Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the population dynamics of cuurisi fish (Nemipterus hexodon) in the waters of Flores Sea, the parameters are cohort, growth parameters, and mortality parameters . This study took place between January and February of 2023. This study collected 1,214 samples. The data used is direct data in the field (primary data) by measuring the total length of cuurisi fish. Sampling was carried out using a stratified random sampling method. The Battacharya method using for analyze cohort, growth parameters (L? and K) were estimated using software electronic length frequency analysis (ELEFAN-I) contained in the FISAT-II application. Natural mortality (M) involves the empirical Pauly equation; total mortality (Z), fishing mortality (F), and exploitation rate (E) involve the Beverton and Holt equations. FISAT-II and Microsoft Excel were used to analyze the data. The results showed that the cuurisi fish samples had a total length range of 11–27 cm and consisted of three cohorts. The analysis results of L?, K, and t0 are 33.9 cm, 0.4 per year, and -0.398 years, respectively. The Z, M, and F estimates are 3.13; 096; and 2.17 per year, respectively. Exploitation rate 0.69; the actual and maximum Y/R’ were 0.0233 and 0.0241 g/recruitment, respectively. cuurisi fish in the waters of Flores Sea have slow growth, mortality is dominated by fishing activities, and have experienced overfishing.

Abstract

Lake Buaya is one of the lakes located in the central part of South Sulawesi. Information about ichthyofauna biodiversity in this lake does not yet exist. Therefore, this study was conducted to analyze species composition, relative abundance, diversity index, evenness index, and dominance index, fish caught in the waters of Lake Buaya. This research was conducted in March to May 2019. Sampling was carried out four times over two months using a fishing gear with a mesh size of 2 inches. Sample analysis was carried out at the Fisheries Biology Laboratory, Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries, Hasanuddin University. During the study 328 fish were found that belong to 12 species and 9 families. The highest abundance of individuals and relative fish abundance was found in Trichopodus pectoralis (snakeskin gourami). The range of diversity index, evenness index, and dominance index were 2,11–2,35, 0,85–0,95, and 0,10–0,15, respectively.

Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate the sex ratio and the first gonadal maturity size of mackerel fish(Decapterus macrosomas Bleeker 1841). Samples were taken from June to October 2013 in the sub-district ofPanyula, District of East Riattang, in Bone region. Sample analysis was conducted at the Fisheries biologylaboratory, Department of Fisheries, Hasanuddin University, Makassar. Sex ratio was analyzed by using chiquadrat-testwhereas the first gonadal maturity size was obtained from the first size of the third-gonadal-maturitystage. There were 782 fish collected with male to female ratio 1,02:1,00. Statistically, the sex ratio from Bone waterswas 1:1, in other words, it is still in a balance condition. The male fish reached gonadal maturity stage at the size of195 mm, whereas the female at 210 mm. Keywords: sex ratio, gonadal maturity size, Mackarel fish, Bone strait.

Abstract

his research was conducted in November to December 2012 which aimed to estimate thepopulation dynamic of mackerel fish through their age-group, growth, mortality, and yield perrecruitment. Samples were taken from the waters of sub district of Panyula, in the district of EastTanete Riatang, in Bone Region. Age-group was measured using Bhattacharya method with thehelp of Fish Stock Assessment Tools II (FISAT II) software. Growth and natural mortality weremeasured by applying the equations of Von Bertalanffy and Empiris Pauly (respectively). Whereastotal mortality as well as yield per recruitment were estimated by applying Beverton and Holdequation; and catch mortality was estimated by applying the equation of Z=F+M. Results showedthe average total length of 849 mackarel fish that was 121-295 mm. They were divided into 4groups with 306.35 mm asymptotic length, 0,33 growth rate coefficient and theoritical age of 0.0294year. Natural mortality rate, total and catch mortality, and exploitation rate were 0.3672per year; 2,4358 per year, 2,0687 per year and 0.8493 (respectively). This indicated that an overcatch had occurred due to the higher catch mortality compared to the natural mortality as well asthe yield per recruitment, i.e. 0.0865 gram/recruitment. Keywords : Population dynamic, mackerel fish, Bone Strait.

Abstract

White-spotted spinefoot, Siganus canalicullatus (Park, 1797) is one of the most economically importantherbivorous fish captured along the coast of Selayar Islands. The present work was undertaken to assess thelength-weight relationship and Fulton's K condition factors of this fish caught in the waters of the northern coastof Selayar Islands District. Those parameters were calculated separately for both sexes. A total of 498specimens of S. canaliculatus consisting of 265 males and 233 females were randomly collected on a monthlybasis between January and June 2015 from local fishermen using gill nets of various mesh size in the coastalwaters of Desa Barat Lambongan, Kecamatan Bontomatene, northern part of Selayar Islands District. The fishwere brought to the laboratory and, after washing, their total length (L) was measured to the nearest 1 mm usinga fish measuring board and the total body weight (W) was recorded to the nearest 0.01 g using an electronicbalance. Each fish was then cut open and the sex were recorded. The length-weight relationships of males andfemales can be expressed as log W = –4.4220 + 2.7772 log L for males, indicated hypoallometric growthpattern; and log W = –4.6840 + 2.9022 log L for females, indicated isometric growth pattern. Overall, conditionfactor values were higher in males than in females. Keywords: condition factor, length-weight relationship, Selayar Islands District, Siganus canaliculatus, whitespottedspinefoot

Abstract

The skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) resource in Bone bay has long been exploited, but information about the sustainable potential of this fish resource in Bone bay waters is still very limited. The aim of this research is to estimate potential of fish resources that include catch per unit effort (CPUE ), the maximum sustainable yield (MSY), optimum effort, exploitation rate and total allowable catch (TAC) of skipjack tuna in the waters of Bone bay. This study uses time series data, namely annual data from the fisheries statistics report at Marine and Fisheries Service, South Sulawesi Province from 2006-2015. The method used to estimate the potential of fish resources in this study is the surplus production method with the Schaefer model. The results showed that the average production and standard efforts in the 10-year period were 14689.7 tons and 914 standard units respectively. The estimation results obtained MSY and optimum effort per year are 22561.4 tons and 1730 standard units, and allowed catches (TAC) of 18049.2 tons per year. The level of exploitation of skipjack tuna resources in the waters of Bone Bay does not over exploited every year except in 2017.Keywords: potential of fish resources, skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis), MSY, TAC, Bone bay

Abstract

This study aims to estimate the potential of fish resources which include catch per unit effort (CPUE), Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY), optimum efforts, exploitation rates and total allowable catch (TAC) of Rabbitfish in Makassar waters. This study uses time-series data, namely annual data from the fisheries statistics report at the Office of Marine and Fisheries Service, South Sulawesi Province from 2007 until. 2016. The method used to predict fish resource potential in the study is the Surplus Production method referring to the Schaefer model. The results of the study showed that the average production and standard efforts in the 10-year period were 78.8 tons per year and 1304 standard units per year respectively. The estimation results obtained by MSY and the optimum efforts of rabbitfish per year were 104 tons and 1142 standard units, respectively and total allowable catches (TAC) are 82.979 tons per year. The level of utilization of rabbitfish resources in Makassar waters in the last three years has been overexploitation.
