Abstract

Environmental degradation as indicated by the depletion of resources and the destruction of natural habitats is the impact of human-nature relationship. Furthermore, forest fires, illegal logging, gold mining and other related activities are forms of forest destruction that can be claimed to be more intense lately. Therefore, an initial measure should be carried out including identifying stakeholders’ responses toward the issues and assessment on the level of destruction. This study aims to examine stakeholders’ responses toward forest destruction in Tirtanagaya Village, Bolano Lambunu Sub-district, Parigi Moutong Regency. The techniques of data collection were observation and in-depth interview. Several key informants were selected for the interview in order to investigate their responses toward forest destruction in the study site. It used qualitative descriptive method for data analysis. In overall, the finding indicates that the responses of stakeholders in relation with forest destruction issues are relatively poor. It is evidenced by their low participation and lack of real actions to promote forest preservation. It will have a detrimental impact on the joint effort for overcoming the problems of forest destruction in Tirtanagaya Village.

Abstract

The participation is involvement society as active that is considered as one of the key for the approach that very promise in management forest production in development forest plants program. The government have to eforts the construction forest plants either in the forest area or in area the society property, that is more emphasize for the society participation aspect in it. The research purpose to know the society participation level and the elements relation that influence the society participation for the forest production management in development forest plants program. This research is done for three month begin april until june 2016. The location of research in sigimpu village in palolo subdistrict sigi regency.The method is used in this research, used spearmank rank correlation test. The result of this research that the society participation level for planning phase in development forest plants activity is low while for implementation phase is high. The factors infivence the participation of society for the forest plant development seen by age, education level and income level. The relation between factors influence the participation of society for every phase of development of forest plants activity, that is age factor with every phase of development of forest plants is valueable positive that pointed out of the same direction system, education level is pointed out of the same direction system too. For planning and implementation phase is pointed out of the same direction system, too.

Abstract

This study aims to determine stakeholder interests in community empowerment programs in Namo Village Forest, Kulawi District. This study uses a qualitative method, sampling is done by purposive sampling the number of respondents 8. The analysis used is the analysis of influence and importance. The results showed that the level of influence and interests of stakeholders in community empowerment in Namo Village Forest is very diverse, which can be classified as stakeholders who are in the position of Key Player, Subject, Crowd and Context Setter. The stakeholders are Namo Village Forest Management Institute (LPHD), Central Sulawesi Provincial Forestry Service (DISHUT), HL Palu-Poso BPDAS, Kulawi Forest Management Unit (KPH), Kulawi Community and Village Empowerment Office (DPMD) Sigi, IMUNITAS (NGO), The Jembata Foundation (NGO) and the Namo.No Adat Institution. Stakeholders who play a role in empowerment in the Namo Village Forest are stakeholders from government agencies, private agencies and community leaders. The pattern of stakeholder relationships that occur in the community empowerment program in Namo Village Forest, there are three (3) patterns of stakeholder relationship criteria, namely communication, coordination and cooperation.

Abstract

Sub Watershed of Miu is located in the district of Sigi with an area of 70,494.5 ha, part of area has become a critical area. Community manage the land solely because of economic factors to meet the needs of daily life without thinking about how to manage the land to remain productive and may be used in a relatively long time. Programs of Strengthening Community-Based Forest and Watershed management (SCBFWM) is a community development programs around the sub watershed Miu that aims to reduce the rate of degradation, and improve watershed function. This study aim to assess how the form community development programs is implemented and mentoring methods and constraints faced in the implementation of community development activities in the SCBFWM program. This research was conducted in the upper sub-watershed of Miu, in Boladangko Village, Sub-District of Kulawi, District of Sigi, Central Sulawesi Province for two months (February to April 2014) using surveys and interviews. The interview guide addressed to the 15 respondents consisting of activity mentor (field facilitators), the community member and members of farmer groups. Complement information and confirmation of data from respondents using snowball sampling method. Research support tools such as tape recorders and cameras as well as stationery. The results showed that the pattern of community development programs implemented SCBFWM include the establishment of farmer groups, farmer groups training in self-reliance, sustainable socialization, rehabilitation, development and improvement of farming institutional structures and assistance to farmer group. Mentoring method which is implemented by SCBFWM emphasis change in mindset and a change of activity-based economic improvement of farmers. The main obstacle faced SCBFWM is the lack of funding support from various parties in the implementation of community development programs and lack of community participation in the monthly meetings.

Abstract

Forest production area is a forest area which its main function is for production purpose in order to obtain the maximum economic benefits considering the natural preservation of environmental functions and the existence of the forest production area itself. This study aimed to determine the forms of utilization of forest productions which were done by the people in Malino Village, Soyo Jaya District, North Morowali Regency. The total population in the study area consisted of 130 households so that the number of samples in this study was 25% (32 people) of the total population. The purposive sampling was chosen purposively. This study was conducted in 3 months, starting from January to March 2016 in Malino Village, Soyo Jaya District, North Morowali Regency. The data analysis used in this research was descriptive analysis. The results showed that the people of Malino Village used the land for gardening and farming. Plants consisted of corn, candlenut, chocolate, red beans, cloves, avocadoes, durians, and vegetables. The most used forest product was candlenut (68.75%), where the utilization of candlenuts was done 4 times a year. In addition, the community also used rattan (12.50%), in which the data showed that each person used ± 30-40 kg of raw rattan, and harvesting was done 6 times a year. Meanwhile, people who utilized resin indicated low category of (6.25%), and the result was that each person utilized ± 15-20 kg. This indicated that most people utilized non-timber forest products
