Abstract

This research was conducted in October - November 2021 in Rawa Mekar Jaya Village, Sungai Apit District, Riau Province. The study area includes the mangrove forest of Rawa Mekar Jaya Village and Rawa Mekar Jaya River. Managing mangrove forests sustainably requires an integrated and sustainable management strategy; therefore an evaluation of sustainability status is carried out through 27 indicators grouped into four dimensions, namely ecology, economy, socio-culture, and institutional law. Indicators were obtained from previous research, literature studies, and field observations. Sustainability index assessment categories (1-100) can show the status of sustainability in mangrove forest ecosystem management in a multi-dimensional. Overall, the sustainability status of the multidimensional mangrove forest ecosystem of Kampung Rawa Mekar Jaya is classified as less sustainable with an average of 45.62. Socio-cultural (14.92) and economic (26.34) dimensions need improvement but the ecological and legal dimensions of the institution must be maintained

Abstract

Siak River is one of the biggest rivers and the deepest in Riau Province in Indonesia with its 20-30 depth and depth 370 kilometers. The Siak River used for bathing, washing, dumping industrial palm oil, plantation, domestic waste, and port so it has an impact on water quality changing. This study analyzed the water quality and distribution spatial physical and chemical parameters the river around in Pekanbaru city, using Principal Component Analysis (PCA), this study used laboratory in situ and ex situ water quality measurement instruments. Water sampling each station done three times in two weeks during October to November 2019. The results obtained from this study shows the water quality of these 6 stations in the category of bad and the water quality from headwaters to downstream river influenced by organic parameter as a dominant pollutant. The correlation of water quality characteristic was 74.4% main factor 1 (F1) 47.4% and main factor 2 (F2) 26.7% with main characteristics fecal coliform, phosphate, and nitrate. Grouping these characteristics through a dendrogram showed three levels of relationship based on the characteristic parameter. The first group stands for station 1,2, and 4 have higher brightness and Dissolved oxygen (DO) parameters than other stations. The second group stands for stations 3 and 5 that have relatively high in parameter phosphate and nitrate. The third group is station 6 (river estuary) which results in shows high of fecal coliform proportional to pollution. The study can be concluded that three groups heavily contaminated. Each group has different parameters that show influence upland and waters activities. Keywords: Distribution of spatial, The quality of water, Siak River, Physical and Chemical Parameters, PCA ABSTRAKSungai Siak merupakan salah satu sungai terbesar di Provinsi Riau dan terdalam di Indonesia, dengan kedalaman sekitar 20-30 meter dan panjang 300 kilometer. Abstract

Fish resources are one of the natural resources that must be used as much as possible for the welfare of the community, especially around Riau Province, where part of its territory is a coastal area that has a wealth of marine biological resources that have the potential to be developed at present and in the future. One type of marine biological resource that has high economic value is the most abundant fish resource. The methods used in this study are the direct observation survey method, interviews, and distributing questionnaires. The data used in this research consists of primary and secondary data. Primary data is obtained from the results of observations and measurements made in the field, including interviews with respondents, while secondary data is in the form of excerpts from previous research journals and activity report documents obtained from related institutions or agencies. grouping based on composite value, i.e., domains that qualify as "moderate," namely economics, and domains that qualify for the "good" stage, namely the institutional domain, and finally the domains that qualify for the "excellent" stage are the domain of fish resources, the domain of fishing techniques, and the social domain. Therefore, the priority for improvement as well as the spotlight are given to the economic domain. The status of the best fisheries management in Bengkalis Regency as a whole is considered to be in good criterion condition (aggregate score: 71). However, specifically based on the values between domains, three groupings based on composite values can be obtained, namely, domains that qualify as "moderate," namely the economic domain and habitat and ecosystem. Domains that qualify as "good" are institutional domains and social domains. While the domains that qualify as "very good" are the domain of fish resources and the domain of fishing techniques, Domains that qualify as "good" are institutional domains and social domains

Abstract

The diversity and abundance of gastropods are related to the condition of seagrass. In Teluk Bakau Village, anthropogenic activities such as tourism and fish catching negatively affect the seagrass ecosystem. To understand the diversity and abundance of gastropods in that area, a study was conducted in January-March 2023. Sampling was carried out at three stations: in the area close to human inhabitants (S1), ecotourism area (S2), and in the area with no human activity (S3). In each station, there were three transect lines; in each line, there were five plots (1x1 m2). Gastropod and seagrass samplings were conducted three times. Gastropods and seagrass were collected manually from each plot and then calculated and identified. Results showed eight species of gastropods and four species of seagrass. Abundance of Gastropods was 16.13 ind/m2 in S1, 11.6 ind/m2 in S2 and 50.53 ind/m2 in S3. The most abundant gastropod in the study area was Strombus canarium, which was present in each station. The seagrass density ranged from 51-113.86 plants/m2, and the most common seagrass was Enhalus acoroides, found in each station. The results of a simple linear regression test on the relationship between seagrass density and gastropod abundance was R = 0.975 (very strong)

Abstract

Seagrass is present in the Genting Beach. During the low tide, however, propeler of fishermen ship damage the seagrass habitat in general. To understand the types and density of seagrass in Genting Beach, a study has been conducted in April – June 2018. There were 3 sampling points, in the river mouth of the Genting River (SP I), in the shipping line (SP II), and in the mangrove area (SP III). Seagrass were taken from 3 quadrants (1x1 m) in each sampling point. Sampling were conducted once. The seagrass was then identified. Results shown that there was one type of seagrass species, namely Enhalus acoroides. Seagrass density range from 17.99 – 90.78 organism/m2 and the coverage of seagrass was around 3.04% – 14.39%, water temperature was 31.66 - 32ºC, salinity 32‰, pH 8, clarity 0.26 – 0.33 m, current flow 0.37 – 0.42 m/s, sandy mud substrate, nitrate 0.033 – 0.075 mg/L, phosphate 0.035 – 0.104 mg/L and organic material was 20.50 – 27.57%. The seagrass density in the Genting Beach is classified as rare and the coverage as low.

Abstract

This research was conducted from July to October 2021 in Bengkalis Regency. This research is focused on evaluating in detail the condition of the ultimate fisheries from the ecological, social, economic, and institutional aspects as well as scientific information for follow-up planning and implementation of the best fisheries management in the waters of the Bengkalis Strait. The research method used during the study was a survey method. Types and sources of data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. The number of key respondents used in this study were 30 people. Sustainable fisheries management is seen from five dimensions, namely the ecological dimension, the economic dimension, the social dimension, the technological dimension and the institutional dimension. The scores for each attribute were analyzed using the Rapfish technique and will be passed through several analyzes such as multi-dimensional scaling (MDS), leverage analysis (JackKnife), and Monte Carlo analysis. Based on the results of the study the results of the catch of the terubuk fish during the period June-September amounted to 160 fish. From this amount, it showed that the percentage of male fish caught was much more dominant, namely 110 fish (69%) than 50 female fish (31%). The results of the analysis of each dimension show that the ecological index (59.92%) is included in the moderately sustainable category, the economic dimension (52.94%) is included in the moderately sustainable category, the social dimension (50.54%) is included in the moderately sustainable category, the social dimension (50.54%) is included in the moderately sustainable category. Institutional (49.91%) is included in the sustainable category and the technological dimension (70.25%) indicates the category is quite sustainable. Thus, the design of the terubuk fish management in Bengkalis waters can use the dimensions of the attributes that are classified as quite sustainable, to support or improve the institutional dimensions in order to support the management of terubuk fish.
