Abstract

Abstract.The purpose of this research to determine the factors affecting student achievement and the most dominant factor, especially in Mathematics Education Program of FKIP in Jember University. The populations of this research were all students of class 2005, 2006, and 2007 at Mathematics Education Program in Jember University that were 318 students, 178students as samples. This research used two variables: the independent variable (intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, methods of learning, teaching methods,use of leisure time, physical learning environment, family economic circumstances, and physical factors) and the dependent variable (student achievement). The collecting technique data used were questionnaires and documentary. Based on logistic regression analysis obtained extrinsic factors, physical learning environment, family economic circumstances, and physical factors having significant influences and the most dominant factor was physical learning environment variables, where as intrinsic motivation factors, learning method, teaching methods, and theuse of leisure time weren’t significantin determining student achievement. Abstract

High order thinking skill is the ability to complete the tasks where there is no algorithm that have been taught, that need justification or explanation and probably have more than one solution probability. High thinking skill ability is the ability that consists of analysis, evaluation and creation. Emotional intelligence is the individual intelligence in recognizing self-emotion, motivate yourself, control others emotion and foster relationships with others. Lesson study learning community is the collaborative learning from Japan. The aim of this research is to describe the process of student’s high order thinking skill in solving probability problem on LSLC based learning on emotional intelligence. The subject of this research started from giving emotional intelligence questionnaire, next the learning activity based on LSLC where the students work collaboratively on high order thinking questions on the students’ worksheet that consists of 3 questions covering question number 1 is question of analyzing, question number 2 is question of evaluating and question number 3 is question of creating, it was obtained the subject of 1 student with low emotional intelligence, 1 student with moderate emotional intelligence and 1 student with high emotional intelligence. From those three subjects, it was obtained 1 student with high emotional intelligence that has high order thinking skill, while 1 student with moderate emotional intelligence and 1 student with low emotional intellegence that did not have high order thinking skill. Abstract

This research purpose to describe metacognition in solving Open Ended SPLDV Problems Based on Sensing Intuition personality. This research type is qualitatif descriptive conducted in class VIII I SMP Negeri 1 Purwosari. Subjects of this research consist of 3 students with Sensing personality and 3 students with Intuition personality selected based on the highest score on personality type. Six students will solve Open Ended problem and inteview. The results showed that students sensing type receive information based on the facts, while students Intuition type personality found a correlation based on information. Students Sensing type only solve Open Ended problems using two different methods the teacher had been taught, while students Intuition type able to solve Open Ended problems using new methods and able to explain solution more than two correctly answers. On the worksheet students Sensing type tend to be systematic, while students Intuition type tend to be not systematis. Although there is a difference metacognition activities in solving Open Ended SPLDV problems, students with Sensing and Intuition personality able to meet all indicator metacognition planning, monitoring, and evaluating.

Abstract

Abstract. Ethnomathematic is a study done for examines how a group of people in particular culture comprehending, expressing and applying the mathematic concept and use on culture which described mathematically by the researcher. The aim of this research for describing kind of ethnomathematic activity of Javanese in Setail Village. This research is a qualitative ethnographic approach. How to capture the subject of research by the snowball technique, that is by looking one by one the subject prior to the data obtained experiencing saturation point and limited to 7 farmers. The result of this research shown there are mathematic applied on farming done by farmer of Setail Village. They are enumerating, counting, measuring, and designing. Rice farmers of Javanese in Setail Village always use the standard size of land area “seprapat bau” to count and measure in a variety of activities such as determining the amount of fertilizer, medicine, seed number, and number of workers. Counting activities shown when the farmer chopping the frequency of fertilization and seed treatment and plant rice. Designing activities shown when farmers designing farming tool called kerek. Abstract

