Abstract

Diabetic wounds are one of the complications of Diabetes Mellitus (DM), which are at risk of infection and can end in amputation. Colocasia leaves contain metabolites of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, steroids and saponins, which have antibacterial and antioxidant activity and can accelerate wound healing by helping cell regeneration. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of taro leaves extract emulgel worked for wound healing in diabetic rats. The test animals were 25 white male rats divided into five groups, namely positive control (applied with Cutimed® gel), negative control (applied with emulgel base), standard control (non-diabetic rats), Treatment-1 (applied emulgel once a day) and Treatment-2 (applied emulgel twice a day). Male white rats were injected with alloxan to make them diabetic and, additionally, given a grade 2 incision. Visual observations started from day 1 to day 16. The results of statistical analysis for measuring the diameter of the incision (Morton's method) and visual observation of the wound (method of scoring) obtained sig α 0.05, meaning that the treatment groups 1 and 2 were significantly different from the negative control. Treatment-2 produced nearly the same effect as the positive control. The conclusion was that 5% Taro Leaf extract emulgel applied twice daily was the most effective in healing cuts in diabetic rats for 13 days.

Abstract

Kencur (Kaempferia galanga L.) is a plant that grows in Indonesia and is often used as a traditional spice. The main content of Kencur is ethyl p-methoxycinamic has a mild level of toxicity. Hydrolysis results from Ethyl p-methoxycinamic namely p-methoxycinamic acid have been widely studied as having antibacterial activity against S. aureus with MIC of 125 ppm. P-methoxycinamic acid has anti-inflammatory activity, topical anti-inflammatory power of 8.7% p-methoxycinamic acid based on molar equality with 1% Na-diclofenac. Cinnamic acid compounds have greater potential as an inhibitor of cervical cancer cells compared to methyl cinnamon because they have more hydrogen bonds. Hydrolysis of ethyl p-methoxycinamic to p-methoxycinamic acid has been carried out, then identification tests have been carried out covering the melting distance obtained values ​​of 172–173ºC. The results of TLC analysis with the mobile phase of methanol: acetone (2: 1) p-methoxycinamic acid compound gave an Rf value of: 0.67. The results of infrared spectrum analysis of hydrolysis compounds provide information on the presence of specific functional groups, namely carbonyl groups of acids (C = O) which are shown by the absorption band at wave number 1690.49 cm-1. Hydrogen bonding in carboxylic acid dimers weakens the C = O bond, resulting in absorption at lower wave numbers. In this spectrum CO groups of acids are shown at absorption of 1029.92 cm-1, aromatic C = C groups are shown by uptake at wave numbers 1602.74 cm-1 and 1627.81 cm-1, while bands at wave number 828.37 cm-1 indicates the presence of para-substituted aromatic nuclei. Acute toxicity test of p-methoxycinamic acid compound which was carried out in a span of 24 hours showed that p-methoxycinamic acid had a moderate level of toxicity.

Abstract

Breast milk is the only first food that can be consumed by newborns until the age reaches six months. therefore it is very important to know by the mother who is pregnant and will give birth about the importance of breast milk. Oxytocin drugs have similar functions to the natural hormone oxytocin produced by the body. This drug serves to trigger or strengthen the contraction of the uterine muscle. Therefore, oxytocin can be used to stimulate (induce) labor and stop bleeding after childbirth. In addition, this drug can also help stimulate the release of breast milk in breastfeeding mothers. Oxytocin should be avoided by pregnant women who can not give birth normally, for example because it has a narrow pelvis, suffering from placenta previa, or having a too strong uterine contractions. Oxytocin is also prohibited for pregnant women with cephalopelvic disproportion, impaired fetal conditions, uterine damage, or a history of caesarean section. In this study we see whether there is effect of different doses of oxytocin on the quantity of breastmilk produced. oxytocin doses were administered with 3 doses of 5 UI, 10 UI and 15 UI. the dose of oxytocin is administered once per incidence of labor. maternal results obtained by oxytocin induction of 5 UI and 10 UI obtained breastmilk averaging 10 ml in the first 24 hours after delivery. and a mother with oxytocin induction 15 UI received an average breastmilk of 10 ml at 24 hours after delivery.

