Abstract

This study aims to map household housing conditions in West Java using the Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) approach. West Java, as the most populous province in Indonesia, faces significant challenges regarding housing inequalities, infrastructure access, and socio-economic disparities between urban and rural areas. These disparities necessitate a comprehensive and systematic approach to identify vulnerable regions and inform targeted policy interventions. Using data from the 2023 National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas), this study analyzes five main groups of variables: basic needs, housing facilities and ownership, socio-economic status, access to services and infrastructure, and household demographics and welfare. The Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) technique is employed due to its capability to reduce complex, high-dimensional data into a two-dimensional representation, allowing clearer visualization of regional disparities and interrelationships among variables. MDS also facilitates robust model evaluation, ensuring high-quality mapping results. The MDS results reveal significant variations in household conditions, with urban areas such as Bekasi and Depok City showing better infrastructure access and welfare outcomes compared to rural areas like Cirebon and Sukabumi District. Evaluation of the MDS model indicates excellent performance, with STRESS values ranging from 0.042 to 0.083 and RSQ values between 0.993 and 0.999, demonstrating high accuracy. This study addresses a research gap where few studies have comprehensively mapped housing inequalities in large, diverse regions like West Java using advanced multidimensional techniques. The findings emphasize the importance of policies focusing on infrastructure development and equitable distribution of social assistance in underdeveloped regions to reduce regional disparities.

Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to analyze school accreditation data in West Java using clustering methods: K-Means, K-Medoids, and Fuzzy C-Means, to identify patterns and groups of schools based on similar characteristics. K-Means, known for its simplicity, suggests an optimal two-cluster solution based on silhouette values but employs three clusters for detailed analysis. K-Medoids, noted for its robustness against outliers, achieves the best clustering with a lowest Davies-Bouldin Index (DBI) of 0.8 and the highest Silhouette Information (SI) value of 0.46. Fuzzy C-Means, which assigns membership degrees to each data point across clusters, performs reasonably well with a DBI of 0.87 and an SI value of 0.40, while K-Means shows the highest DBI of 0.9 and the lowest SI value of 0.39. The findings highlight K-Medoids as the superior method for clustering. Regions with lower educational quality, such as Bekasi and Cianjur regions, require priority interventions, whereas areas with better quality, like Bandung and Bekasi regions, can serve as models. Data-driven approaches, inter-regional collaboration, and continuous monitoring and evaluation are recommended to optimize educational policies and enhance overall educational quality in West Java.

Abstract

This research discussed the effect of power orientation toward moral development. This research used The Boy in the Striped Pajamas as the object of study. There are two objectives of this research; 1) to find the forms of power orientation and, 2) to describe the effect of power orientation toward moral development. This research used literary sociology with a focus on power orientation by French and Raven as well as moral development by Kohlberg. Based on the research findings, the researcher identified 5 forms of power orientation, namely: coercive power, legitimate power, expert power, referent power, and finally reward power. Then, through The Effect of Power Orientation toward Moral Development. Bruno grew up in a Nazi environment where power orientation was very dominant, and his father, as the officer in charge of the camp, considered Jews to be the enemy. Bruno did not accept this view. His friendship with Shmuel, the boy in the camp who wears striped pajamas, demonstrates a moral development separate from the influence of Nazi power. It shows that moral development can continue to grow in openness and empathy despite the pressure of a repressive power structure.

Abstract

The bemban plant (Donax canniformis) has important meaning for the community in Lampanah Tunong Village, Indrapuri District, Aceh Besar Regency. Together with 4 (four) other villages around it, this village has become a center for woven bemban crafts with production products that are typical superior products for Aceh Besar Regency. Apart from supporting the development of the tourism sector and creative industry, this woven bemban craft product has been able to improve the economy and welfare of the local community. The lack of implementation of the concept of sustainable development (sustainable development) has resulted in vulnerability to the continuity of this highly prospective business. The provision of raw materials that completely relies on availability in nature has resulted in the increasingly extinct population of burden plants. The rate of handicraft production which is not commensurate with the ability of natural plant reproduction has caused the community to have to bring in raw materials from outside the village. This of course has an impact on increasing production costs and reducing opportunities for profits. Without systematic and strategic efforts, it is feared that availability from outside the village will also threaten its sustainability. To overcome this, the Service Team offers a concrete solution in the form of domestication efforts by transforming wild bemban plants into cultivated bemban plants through the introduction of cultivation techniques, nurseries and cultivation demonstration plots as well as improving and developing marketing techniques through product diversification and the use of digital marketing. The methods used include: counseling/tutorials and direct practice in the field with stages consisting of: preparation, coordination, implementation, coaching, and trials/evaluation. Through this service activity, it is hoped that the sustainability of the bemban woven craft business will be realized (SDGs 11), increase economic growth (SDGs 8), reduce poverty (SDGs 1) and improve the welfare (SDGs 3) of the community, especially partner craftsmen (SDGs 17).

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to address methodological challenges in evaluating biclustering algorithms under simultaneous collinearity and overlap, which often co-occur in real world multivariate data but are rarely analyzed simultaneously. This research highlights the importance of understanding how these structural challenges affect local pattern detection in data mining applications. Methods: A simulation study was conducted using synthetic matrices embedded with two constant biclusters under 15 combinations of collinearity levels (ρ = 0.3,0.6,0.9) and overlap degrees (none, small, large). Each scenario was replicated 100 times. Performance was assessed using the Liu and Wang Index (ILW), while a three-way ANOVA tested the effects of algorithm type, collinearity, and overlap. Result: Spectral Biclustering maintained stable ILW scores despite increasing collinearity, while CC performed better in low-overlap scenarios but was more sensitive to collinearity. Under high collinearity and large overlap, both algorithms experienced notable degradation. The ANOVA confirmed all main effects and interactions were significant (p < 0.001). Novelty: This study contributes empirical evidence regarding the influence of interacting structural characteristics on biclustering performance. The results deliver practical insights for selecting suitable algorithms and emphasize the potential advantages of hybrid approaches that integrate the stability of spectral methods with the adaptability of residual-based techniques.

Abstract

Sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt.) is the third largest horticulture group in Indonesia. However, the import rate is still high in Indonesia due to low domestic production. Fertilization and the use of superior varieties are efforts to increase production. However, inorganic fertilizers still dominate maize cultivation. As a result, microorganisms that should be an essential unit in the availability of plant nutrients are threatened. This research was conducted to find out the effect of eco enzyme application and several varieties of sweet corn on increasing sugar content and vitamin C in the field. In this research was used a split plot randomized group design (RGD) with 2 factors and 3 times repetition. The main plot factor in this research was 4 varieties and the subplot factor was 3 levels of eco enzyme concentration. As the results of the research is the varieties of sweet corn plants gave a significant effect on several parameters of observation. Bonanza variety produced better Total Dissolved Solids, while Paragon variety produced better growth and vitamin C characteristics. The concentration of eco enzyme didn’t give an effect on all parameters. Concentration of eco enzyme 20 mI I-1 of water gave better growth characteristics and cob weight. The concentration of eco-enzyme and sweet corn varieties has a most significant interaction on the number of cobs per plot. The best combination was Paragon variety and eco enzyme concentration of 10 mI I-1 of water which made more cobs per plot.