Abstract. This research is aimed to describe the creative thinking process of kinesthetic students in solving Mathematics problems based on Wallas Stage. The type of this research is descriptive research with qualitative approach. Data collection method used in this research is questionnaire, test, and interview. The research participants were 8 student's kinesthetic learning style on the X grade of Tissue Culture Cultivation Department of SMK Negeri 5 Jember. Based on Wallas Stage, creative thinking is classified into 4 stages, preparation, incubation, illumination, and verification. The result of the research shows that kinesthetic learning style of student's creative thinking process is different, the student passed creative thinking stage as proposed by Wallas. Student of kinesthetic learning style shows the same behavior in passing preparation stage, they are able to dig up the beginning information in the task, in illumination stage students gain the inspiration to solve, in incubation stage there were 5 students who distract the attention by trying to write in blur paper and 3 students distract the attention by pausing for a moment and doing nothing, in verification stage there are 7 students that shows the same behavior which is rechecking problem solving to the reality and one student did not pass the verification stage. Abstract

Abstract.Ethnomathematics is a study in applied science which has a matter of interest in numbers which the operation contains of a truth and a certain rule. The application has been used in the life of cultural groups or social communities. This research aims to describe the activity of Ethnomathematic peasants with paddy as the commodity in KeranjinganMaduranese, in Sumbersari, Jember Regency. The research uses qualitative study which employs ethnographic approach. The researcher collects the field data by interviewing and observing, using triangulation technique –a collecting data technique from the same source with different technique. The subjects of this research are 6 peasants. The result shows that there is Mathematic activity within farming of KeranjinganMaduranese, in Sumbersari, Jember Regency. The research result obtains tools for organizing the seed in order which are called bellak and kencah. The Mathematic activities which have been observed are to count the amount of employees, seeds, and fertilizers based on the land and work time. The activities apply Mathematic proportion law. Abstract

Soybean is one of the main food commodities after rice and corn. Tempe is a traditional food made from soybeans. Tempe is widely produced by small and medium industries. This study aims to determine the maximum benefits obtained in the District of Banjar, Banjar City, West Java Province in producing tempe. This type of research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. By using the probably sampling method, take a random sample. Determination of the sample is taken in 3 tempe productions with different tempe production income. By determining the decision variables, objective functions, and constraint functions by linear programming methods. In Tempe production in the Banjar District, Banjar City, West Java, the maximum profit was Rp. 29.257.080 and the maximum income was Rp. 28.862.790. The maximum profit and income are obtained from a large workforce so that it can produce a lot of tempe production and the cost of depreciation of the tool is small. The more tempe production, the more revenue obtained.

Abstract

Abstract.This research aims to describe mathematics representation ability of students’ with impulsive and reflective cognitive style in solving open-ended problem. Instruments which were used are MFFT, open-ended question, and interview. MFFT test used to categorize reflective-impulsive cognitive style. From MFFT test result obtained 2 reflective students and 2 impulsive students who then tested with open-ended problem and interview in order to knowing subjects’ mathematics representation ability in solving open-ended problem. Based on analysis and discussion can be concluded that students with reflective style fulfilled all of the mathematis representation indicators which are visual representation, expression or mathematics equation and words or written text. Students with impulsive cognitive style only fulfilled some of the mathematics representation indicators which are expression or mathematics equations and words or written text. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between study habits and mathematics learning outcomes, the correlation between learning motivation and mathematics learning outcomes, and the correlation between learning habits and motivation to learn mathematics outcomes during online learning. The total population is 185 students and the sample size is 123 students with the sampling technique using the Slovin formula approach. Hypothesis testing using multiple regression analysis techniques, Pearson Correlation test, F test, and a coefficient of determination of 5%. Learning habits and motivation are measured by a questionnaire that has been declared valid by the validator and has been tested for validity and reliability on 60 respondents outside the research subject. Data collection to measure learning habits and motivation is done by distributing questionnaires, while for student achievement it is obtained from documentation of math scores. The results showed that: there was a positive and significant correlation between study habits and students' mathematics learning outcomes. The correlation between the two is moderately correlated; there is a positive and significant correlation between learning motivation and student outcomes in mathematics. The correlation between the two is strongly correlated; there is a positive and significant correlation between study habits and learning motivation with students' mathematics learning outcomes. The correlation between the two is strongly correlated. The contribution of study habits and learning motivation simultaneously to mathematics learning outcomes is 30.7%, while 69.3% is influenced by other factors not examined by the researchers in this study.