Abstract

Inflammation can be caused by various stimuli which include physical injury, infection, heat and antigen antibody interactions. Ginger (Kaempferia galanga L.) and Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) are medicinal plants that are often used by Indonesians as an alternative to natural medicine and have been studied to have good anti-inflammatory properties because they contain quercetin. This study aims to determine the effective dose of the combination of Ginger ethanol extract and Shallots as anti-inflammatory with a smaller dose. This study was carried out using male rats in 5 treatment groups, consisting of negative control (CMC-Na 0.5 %), control positive (diclofenac Na tablets 0,1 mg/kg body weight rat), and 3 combination doses of Ginger extract: Shallots extract, dose combination I (3 mg/kg body weight Rat: 2 mg / kg body weight Rat), dose combination II (6 mg / kg body weight Rat : 1 mg/kg body weight Rat), and the dose combination III (6 mg/kg body weight Rat: 2 mg kg body weight Rat) using Carrageenan Method on Rat's Feet. The results of the anti-inflammatory activity test showed that all the dose combination treatment groups had anti-inflammatory. The dose combination III was significantly different from the negative control group and showed the most effective dose of combination. The formulated combination shows a synergistic effect between ginger and shallots as an anti-inflammatory. Average percentage (%) of edema inhibition combination III is 71,08 %.

Abstract

Rimpang kencur (Kaemferia galanga L) mengandung senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin dan steroid yang berpotensi dapat menstimulasi hormon oksitosin yang memiliki fungsi merangsang prolaktin agar terus dapat memproduksi ASI. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan dan menetapkan gambaran histologi kelenjar mammae terbaik terhadap mencit yang diberikan ekstrak etanol kencur. ekstrak etanol kencur dibuat dengan metode suspensi. Pengujian dilakukan terhadap hewan mencit betina dengan lima ulangan yang diberikan ekstrak etanol kencur dengan dosis 10, 20, dan 40 mg/Kg BB, obat moloco® sebagai kontrol positif dan tanpa perlakuan sebagai kontrol negatif, Hasil statistiK menunjukkan untuk parameter bobot kelenjar mammae, jumlah lobus, dan luas alveoli menunjukkan ekstrak etanol kencur mempunyai efek yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan gambaran histologi kelenjar mammae mencit berkaitan dengan produktivitas kelenjar mammae sebagai penghasil air susu induk hewan mencit betina. Hasil statsitik menunjukkan dosis 40 mg/kg BB dosis terbaik efeknya setara dengan obat moloco®.

Abstract

Wound is a condition that is the destruction of the unity or network components, which are specifically found the substance of tissue damaged or lost, either damage the continuity of the skin, mucous membranes and bones or other organs. Wound healing is a very complex process involving many cells. The process of wound healing is portrayed as occurs in biological surgical wound occurred. Several phases of wound healing are: the process of inflammation (inflammatory), the process of cell multiplication (proliferation) and cell maturation process (maturase). Okra is a plant that allegedly came from Southeast Asia. Okra has grown in many countries in almost all over the world. In the UK okra known as the Lady's Finger, in India it is called by the name of Bhindi while the United States called Gumbo. In Indonesia, this plant also has a local name that is Rabamea (Bima), Coffee Java (Java), Arabian Coffee (Sulawesi), Hoinu (Southeast Sulawesi), but better known by the name of okra. This study aims to determine the effective concentration and determine the length of time of wound healing using a combination gel okra fruit extract (Abelmoschus esculentus) And shallots (Allium cepa L.) as an anti-inflammatory against cuts in male white rats (Sprague -Dawley) with a length of observation for 9 days. This study uses Betadine® ointment as a positive control. The results showed the combination of fruit extract gel okra 6% and shallots 2% contained in the formula 3 most effective as an anti-inflammatory against cuts in male rats by administration for 6 days.

Abstract

Burns are a global public health problem, with approximately 180,000 deaths each year. The incidence of second-degree burns in Indonesia accounts for 46.7%. Redness, swelling, ulcers, and severe pain characterize these wounds. This study aims to test the effectiveness, percentage of healing, and length of gel application of a combination of star fruit leaf extract and aloe vera leaf pulp on the healing of second-degree burns in male rats. Morton's method was used in this study to measure the diameter of the burn wound. The treatments of this study included a combination gel of star fruit leaf extract and aloe vera leaf with variations in the ratio of F1 (6%: 5%), F2 (6%: 10%), F3 (12%: 5%), and the control group with 5 replicates each group. The results showed that the gel combination of extracts of star fruit leaves and aloe vera leaves effectively treated burn wounds in rats. Duncan's test of the treatment of variations in extract concentration showed a significant difference. The combination of starfruit leaf extract and aloe vera in gel preparation has effectively healed burns in male mice. The duration of administration is 16 days, with the percentage of healing for categories F1, F2, and F3 being 45%, 55%, and 61%, respectively. Burn wound healing activity occurs because the two extracts used contain alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins, which act as anti-inflammatories, increase the growth of epithelial cells and collagen, and help the formation of new tissues.

