed based on the school’s vision and mission and adjusted to students’ needs and environmental conditions. Stakeholder involvement, including principals, teachers, parents, the community, and the government, also plays an important role in supporting the success of SBM implementation. Monitoring and evaluation activities are conducted regularly to improve and sustain school programs. However, the school still faces challenges related to funding limitations in supporting all flagship programs optimally. Based on the SWOT analysis, the school’s strengths lie in its flagship programs and strong stakeholder synergy, while funding remains the main weakness. Overall, the implementation of SBM at SD Negeri 3 Sesetan has proven effective in improving educational quality and creating a more participatory, efficient, and sustainable school management system. Abstract

This study investigated the resilience mechanisms of primary schools in the international tourism area of Jalan Pantai Berawa, Bali, in mitigating global cultural disruption. The primary issue concerned the vulnerability of student character to permissive external values and the gap between school cultural practices and administrative formality. This research aimed to formulate a resilient student management model through the integration of School-Based Management (SBM) and local wisdom. Employing a qualitative descriptive case study approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and document studies at SD No. 3 Tibubeneng. The results show that the habituation of the 5S Culture effectively functions as a cultural filter that strengthens students' character immunity. However, a weakness in legality is found due to the absence of written disciplinary documents. This study concludes by recommending the "Cultural-Administrative Resilience Model" as a strategic solution through the synchronization of local values into formal school regulations to ensure institutional accountability and sustainability. Keywords: School-Based Management, Organizational Resilience, Local Wisdom, Cultural Disruption, Student Management.
