Abstract

Introduction: Every workplace has potential hazards that can threaten work safety, including clinical pathology laboratories. Work accidents in clinical pathology at Dr. Soebandi Regional Hospital Jember have decreased every year. This study aims to examine the determinants of safety behavior among clinical pathology assistants at Dr. Soebandi Regional Hospital, Jember. Methods: This research was a quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach. The study's respondents were 32 clinical pathology assistants. We collected data using a questionnaire. We analyzed this research using frequency, crosstab, and logistic regression tests. Results: The majority of clinical pathology assistants were under 40 years old, had completed occupational health and safety training, possessed competencies suitable for their work, maintained a positive attitude, and demonstrated high motivation at work. Almost all respondents stated that supervision was good, they had good knowledge, and their most recent level of education was Diploma-III. Most clinical pathology assistants behave safely. Clinical pathology assistants who are under 40 years old, have completed occupational health and safety training, exhibit competence, a positive attitude, and high motivation, report good supervision, possess good knowledge, and hold the latest Diploma-III education level are more likely to behave safely. Conclusion: Several clinical pathology assistants have demonstrated safe behavior while working in the clinical pathology laboratory. Several factors, including superior supervision and reasonable supervision efforts in the clinical pathology laboratory, contribute to the safe behavior of clinical pathology assistants.

Abstract

Abstract

This study discusses the analysis of work posture on all activities of workers who produce coco fiber in CV. Sumber Sari is located in Lembengan Village, Jember Regency. The production processes that are currently operating are the jockey, drying, sieving, and pressing processes. Work activities are carried out repeatedly, causing complaints to workers. These complaints arise due to non-ergonomic posture causing pain in several parts of the body felt by workers. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of risk and the percentage of complaints experienced during the production process. The methods used are the Standard Nordic Questionnaire (SNQ) and the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA). The results of the research from the SNQ questionnaire on the manufacture of coco fiber, the body segments of workers mostly experience complaints on the back, waist and thighs. Research using the REBA method has a very high level of risk in jockey, sieving, and pressing workers (A4 and A5).Keywords— musculoskeletal disorders, working posture, SNQ, REBA

Abstract

Introduction: The safety aspects of working on the sea which have not been properly implemented by fishermen have resulted in a high fatality rate in the fisheries sector. The dynamic conditions of the south coast sea waves in Jember Regency and the lack of understanding of safety by fishermen have caused several accidents which resulted in work fatalities. The research team viewed that the OSH problems faced by fishing communities need to be studied further. The purpose of this study was to examine the safety aspects of fishing vessels and describe the safety aspects of sailing based on individual characteristics. Method: This research is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. Respondents in this study were 260 small-scale fishermen and 24 boats. The research variables are the characteristics of the respondents and sailing safety aspects. Results: The safety aspects of fishermen are at an unsafe level with a tendency for unsafe behavior to be carried out by fishermen who have worked for more than 11 years with a working duration of more than 9 hours and most of them come from Puger Beach. Conclusion: The characteristics of Puger Beach, which has high waves with strong currents, cause many work accidents, so it needs support from the government to improve the work safety aspects of the fishermen by providing sailing safety training and appropriate PPE.
