Abstract

Mangrove forest in the Teluk Buo Village has been degraded due to anthropogenic activities. To understand the mangrove community structure in that area, a research was carried out in February-Juny 2017. A purposive sampling method was applied and there were 3 stations with 3 transec lines in each station. Along the line, 3 quadrans (10 x 10 m) were used for tree sampling; 3 quadrans (5 x 5 m) for sapling sampling and 3 quadrans (2 x 2 m) for seedling sampling. Mangroves were then identified. Relative density and diversity index of the mangrove were calculated. Results shown that there were 7 mangrove species, namely Rhizopora apiculata, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Ceriops tagal, Sonneratia ovata, Scyphiphora hydrophyllacea, Aegiceras corniculatum, and Lumnitzera littorea. The most common species was R.apiculata. The value of relative density of the mangrove was 333-944 p/ha (scarce and damage), and that of the diversity index is medium (1.10-1.55).Keywords: Mangrove, Rhizopora apiculata, Diversity

Abstract

Peryphiton has an important role in food chain, as it is able to absorb CO2 and release O2 which is very useful for other organisms and environment. The purpose of this research is to study the community which includes the abundance, diversity and the type of dominant ephilitic peryphiton in the Kampar River that flown in the Tabing Village. This research was conducted in January 2015. Peryphiton samples were collected from 4 stations. The peryphiton was collected by scraping stone surface (5 x 5 cm) using a tooth brush. The scraped materials were kept in plastic jars and filled with 50 ml aquadest and then were fixed using lugol (3 drops/ 50 ml samples). The peryphiton were then identified based on YunFang (1995). Results shown that there were 49 species of ephilitic peryphiton and they were belonged to 5 classes, namely Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Xanthophyceae and Dinophyceae. The abundance of the peryphiton ranged from 9,833 – 32,917 cells/l and the diversity index (H ') ranged from 3.995 - 4.928, it means that the distribution of each type is high. The uniformity (E) index ranged from 0.871 - 0.988, it means that the uniformity is balance. The Dominancy index (C) ranged from 0.043 - 0.269, it means that there is no dominant species. These results demonstrate that the diversity of the ephilitic peryphiton in the Kampar River is high and there is no dominant species. Keywords: Community, periphyton Epilitik, Kampar River

Abstract

Plastics are the synthesis of polymerization of different types of monomers. Almost all kinds of plastic will drift or float inside the water body. It will cause the plastic to be torn apart and damaged by the sunlight, oxidation and abrasion of mechanically forming plastic particles. Ecobrick is one way of handling plastic waste by packing clean and dry plastic into plastic bottles. Community empowerment to process plastic waste into something useful in the long term is one of the keys to the success of the plastic waste recycling program. This activity will provide benefits for community service participants, members who implement counselling, higher education and government. The target audience in these community service activities is the village community Bunga Raya, Siak regency. Results of public service activities that have been implemented by the community have been able to make seats from Ecobrick. In society, it is expected not only to make seats from Ecobrick but also to create other creations. So it can be used as a new business opportunity for the target community.

Abstract

This research was conducted from July to October 2021 in Bengkalis Regency. This research is focused on evaluating in detail the condition of the ultimate fisheries from the ecological, social, economic, and institutional aspects as well as scientific information for follow-up planning and implementation of the best fisheries management in the waters of the Bengkalis Strait. The research method used during the study was a survey method. Types and sources of data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. The number of key respondents used in this study were 30 people. Sustainable fisheries management is seen from five dimensions, namely the ecological dimension, the economic dimension, the social dimension, the technological dimension and the institutional dimension. The scores for each attribute were analyzed using the Rapfish technique and will be passed through several analyzes such as multi-dimensional scaling (MDS), leverage analysis (JackKnife), and Monte Carlo analysis. Based on the results of the study the results of the catch of the terubuk fish during the period June-September amounted to 160 fish. From this amount, it showed that the percentage of male fish caught was much more dominant, namely 110 fish (69%) than 50 female fish (31%). The results of the analysis of each dimension show that the ecological index (59.92%) is included in the moderately sustainable category, the economic dimension (52.94%) is included in the moderately sustainable category, the social dimension (50.54%) is included in the moderately sustainable category, the social dimension (50.54%) is included in the moderately sustainable category. Institutional (49.91%) is included in the sustainable category and the technological dimension (70.25%) indicates the category is quite sustainable. Thus, the design of the terubuk fish management in Bengkalis waters can use the dimensions of the attributes that are classified as quite sustainable, to support or improve the institutional dimensions in order to support the management of terubuk fish

Abstract

Siak River is one of the biggest rivers and the deepest in Riau Province in Indonesia with its 20-30 depth and depth 370 kilometers. The Siak River used for bathing, washing, dumping industrial palm oil, plantation, domestic waste, and port so it has an impact on water quality changing. This study analyzed the water quality and distribution spatial physical and chemical parameters the river around in Pekanbaru city, using Principal Component Analysis (PCA), this study used laboratory in situ and ex situ water quality measurement instruments. Water sampling each station done three times in two weeks during October to November 2019. The results obtained from this study shows the water quality of these 6 stations in the category of bad and the water quality from headwaters to downstream river influenced by organic parameter as a dominant pollutant. The correlation of water quality characteristic was 74.4% main factor 1 (F1) 47.4% and main factor 2 (F2) 26.7% with main characteristics fecal coliform, phosphate, and nitrate. Grouping these characteristics through a dendrogram showed three levels of relationship based on the characteristic parameter. The first group stands for station 1,2, and 4 have higher brightness and Dissolved oxygen (DO) parameters than other stations. The second group stands for stations 3 and 5 that have relatively high in parameter phosphate and nitrate. The third group is station 6 (river estuary) which results in shows high of fecal coliform proportional to pollution. The study can be concluded that three groups heavily contaminated. Each group has different parameters that show influence upland and waters activities. Keywords: Distribution of spatial, The quality of water, Siak River, Physical and Chemical Parameters, PCA ABSTRAKSungai Siak merupakan salah satu sungai terbesar di Provinsi Riau dan terdalam di Indonesia, dengan kedalaman sekitar 20-30 meter dan panjang 300 kilometer.
