Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret hingga bulan Mei 2023 di PT Talaga Unggas Bahagia, Majalengka. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh fermentasi feses ayam layer sebagai media tumbuh maggot terhadap pertumbuhan dan waktu mencapai prepupa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan 3 perlakuan yaitu feses tanpa perlakuan (P1), feses difermentasi 2% ekoenzim (P2), dan feses difermentasi 0,25% Stardec (P3) dengan 6 ulangan. Data hasil perlakuan diuji secara statistik menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dan dianalisis menggunakan analisis ragam (ANOVA) dan uji lanjut menggunakan Uji Berganda Duncan (DMRT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fermentasi feses ayam layer tidak berpengaruh nyata (p>0,05) terhadap pertumbuhan maggot, tetapi berpengaruh nyata (p<0,05) terhadap waktu mencapai prepupa. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah fermentasi feses ayam layer dengan menggunakan 2% ekoenzim memberikan hasil terbaik terhadap waktu mencapai prepupa dengan rata-rata waktu 33 hari.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh fermentasi manure layer sebagai media tumbuh maggot terhadap kandungan N total dan C-organik kasgot. Manure layer yang digunakan berasal dari Farm Talaga Unggas Bahagia, Kecamatan Sukahaji, Kabupaten Majalengka, Jawa Barat. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan 3 perlakuan dan 6 kali ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri atas P1 = Fermentasi manure layer segar, P2 = Fermentasi manure layer dengan eco-enzyme 2% dan P3 = Fermentasi manure layer dengan Stardec 0,25 % . Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis ragam dan dilanjutkan dengan analisis jarak berganda Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan Stardec 0,25% berpengaruh nyata terhadap (p<0,05) kandungan Nitrogen total tetapi tidak berpengaruh terhadap kandungan C-Organik. Penambahan Stardec 0,25% pada fermentasi manure layer menghasilkan perlakuan terbaik dengan jumlah Nitrogen 1,69% dan C-Organik 33,22%

Abstract

In recent years, the exploration of natural supplements such as green tea extract and their potential benefits in livestock nutrition has gained considerable attention among researchers and agriculturalists. Green tea extract contains a high concentration of bioactive substances, such as polyphenols and catechins. This study aimed to explore the effects of varying doses of green tea extract on rumen fermentation parameters through an in vitro trial using sheep rumen liquids. A completely randomized experimental design was utilized to test the effect of 4 different doses of green tea extract treatments (0, 140, 280, and 560 mg/kg) on in vitro Hohenheim gas test method. The current study shows no significant effect of administering green tea extract at various doses on total gas production, total gas production per in vitro dry matter and organic matter degradability, volatile fatty acid per in vitro dry matter and organic matter degradability, methane production per inv vitro dry matter and organic matter degradability of green tea extract. Although no significant effects were observed on the investigated parameters, this study provides important insights in the understanding of the potential use of green tea extract in modulating fermentation processes in the ruminant’s stomach. In conclusion, the findings of this study underscore the impact of GTE on gas production regulation, highlighting its potential implications for gastrointestinal health

