Abstract

Artificial Lake is one of the lakes located in Lembah Sari Village, Rumbai Pesisir District, which was expanded into East Rumbai District on December 30, 2020, with an area of 166.40 ha. The various activities in the artificial lake cause a decrease in water quality due to the input of waste dumped into the lake, thus impacting the ecological condition of the biota, one of which is macrozoobenthos. This research aims to determine the environmental status of bottom waters using macrozoobenthos. This research was carried out in July-August 2023 at three stations. The abundance of macrozoobenthos ranges from 115-465 ind/m3, with the species consisting of 2 classes (Gastropoda and Oligochaeta) divided into four families. Generally, the macrozoobenthos found are the Oligochaeta, tolerant class, and the Gastropoda, facultative class. The diversity index for Stations I, II, and III ranges from 1.010 to 1.224, with a medium level of diversity. The ecological quality of the waters in the Artificial Lake based on the ABC Curve method for Stations I, II, and III showed that the seas were lightly polluted. In general, the water quality at Stations I, II, and III is not much different, where the parameters of temperature, brightness, depth, TSS, pH, and DO are still by class II quality standards PP No. 22 of 2021, but the BOD content is high. High BOD values indicate the amount of organic material at each station.

Abstract

The diversity and abundance of gastropods are related to the condition of seagrass. In Teluk Bakau Village, anthropogenic activities such as tourism and fish catching negatively affect the seagrass ecosystem. To understand the diversity and abundance of gastropods in that area, a study was conducted in January-March 2023. Sampling was carried out at three stations: in the area close to human inhabitants (S1), ecotourism area (S2), and in the area with no human activity (S3). In each station, there were three transect lines; in each line, there were five plots (1x1 m2). Gastropod and seagrass samplings were conducted three times. Gastropods and seagrass were collected manually from each plot and then calculated and identified. Results showed eight species of gastropods and four species of seagrass. Abundance of Gastropods was 16.13 ind/m2 in S1, 11.6 ind/m2 in S2 and 50.53 ind/m2 in S3. The most abundant gastropod in the study area was Strombus canarium, which was present in each station. The seagrass density ranged from 51-113.86 plants/m2, and the most common seagrass was Enhalus acoroides, found in each station. The results of a simple linear regression test on the relationship between seagrass density and gastropod abundance was R = 0.975 (very strong).

Abstract

Fish resources are one of the natural resources that must be used as much as possible for the welfare of the community, especially around Riau Province, where part of its territory is a coastal area that has a wealth of marine biological resources that have the potential to be developed at present and in the future. One type of marine biological resource that has high economic value is the most abundant fish resource. The methods used in this study are the direct observation survey method, interviews, and distributing questionnaires. The data used in this research consists of primary and secondary data. Primary data is obtained from the results of observations and measurements made in the field, including interviews with respondents, while secondary data is in the form of excerpts from previous research journals and activity report documents obtained from related institutions or agencies. grouping based on composite value, i.e., domains that qualify as "moderate," namely economics, and domains that qualify for the "good" stage, namely the institutional domain, and finally the domains that qualify for the "excellent" stage are the domain of fish resources, the domain of fishing techniques, and the social domain. Therefore, the priority for improvement as well as the spotlight are given to the economic domain. The status of the best fisheries management in Bengkalis Regency as a whole is considered to be in good criterion condition (aggregate score: 71). However, specifically based on the values between domains, three groupings based on composite values can be obtained, namely, domains that qualify as "moderate," namely the economic domain and habitat and ecosystem. Domains that qualify as "good" are institutional domains and social domains. While the domains that qualify as "very good" are the domain of fish resources and the domain of fishing techniques, Domains that qualify as "good" are institutional domains and social domains.
