Abstract

This research examines how self-regulated learning strategies influence stress levels, motivation, and time management among working graduate students, specifically regarding their writing abilities. The investigation addresses ongoing debates about whether employment helps or hinders academic success for graduate students. A qualitative approach was employed using open-ended questionnaires distributed to English Education graduate students working full-time or part-time. This method enabled efficient data collection within a limited timeframe while maintaining depth of insight. The smaller sample size typical of qualitative research allowed for detailed analysis of participant experiences and strategies. With the majority of graduate students now balancing employment alongside their studies, understanding effective learning strategies becomes increasingly crucial. Previous research presents conflicting findings: some studies suggest that working negatively impacts academic performance, while others demonstrate that employed students can maintain high achievement levels through strategic approaches to learning. Results support that employed graduate students can excel academically when implementing effective self-regulated learning techniques. Participants demonstrated exceptional writing performance, evidenced by their published scholarly articles. These outcomes suggest that strategic time management, motivation maintenance, and stress reduction techniques enable working students to produce high-quality academic work. The findings challenge assumptions about employment as a barrier to academic excellence. Instead, they highlight how purposeful learning strategies can help graduate students successfully navigate the dual demands of work and academic responsibilities, particularly in writing-intensive disciplines. This research contributes valuable insights for supporting the growing population of employed graduate students.

Abstract

The Era 5.0 marks a paradigm shift in economic development that places humans at the center of innovation, with advanced technology as the primary driver. In the Indonesian context, the integration of technology and local wisdom serves as a crucial strategy for fostering sustainable and inclusive economic growth. This study aims to analyze how the application of digital technology can align with the values, practices, and traditional knowledge deeply rooted in society. The research employs literature review and qualitative methods to examine various successful integration models in the agriculture, tourism, and creative industry sectors. Data analysis was conducted through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the integration of technology and local wisdom in the Era 5.0 is an essential strategy for building an advanced Indonesian economy while remaining rooted in cultural identity. Technology accelerates processes, enhances efficiency, and expands access to global markets, while local wisdom ensures sustainability and social cohesion. The synergy between the two has the potential to promote inclusive growth, reduce inequality, preserve cultural heritage, and create employment opportunities. Abstract

This study explores senior high school students’ experiences and perceptions of using Wordwall, a gamified learning platform, in writing descriptive texts in an Indonesian EFL classroom. Many learners face challenges such as limited vocabulary, low motivation, and writing anxiety. To understand how students experience the use of Wordwall, a qualitative descriptive design with a phenomenological approach was employed. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, classroom observations, and analysis of student writing samples. Thematic analysis revealed that Wordwall helped students improve vocabulary, boost motivation, and reduce anxiety by offering engaging, interactive tasks like quizzes and instant feedback. Students described their learning process as more enjoyable and confidence-building. Despite minor technical issues, most participants found Wordwall beneficial in supporting their writing development. These findings highlight the value of gamified tools in enhancing student engagement and confidence in EFL writing classes. The study provides practical insights for educators seeking to integrate meaningful digital tools into language instruction.

Abstract

Extensive reading is an effective approach to learning reading. However, this approach is sometimes criticized since it is difficult to measure the improvements in learners’ reading skills. This is due to the primary objective of extensive reading being "reading for pleasure." A refreshment is needed regarding the learning process by adding some supplements to the learning activities. This paper proposes a fresh perspective on implementing an extensive reading project by incorporating the concepts of hyperlearning and cultural context-based reading. Hyperlearning is leveraging technology to improve the reading experience while also solidifying a profound value whilst the cultural context involves selecting texts that are relevant to the interests or background of the learner. By incorporating this approach into their learning experience, learners can improve their language skills while enjoying a more dynamic and personalized learning experience. In this way, learners will cultivate learning habits that are called "hyperlearners".
