Abstract

This study aims to describe and explain the value of aqidah, syariah values, and moral values depicted in the speech of a character or character behavior in the novel Assalamualaikum Beijing by Asma Nadia. This research type is qualitative research with descriptive method. Data collection is done through (1) reading and marking the events and speeches of characters or characters in the novel Assalamualaikum Beijing by Asma Nadia, in order to get a clear picture of the content of the novel to be studied; (2) marking the novel part that will be the focus of research that is the value of aqidah, syariah value, and moral value; (3) to record data on Islamic values contained in the novel by looking at issues that appear through the speech of a character or behavior of a story character in a data recording format; (4) inventory data using data inventory format. Based on the results of the study concluded, the following points. The Islamic values in Asma Nadia's novel Assalamualaikum Beijing are (1) the value of faith that can be seen from the actions and behaviors of the character: faith in God, faith in God's book, faith in the last day, and faith in Qada and Qadar (destiny); (2) the value of sharia is like the sentence shahada, pray, pray, dzikir, dress, and marriage; (3) moral values such as morality to God that is grateful and morals towards each other is divided into (a) morals to the self that is patient, sincere, and self-guard; (b) morals to the family that is doing good to the parents, and educating children; (c) morals to others is to say hello.Keywords: islamic values, Assalamualaikum Beijing

Abstract

The purpose of this article (a) to describe story of episode cerpen Madre by Dewi Lestari (b) to describe story of episode film Madre director by Beni Setiawan, (c) to describe similar and different story of episode cerpen  with film Madre. The Data of this study were story of episode Madre by Dewi Lestari and film Madre director by Beni Setiawan. Analyzed technique do with ekranisasi theory. The findings of the study showed that the decrease story of episode cerpan Madre by Dewi Lestari in film Madre director by Beni Setiawan  become to 27 story of episode. Increase story of episode in film Madre  director by Beni Setiawan become to 56 story of episode. The same variation changes event, figure and background story of episode in n cerpen Madre created by Dewi Lestari  and film Madre director by Beni Setiawan become to 11 story of episode.Keywords: Ecranization, Dewi Lestari, Short story

Abstract

This research purposed to describe: (1) The structure of foklore titled Mak Lekoh at Nagari Koto Baru, Kubung , Solok district, (2) The social function of foklore Mak Lekoh  at Nagari Koto Baru, Kubung , Solok district. The type of this research is qualitative research that using descriptive methode. The data collected by interview, recorded , transcription, transliteration, and clasification by recording result of inerview with an informan at Nagari Koto Baru, Kubung , Solok district. Analyzing data do with some steps. First, Inventaritation. Second, analysis. Third, data interpretation. Fourth, make a conclusion based on research result. Based on the research result, can be concluded these things. First, the structure of foklore Mak Lekoh  at Nagari Koto Baru, Kubung , Solok district covered: (a). Characterization, consist of two characters, they are the main character and additional character. The main character is Junaidi Dt. Panjang or Mak Lekoh , as known as a man who has a weirdness, when he died he become a tiger or become an mystic animal. In addition, the additional characters are his wife, childrens, his family and the civillians. (b). The plot of Mak Lekoh foklore shown  a conventional plot because it was regularly event trough the caused and effect , (c) Background,  it was at Nagari Koto Baru, Kubung , Solok district at long time ago placed in Lansanak area. (d). Theme, the theme is a certain life’s  point of view or certain felling that build a basic or main ideas  of literary work. Second, the social function of Mak Lekoh foklore as teaching , legation, self – identity , entertaining , and tradition function.Keywords: structure, social function, folklore

Abstract

This study aims to describe the representation of Javanese social stratificationin Pantai Gadis novel by Paramoedya Ananta Toer, which includes: (1) the formof social stratification of the Javanese community, (2) the causes of of the Javanese community, and (3) the impact of the socialstratification of the Javanese community. This research is a qualitative studyand descriptive methods. Based on the analysis of the data obtained; (1) theform of social stratification in Javanese society is the division of aristocraticgroups (Ndra), priyayi (bureaucrats), and the underprivileged (ordinary people)because they are influenced by factors of power or rank, (2) the causes ofJavanese stratification are several one factor is wealth, power and povertybecause in general the cause is from a person's economic factors, and (3) theimpact of social stratification of the Javanese community one of which isdiscriminatory from various parties both upper and lower classes, then existence of ethnocentrism (boasting of one's own culture ), it means that theculture it has is good and must be numbered while other cultures do not, andthe last one is social conflict, many social conflicts occur because of the 2previous impacts, namely discrimination and ethnocentrism, social conflictsoccur because of inner turmoil towards individuals.Keywords : form of stratification, cause of stratification, and effect ofstratification

Abstract

Literary works are often used as a medium to criticize and explain social problems experienced by society. One of these literary works is the drama script West Side Story by Arthur Laurenst. This study focuses on the criticism of several social problems described in the play West Side Story. This study uses the method of content analysis of literary texts which are then interpreted by researchers. Research data sourced from the play West Side Story was collected using the library research method. Through analysis with the Sociology of Literature approach which focuses on sociological aspects in a work, it is found that there is a critique of social problems described in the play West Wide Story. The criticism is related to the problem of poverty which leads to violence and deprivation; juvenile delinquency in the form of immoral acts as a result of family disharmony; wars that cause damage to the natural environment; and degrading and harassing women.

Abstract

This study aims to describe (1) the forms of social conflict in the Tiba Sebelum Berangkat’s novel by Faisal Oddang; (2) the causes of social conflict in the Tiba Sebelum Berangkat’s novel by Faisal Oddang; (3) the impact of social conflict in the Tiba Sebelum Berangkat’s novel by Faisal Oddang.This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive methods. The data contained in this study are in the form of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences that refer to social conflicts that occur in the Tiba Sebelum Berangkat’s novel by Faisal Oddang. The data source of this research is the Tiba Sebelum Berangkat’s novel by Faisal Oddang. The research instrument was the researcher himself with a tool in the form of a recording sheet to record matters relating to social conflicts contained in the Tiba Sebelum Berangkat’s novel by Faisal Oddang. Data collection techniques were carried out in several stages, namely (1) reading and understanding the novel that was the object of research; (2) marking the speeches of the characters and narrators in the novel in accordance with the data sought; (3) identifying data related to the research problem; (4) inventory data. The data validation technique used in this research is the triangulation technique. Data analysis technique is done by classifying data, interpreting data, and concluding research results.The results of the study found, namely: (1) the form of social conflict in the novel in the form of social conflict at the individual level, social conflict at the group or family level, and social conflict at the community level; (2) the causes of social conflict in the novel in the form of differences of opinion, differences in interests, and cultural conflicts; (3) the impact of social conflict in the novel in the form of inner destruction, loss of trust, and rift relations between individuals and groups.

Abstract

The image of prostituted women always gets a negative stigma in society. Therefore, various studies are needed to understand the ins and outs and portraits of prostitutes in various literatures. This study aims to describe the representation of female prostitutes in Maman Suherman's Re:. This type of research is qualitative with descriptive methods. The data in this study are in the form of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences that indicate the representation of female prostitutes in the novel. The data source in this study is the novel Re: by Maman Suherman, published by Prima Grafika in Jakarta in 2014 which consists of 161 pages, which is the first printing. The findings in this study indicate that the representation of female prostitutes in Maman Suherman's novel Re: by Maman Suherman has several parts, (1) categories of female prostitutes, (2) types of representation of female prostitutes, (3) the background or motive for the representation of female prostitutes, and (4) due to representation of female prostitutes.
