This research is a quasi-experimental research with a two group pretest-posttest research design. The population in this study amounted to 12 Karateka Dojo Wadokai, Gorontalo Province, all of which were samples in this study, then divided into two groups, namely the ankle weight and rubber resistance groups with six samples taken at random in each group. The research instrument used Mawashi Geri kicks by kicking as many targets as possible using the strongest leg for 30 seconds. As a result, this study found that exercise using ankle weights had an average increase of 21% greater than rubber resistance which only had an average percentage of 19%. This study concludes that exercise using ankle weights and rubber resistance can increase Mawashi Geri's kick speed for Karateka Dojo Wadokai, Gorontalo Province.

Abstract

The incidence of chronic diseases continues to increase across the country as a result of transformation, demographics, and epidemiological. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the chronic diseases that not only causes premature death worldwide but also causes many other complications. The World Health Organization (WHO) predicts that the number of deaths associated with DM will be enhanced by 2030. This quantitative research used a Cross-Sectional research design. The population and the sample in this study were 39 patients suffering from type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in the Puskesmas Lemito working area from January to August 2024, which was taken using the total sampling technique. This study used a questionnaire as an instrument. The data in this study was analyzed using the Fisher exact test. The analysis obtained a p-value = 0.000, which indicated a relationship between health literacy related to physical activity and blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in the UPTD Lemito working area, Pohuwato Regency.

Abstract

Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease that, if not managed properly, will increase the occurrence of complications. The risk of disease complications can be exacerbated by the non-compliance of DM patients in controlling blood sugar, so intervention is needed in controlling blood sugar in the form of diabetic gymnastics intervention. This research used a quantitative design with the Quasi Experiment method including a Pretest-Posttest Control Group design. The population was all people suffering from type II DM without complications, and the sampling technique used was the Simple Random Sampling technique with a total of 59 samples. The instrument consisted of the questionnaire and paired t-test, obtained a value of 0.043 (<0.05) in the intervention group, which means that there is an effect of diabetic gymnastics on reducing blood sugar levels during diabetes mellitus patients in the work area of the UPTD Puskesmas Patilanggio Subdistrict, Puhuwato Regency, and 0.161 (>0.05) in the control group which means there is no effect of it. Puskesmas can use this research in preventive efforts through diabetic gymnastics and as a source of information for patients to maintain diabetes control.

Abstract

Pain is still the main problem for patients being treated in the treatment room. To overcome pain, analgesic drugs are often given. Even though the first step to help reduce pain can be to use non-pharmacological therapy. This study aims to see effect of non pharmacological therapy in reducing patient pain levels. The type of research is a quasi experiment with a one-group pre-test and post-test design approach. Sampling using accidental sampling technique over a period of 1 month obtained 50 respondents who matched the characteristics of the respondents in the research. Overall non- pharmacological therapy (beson relaxation, murotal, guide imagery, zikr, warm compresses, and hypnosis techniques) can reduce pain intensity in respondents who experience pain. Pain management in patients does not always involve immediate administration of medication. Non-pharmacological measures must always be prioritized to treat pain. Non-pharmacological therapy has been proven to be able to overcome or reduce pain levels.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine the effect of isotonic drinks on students' heart rates. This experimental research relied on a randomized pretest–posttest control group design; it consisted of one control group (t1) and one treatment group (t2). All participants were treated with the same exercise protocol including endurance training specifically for the branches of pencak silat (exercise straight kick techniques, scythe while hitting). The control group consumed mineral water, while the treatment group was provided with an isotonic drink after exercise. Following the treatment phase was the calculation of participants' heart rates for one minute; this process was replicated three times: before the exercise (T1), 60 to 90 minutes after the exercises (T2), and 10 minutes after the exercise interval (T3). All data were analyzed using a T-test. The results revealed that the initial heart rates of the control and treatment groups were 72.6 ± 10.36 and 66.3 ± 8.60, respectively.  In other words, there were no differences between the two groups. The initial heart rates of the control group control and treatment group after the exercise was 159.2 ± 10.48 and 149.0 ± 8.59, respectively. According to the t-test results, there was a difference (p < 0.05) in the heart rates of the control group and treatment group after the exercises. The initial heart rates of the control group control and treatment group after the exercise interval was 76.2 ± 11.0 and 65.9 ± 8.62, respectively. The t-test results reported a difference (p < 0.05) in the heart rates of the control group and treatment group after the exercise interval of 10 minutes. Isotonic drinks significantly to heart rates recovery after pencak silat exercise of female students.

Abstract

Background: Athlete nutrition can indirectly improve athlete performance. One of the efforts to improve athlete nutrition is by providing additional food such as Tiliaya. Tiliaya is a traditional Gorontalo food that is believed to increase stamina, because it has high calories. This study aims to increase the physical activity of athletes through the intervention of reformulated tiliaya products. Method: This study used 20 respondents of Gorontalo Student Training and Education Program (STEP) Taekwondo athletes. The intervention was carried out for 3 months with the parameters measured, namely nutritional status based on body mass index, measurement of cholesterol levels (Cholesterol OxidasePhenol Aminophenazone/CHOD-PAP) and VO2max, before and after the intervention. Result: The results of the athlete's blood cholesterol test showed that there were 75.00% in the normal category and 25.00% in the high category. The results of T-Test of Cholesterol level and VO2Max significant for treatment group and not significant for control group. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that the intervention of a reformulated food supplement, Tiliaya (using fiber creme as a substitute for coconut milk), has a significant impact on improving the physical fitness of STEP taekwondo athletes in Gorontalo, particularly by reducing total cholesterol levels and enhancing VO2max capacity