Abstract

Health is one of the basic human needs that is important to maintain. With good health conditions, humans can carry out activities and fulfill other life needs well. Health services are a dynamic activity in the form of helping the community in monitoring the scale of their health. Health services are efforts carried out jointly to maintain and improve health, prevent and cure disease, and increase public attention to their health conditions. Degenerative is a group of diseases in which there is a change in the function of certain parts of the body. As age increases, body function also decreases, so that degenerative diseases cannot be avoided. The dominant risk factor for degenerative diseases is heredity. Exercise habits and the habit of consuming balanced nutrition will also help with a healthy and good aging process. The aim of this service activity is so that people in the Pakansari Cibinong sub-district who take part in the activity can know the importance of knowing their health conditions and also raise awareness among the people in the Pakansari Cibinong sub-district regarding their health conditions. Activities carried out at community service events for the community in Cibinong sub-district are general health checks, Body Mass Index (BMI) checks, blood pressure checks, blood sugar checks and uric acid checks. There were 38 people who took part in the activity, including 26.3% men and 73.7% women. From the results of the examination, it was found that 39.5% of participants had a normal BMI, 47.4% were overweight and 13.2% were obese. Hypertensive conditions were found to be dominant in pre-hypertensive conditions, namely with a percentage of 29.7%. Blood sugar conditions were found to be hypertension, namely with a percentage of 86.5% and uric acid conditions were dominated by participants who had normal conditions with a percentage of 64.9%.

Abstract

Pendahuluan Gizi seimbang adalah susunan makanan sehari-hari yang mengandung zat gizi dalam jenis dan jumlah yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan tubuh dengan memerhatikan prinsip keanekaragaman atau variasi makanan, aktivitas fisik, kebersihan, dan berat badan (BB) ideal. Konsumsi pangan yang mengandung zat gizi sangat dibutuhkan bagi setiap orang untuk mencapai derajat kesehatan yang optimal. Anak usia sekolah termasuk kedalam golongan yang masih mengalami pertumbuhan dan perkembangan yang pesat, oleh karena itu asupan gizi yang optimal sangat diperlukan untuk menunjang periode tumbuh dan kembangnya. Dalam periode tersebut anak-anak sudah bisa menentukan pilihan  makanan dan minuman yang mereka inginkan. Beragamnya informasi produk pangan yang ada membuat peserta didik terpapar informasi yang terkadang mengarahkan mereka untuk memiliki produk pangan yang popular, menarik, namun terkadang kurang baik dari segi gizi (tidak mengandung zat gizi yang seimbang), kesehatan, maupun keamanan pangannya. Berdasarkan uraian tersebut maka membekali peserta didik dengan pengetahuan yang baik tentang gizi, Kesehatan, dan keamanan pangan menjadi sangat penting dilakukan untuk menjadikan perilaku gizi dan kesehatan serta memilih pangan yang aman menjadi suatu kebutuhan dan kebiasaan. Pengetahuan akan pentingnya mengkonsumsi makanan yang bergizi seimbang perlu ditanamkan sejak dini. Metode Kegiatan Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan dengan metode pendampingan dan penyuluhan yang yang dilakukan secara virtual pada sekolah kesatuan kota bogor dengan target siswa sekolah dasar dan guru yang mendampingi. Pendampingan materi dilakukan oleh tim dosen berjumlah tiga orang dan dua mahasiswa dan dilaksanakan menggunakan media zoom. Hasil Dari kegiatan pendampingan ini siswa yang mengikuti kegiatan mendapatkan meningkatan pengetahuan terkait pengertian pentingnya memperhatikan kandungan gizi dari makanan yang dikonsumsi dan mengetahui bagaimana cara memilih makanan yang lebih sehat dan bergizi pada piring mereka. Pembahasan Kegiatan pendampingan dengan pembiasaan gizi seimbang untuk tumbuh optimal pada SD Kesatuan kota Bogor membawa manfaat yang baik untuk siswa yang mengikuti kegiatan serta para guru yang pendampingi pada kegiatan tersebut karena dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman sedari kecil serta mengenal makanan yang dibutuhkan oleh tubuh untuk perkembangan tubuh yang optimal dalam masa pertumbuhan mereka.