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Serbuk teh hijau merupakan salah satu bahan aditif yang dapat ditambahkan ke dalam pakan ternak yang dapat berfungsi sebagai anthelmintik dalam mengurangi infeksi cacing dan meningkatkan kualitas pakan bagi ternak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian berbagai dosis serbuk teh hijau terhadap konsumsi pakan dan pertambahan bobot badan domba betina yang diinfeksi Strongyles Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Lapangan Ternak Domba dan Kesehatan Hewan, Jurusan Peternakan, Polbangtan, Bogor pada bulan Agustus-Oktober 2021. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari tiga perlakuan tingkat pemberian serbuk teh hijau, yaitu P0= 0%, P1= 0,75%, P2= 1,5% dari bahan kering ransum, dengan enam ulangan untuk setiap perlakuannya sehingga total ternak adalah 18 ekor. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan analisis ragam. Parameter yang diukur meliputi konsumsi pakan, pertambahan bobot badan, dan ukuran-ukuran tubuh ternak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian serbuk teh hijau 1,5% (P2) dalam pakan domba betina tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap konsumsi bahan kering, tinggi pundak, tinggi pinggang, lebar pinggul, pertambahan bobot badan, panjang badan, lingkar dada, dan lebar dada domba yang diinfeksi, namun dapat menekan penurunan bobot badan yang diakibatkan oleh parasit cacing.(The effect of green tea dust as a feed additive on performance ewes infected by strongyles)ABSTRACT. Green tea dust is one of feed additives that can be added to animal diet which can function as an anthelmintic in reducing worm infections and improving the performance of the livestock. This study aimed to determine the effect of various doses of green tea dust supplementation on dry matter intake (DMI, g/kg DM), average daily gain (ADG, g/kg DM), and body measurements(cm) of ewes infected with Strongyles. The research was conducted at the Sheep Farm and Animal Health Laboratory, Department of Animal Husbandry, Polbangtan, Bogor in August-October 2021. A completely randomized design was used as the experimental method consisted of three treatments of different levels of green tea dust supplementation, namely P0= 0%, P1= 0.75%, P2= 1.5% from dry matter ration, using 6 replicatess to obtain a total of 18 experimental units. The results showed that the administration of 1.5% green tea dust (P2) had no significant effect on DMI, ADG, and body measurements such as shoulder height, waist height, hip width, body length, chest circumference, and chest width of sheep, which were infected with Strongyles, but it tended to reduce their body weight losses.

Abstract

Black cumin meal has potential as feed ingredient of sheep. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of dietary black cumin meal on the performance and body measurements of Garut sheep. The study used 28 heads of male Garut sheep aged ±10 months with an average initial body weight of 20 ± 2.34 kg/head. A completely randomized design (CRD) was used to compare the influence of 4 different levels (0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%) of black cumin meal in the diet on dry matter intake (DMI, g/head/d), average daily gain (ADG, g/head/d), feed efficiency (%), body length gain (cm), chest circumference gain (cm), and height at withers gain (cm) during 70 d feeding trial using 7 replicates. The data were statistically analyzed using a One-Way Analysis of Variance and continued with Duncan new Multiple Range Test for significant results, operated by the IBM SPSS 26 program. The results showed that DMI (P<0.05), ADG (P<0.01), and feed efficiency (P<0.05) of Garut sheep were increased for a diet containing black cumin meal compared with control. Furthermore, dietary black cumin meal enhanced body length gain (P<0.05), followed by chest circumference gain, and height at withers gain (P<0.01). Dietary black cumin meal 10% is the optimum level to increase the performance and body measurements. In conclusion, dietary black cumin meal improves the performance and body measurements of Garut sheep.

Abstract

Pasundan cattle are one of Indonesia’s local cattle thathave the potential to be developed, especially in terms of meatquality. Meat quality is strongly influenced by fatty acidcomposition, which is closely related to gene regulation. This studyaims to identify the diversity of the FASN (fatty acid synthase) geneas a candidate gene for meat quality in female Pasundan cattle. Thisstudy used an experimental descriptive method with 25 DNAsamples of female Pasundan cattle with an age range of 1,5-2 years.DNA amplification using PCR was perfomed with specific primersdesigned with NCBI Primer Blast, flanking the target gene along560 bp. The analysis was followed by PCR-RFLP (RestrictionFragment Length Polymorphism) method using MscI enzyme todetect single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) g.17924 A>G in exon39 and confirm the target mutation using direct sequencingmethod. The results showed only one genotype, the GG genotype(100%), with a G allele frequency of 1.00. Based on these results, itcan be concluded that the FASN gene mutation g.17924 A>Gmutation in Pasundan cattle is monomorphic. SNP g.17924 A>G inthe FASN gene has the potential to affect the fatty acid compositionof Pasundan female beef
